Review for
Farenheit - Flare 13.5-in Fire Pit - Silver
We have a large stone fire pit, but find it smokes and annoys the people nearest and downwind. I thought this would be an improvement and it is!
You can burn smaller pieces of wood or use wood pellets - I’ve tried both with great success. The unit is great looking and easy to transport because the base fits into the top, making the overall size easy to pack and carry.
It’s simple to empty the lower portion which collects the ashes. I was hoping to leave it in place, since it’s stainless steel, but the instructions caution against leaving it in the rain. But it’s easy to move once it cools. The only caution I’d advise is the logo cutouts are quite sharp, so don’t touch them!

THE BREAKDOWN:
The Fahrenheit Flare that I tested is about 13.5 inches in diameter. It is made of stainless steel to help with weight and rusting issues This comes is two pieces the bottom which is kind of like a stand/ash storage and the top, where you place the wood sticks or pellets.
There are strategically placed holes to allow airflow in the bottom and top portions of this pit making the fire burn hotter and thus reducing smoke. While this does not completely eradicate the smoke, it does lessen it quite a bit. That makes for better gatherings with friends and family around the fire.
I found the size to be perfect for back-yard gatherings and because of its size it is completely portable so you can take it camping easily. I do wish it had a carrying case/storage bag.
PRO’s:
- Made of Stainless Steel
- Light considering it is only 10.2 lbs
- Can use real wood or pellets
- drastically reduces smoke
CON’s:
- Wish it came with a bag/carrying case
SUMMARY:
Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this that is portable and gets the job done.

Great item if you don't have wood and ground for campfires. Returned this because we have a wood pile we can use. Never opened the box. I can't give full review.

Well Built and Versatile!

The first thing that stood out to me about this fire pit is how well-built it is. The entire product is made out of sturdy, stainless steel and the quality of construction is top notch with solid, smooth welds. I even accidentally dropped it on the ground and it didn’t even dent!
I just used some small kindling and starter to get it rolling and it worked great with the random firewood that I picked up at a general store on my way to my camping destination. It’s an extremely capable marshmallow roaster ;)
It produces a substantial amount of heat and holds heat very well due to its stainless steel construction.
This fire pit is designed in a way to minimize smoke and I’d say for the most part it works well.
I like this particular 13.5” version (it also comes in a 17” version) because I can use it in my backyard as well as camping. The smaller size fits easily in my car and it’s especially nice that it’s a 2-piece system so it’s stackable. I just use the plastic that it came with as a cover so no ash gets in my car but it would have been awesome for this smaller version to come with a carrying bag or dedicated cover.
The only real complaint I have about it is the somewhat obnoxious “Farenheit” logo that is laser cut on the outside of the pit. Sort of neat that it glows when a fire is lit but I would prefer more subtle branding.
Great product - didn’t know if I would get much use out of it but I’ve come to love it!

