I use all the time 85mm (it's awesome too) but sometimes I need to get close to the subject and this 50mm it's perfect for it. The sharpness on this lens it's phenomenal. I really recommend it.

Focus is a little slower compared to higher quality Sony lenses, but for portraiture work fast focus isnt quite as critical as an event. Bought on sale and happy with it for a cheap lens.

Not the best 50mm you can buy.

I've owned lots of 50mm f/1.8 during my 10 years of being a photographer and this one is just "okay". it's like the nifty fifty for Nikon. Slower than you really want it to be but gets the job done. It's okay for still photos, if you're patience, I wouldn't recommend it for sport or fast action as the autofocus is slower than any other newer Sony lens. But it works and the image quality is pretty stellar. For Video, I wouldn't rely on this if you need accurate autofocus that's quick enough. If you're just manual focusing okay then. It's a good lens, You just have to be patience while using it.

Oh man, it's a game changer. Really good for mid to long shots of cars and car rollers. Highly suggest for car photography.
