However, some players reported encountering bugs and experiencing frame rate issues, particularly on the PS4. A few also found the settlement building system and difficulty level to be less than ideal.

Wonderful storyline, rich characters and interesting plot turns. I love this game and easily deserves game of the year. Beat the game once on very hard with a male character (high luck and high agility) now I am playing it again on legendary with a female character (high intelligence and charisma) and completely different experience. Also multiple factions to join giving multiple endings. Very good value for the money.

This was my first game in the Fallout series and it doesn't disappoint. The huge open world is very fun to explore and there is seemingly an endless amount of content.

Great game, but a bit too complex

It's your typical Fallout game, which is great. Plenty of killing, freedom to roam wherever you want, and a decent storyline. My main dislike is that it's way too complex than what's needed for a video game. From building a town, modifying weapons and armor, making chemicals and building your stat tree. It's way too time consuming and it's so much of a pain making sure you have every little ingredient for whatever you're trying to make and not becoming over-encumbered (which happens ALL the time). Most of that is side stuff though, and when just focusing on the missions and killing stuff, it's a fun game.

This is seriously one of my favorite games I have ever owned. I've never played any fallout games before buying this one, but that didnt stop me from enjoying this game everyday. As a mostly cod and other shooter game player it was very satisfying to enjoy a game outside of my comfort zone, I've spent countless hours playing and thats even before starting the main quest. This truely is a game worth every penny.

I personally had a really hard time getting into Fallout 3, so with Fallout 4's release, the main reason I was getting it was because literally everyone on the planet was excited for the game. I'm happy to say that I'm seriously enjoying it. I've already put almost 25 hours into the game. While it's definitely not as good as my current GOTY, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, it's still a seriously great game.

If you are a fan of past Fallout iterations, then you will enjoy Fallout 4. On the PS4 it's a mixed bag of beauty and ugliness. The facial textures and ragdoll physics are old school Fallout while the world you travel in is new gen. Gameplay is familiar, the VAt system is there as well as an ally you can use as a pack mule though their path finding algorithms leave something to be desired. They are great diversions when facing off with baddies. They don't die so don't waste resources on them. All in all, it's a great Fallout game. It needs patching for some variable crashing but fans will enjoy it.

Game overall was a lot of fun, you get to run around being a super hero. And that's awesome. But you don't get much of a choice. Conversation choices mean nothing to the story direction other than 1 line jokes. You still come away from every conversation with the same outcome no matter the attitude you portray. Don't get me wrong, I love it and it can be hilarious, but it feels like there are more rails than freedom here. The ending felt the same, as it's kind of a cop out. There are technically different endings, but no different cinematics. Made me feel like my choices were... pointless.

Fallout 4 has killed my social life. My friends (now ex-friends) forgot who I was, but who needs friends when you have Dogmeat as your loyal companion? I spent hours just being a scavenger to build my wonderful castle in this wasteland. As king of the hill, I decimate anyone who gives me stink eye. Talk down on me? Blasted. Comment about my underwear? Blasted. What can be better in RL than destroying your foes with a flaming sword? You say ladies? Well do you have a harem because I have one in the game. Granted they don't look too great and dead in the eyes, but hey i'll take what I can get.

The long-awaited Fallout 4 is packed with new features and gameplay elements to get addicted to, like settlements and weapon crafting. While the graphics leave a little more to be desired, the world still is engrossing and there's a cool story and side characters.

Previous Experience: 100's of hours in Fallout 3 and Fallout NV - Completed them both a few times. Playtime: A little over 3.5 hours. Cons: Same engine, the game feels the same in many regards. Graphics seem dated. A lot has changed since 2008, npc movement for example. Enemies run towards you using the most direct path, bounding on top of some obstacles instantly. It seems like some area's are a direct copy from fallout 3 (with new textures), so far that has been limited to an overpass. Settlement Crafting can be annoying if you are missing 1 unique part, with no way of knowing how to get it. There is a lot of junk you can break down, but it's tedious to do. The beginning in vault 111 isn't a very fun story and it's a little too forced, unlike Fallout 3. Minor Bugs or glitches: The only one I experienced so far is dialog subtitles, they get stuck and quit working. It's a minor annoyance really and you might not even use them (disabled by default). NPC's didn't use my selected in game name "Bob", thought it was on the list, maybe not. Neutral: Some PS4 controls aren't really intuitive, the good thing is the physical manual actually does have the default keymap in it. I've had to reference it a few times. Digital buyers I don't know about your manual. Some of the music is exactly the same from fallout 3, maybe that's good for some of you, I was looking forward to an entirely new soundtrack. Pro's Settlement building is pretty neat and pretty fun. Weapons are fun, and customization options are extreme but they depend on your skill set and salvaging abilities. No more weapon breaking in the middle of a firefight. The enemies are pretty fierce, be sure to wear your brown pants if deathclaws are around. Powerarmor is even more fun, although wearing it is limited by your fusion fuel, still its a good balance. However it does also take damage and need repairs. Shooting in general is a lot better, it does feel like a FPS if you don't use VATS for every shot, a mix of both is usually required in my experience. Lots of new ground to explore, and living just northwest of Boston myself the game hits home. The enveloping environment more than makes up for the dated graphics. Takeaway: The game is fun and adds new elements as well as fixed old annoyances. If you loved Fallout 3, you will probably enjoy Fallout 4. If you've never played Fallout or Skyrim and think you might be interested in a new RPG, I'd say this wont disappoint you if you are willing to accept graphics that seem a little dated. It's really like it's own little world, and you get the feel of it quite well. For these reasons I give it a B+

After hearing great things from friends and coworkers, I decided to give this a go. I am not new to RPGs and Bethesda has never disappointed me. This game is sort of like the post-apocalyptic skyrim. At first, I wasn't really into this game. I was a bit disappointed after all of the hype. I kept playing, and after a few more hours after getting more acclimated with all of the different things I could do, it became a great game. There wasn't a tutorial to my knowledge, which was probably why I wasn't enjoying it as much, not being a Fallout veteran. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes open world RPGs. Story isn't terrible, but you don't have to stick to it. You can play this game for months (in game time, not actual time owning the game). The expansion/s should be promising, as Bethesda has yet to disappoint me since the 90s.