Not your typical firepit

I have an old firepit that has corroded and rusted and was looking to replace it. I had heard a lot about these new smokeless firepits and wanted to try it out.
My old pit is pretty big so I set a few scrap 2x4s in the bottom of my old pit to create a flat and a bit cleaner base and put this unit inside my other pit. That's when I realized how small 13.5 inches really is. I think a bigger one would have worked for me since I have a nice big spot for it, but after I got a fire going the fire had a pretty good flame so I'm not unhappy with the size of the actual fire, but a bigger pit would make it easier to find food that can fit in it.
I have a pellet grill so I tried to start with some pellets like the instructions said I could. The instructions say not to use any lighter fluid or accelerate, but I have to be honest I have no idea how they expect pellets to light without it. I gave up and got some wood shavings and kindling I split from scrap 2x4s in order to start a fire. i couldn't get the pellets to light at all.
Once a fire was started things worked pretty well. I didn't have a lot of wood short enough so I did have a few pieces that extended past the top of the pit. I think that may have reduced the low smoke properties of the pit, but it wasn't any worse that a basic fire pit.
I did also try throwing in a handful of pellets to see how they worked once the fire was going and i had something to light them. It did create a very different effect in the flames coming out of the pit and was kind of cool. Pellets are a bit too expensive for me to use as the primary source, but if you live in an apartment and are looking to store things indoors and take this for a fire at the beach or some other trip, I could see pellets working out pretty well. It also gives me a use for my old pellets if they get wet or old and are no good for the grill anymore.
Also, don't get confused by the term smokeless. Farenheit does put in their descriptions that it reduces smoke rather than saying smokeless, but the design is pretty much the same as other brands that advertise their units as smokeless.
I think that for the most part that it does reduce smoke, but with a few caveats. First, the fire has to be going pretty good for it to reduce smoke. The idea that you heat air that is then pushed into the system to create a type of double burn works and when you use this firepit you can see cool patterns from the top holes that look almost like fire coming out of a gas burner. However, if your fire isn't very hot yet or you've let it cool down a bit, the air isn't able to get hot enough to create that effect and you have about as much smoke as any other fire pit at that point.
I did notice though, that the depth of the pit and the fact that the sides are solid meant that when there was a gust of wind that would otherwise have blown up a bunch of ash and smoke at the unfortunate soul on the other side of the fire, in this case it pushed a small amount of smoke at them but otherwise didn't affect things much.
The sides of the pit are very thick. They did get hot to the touch and when I held a pot holder to it the pot holder came back warm and might not have burned me, but it was close enough I didn't want to risk touching it with my bare hand. However, the edge of my old fire pit was around 3-4 inches away from the edge of this one, and the old pit was completely cold to the touch.
That really highlights in my biggest complaint with this pit. Size was a selection issue and they make bigger ones, but to get the double burn effect the fire pit does its best to capture and utilize the heat coming off the fire and to the sides. This means on a cold night if you're sitting next to the fire you don't feel a ton of heat unless you are sitting higher than the pit so that you can feel the heat coming up and out of the top. Because my pit was inside an older pit and on a few 2x4s in that old pit, it rested a bit higher than most people were sitting and we were getting kind of cold next to the fire. On the flip side, if you just like smores or its a hot summer night and you want the fun of a fire but don't want to overheat, this could be a plus.
In fact, after the fire was out and the next morning I could see what was going on, I removed the pit and after hours of a very full fire, the 2x4s under the pit weren't even discolored. I know in their instructions it says not to put the pit on anything flammable, but my guess is that's in case it gets knocked over or a piece of wood pops and throws a coal outside the pit. I wouldn't be surprised if you put this directly on your lawn if it wouldn't even turn the grass yellow.
Overall if you have a wide open space or a dedicated section of your yard for a fire I might not recommend this pit. However, if you don't have a lot of space, want to be able to pack this up and store it away, or especially if you don't have a great place for a pit and are concerned that the fire could damage your lawn or cement patio, this is a fantastic option to deal with those limitations and issues.

As more and more people get into the outdoors, responsible methods have to be considered for the enjoyment of activities like campfires. As an off-road enthusiast who enjoys driving to remote destinations in the pacific northwest, I always find it depressing to arrive at areas used for camping to find them littered with ill-suited campfire rings and campfire debris all over the place. The best solution to avoid these is to bring along propane or wood fire pits such as this Farenheit Flare fire pit!
This is the perfect size for a small campground area and to load into the back of a truck or SUV. At 10 pounds and 13.5 inches across, it is light enough and small enough that it can be handled and stowed easily. The total height of it when set up is precisely 12 inches, and when stowed it is just less than 7 inches. The design of it allows firewood to burn hot with plenty of oxygen being fed to it from all angles through the ports in the sides and bottom while allowing for collection of ash in the bottom stand portion. I am really excited to add a grate to this for some grilling. My only wish is that this fire pit would have come with a cover, even a cheap one, as it is prone to dings and scratches in its bare state. Aside from this wish though, I find myself extremely happy with this portable, responsible fire pit and highly recommend it to anyone that likes a fire out in the wilderness or backyard!

I have wanted to get a portable fire pit for a while. We rented a cabin last year and found out that they did not have a fire pit so this is why I got this one. In my state you have to purchase wood nearby where you plan to burn so the store bought wood that you get in a bag fit in this unit and works great. It also says you can use wood pellets which I have but have not yet done. If you put a lot of wood in it there will be some smoke but if you keep the fire low it does a great job on not having a lot of smoke. Very easy to clean up. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a portable fire pit.

It's a good size for taking on trips camping or to the beach. It's a simple setup of two pieces, set one on the other and it's ready to go.
Lightweight and small for portability or small yard areas yet durable to last. Heat disperses out the side as well as the top, so no need to stand close to feel the warmth.
Wood pellets or small logs (8" in length) are needed.
Happy trails!

Great for a small fire

My wife and I enjoy a small fire to cook hotdogs/smores without the need for a full-sized fire pit or bon-fire. This fits the bill nicely!
We dug a small hole not even a foot deep to sink the fire pit into, then lit up some soft (yet dry) wood and enjoyed the ambiance without all the smoke and no fire department showing up for an unwelcome visit!
When everything was done we extinguished with the garden hose, pulled the "pit" out of the shallow hole we made and put it away. With a quick cleaning the next day it's ready to go on any adventure or to another part of the yard for our next "outing". A nice addition for anyone who likes a taste of the outdoors once in a while!

The fire pit is perfect especially if you live in an urban area. We live in a rural area, but given the size of the fire pit, we're very happy with it. It takes two seconds to set up, and the way the pit is made (Great quality), it's definitely worth it!
The design allows for great airflow. Overall this thing is absolutely amazing and a perfect fit in almost any area.
