Make older TV stream

My Google Chromecast became extremely unreliable and led to lots of frustration in attempting to find a fix. The Best Buy associate suggested the Roku Express with Voice Remote and TV controls. Four words: Works Like A Charm!

We use this way more than expected

We found "channels" for the obvious (YouTube), but also TV from Thailand, plex and jellyfin, and some more obscure stuff like Odysee and Rumble. This unit can occasionally struggle a little due to limited hardware and thermal management. I kind of wish i had picked the Roku speaker bar instead (which supposedly doubles as a smart home speaker for Alexa or whatever). The one big con is that some of the channels have way too many ads, but that's par for the course for anything that isn't files downloaded to a hard drive.

Old vs New Roku
