I have been using my kit lenses for the last year and they have worked well, but I have never been able to get a good portrait based on the higher aperture. This lens has made it much easier for me to get a high quality portrait with crisp edges and excellent focus.

You cannot go wrong with having a 50 in your camera bag. I think if you don't have this than you must like the 35mm. I love a good 50mm and usually shooting below 1.8 I rarely do. I would recommend having.

Bought for boyfriend who is a photographer. He loves it and has been shooting with it ever cents.

The optics are sharp and the auto-focus surprisingly decent for an older lens, however the chromatic aberration was a bit of a nuisance for me and the loud focusing motors are a no go for video shooters(if you are mainly a stills shooter, you can live with it). Still, it’s optical performance is surprisingly well considering the age and price of the lens.

For the price the lens is pretty good . But the only thing I hate is the auto focus . It acts really slow sometimes . But once you get focus ittskes really good pics

This a great lens. I definitely recommend this lens to any new photographer as their first prime lens. Solid Focus, slightly loud, Decent build.

50mm focal length is a great focal length for most portraits and even some street photography. Good bokeh and image quality was good as well. Auto focus was a little slow compared to other lenses .

I like the focal length but the autofocus is slow and the pics are ok. I think this would be a great starter lens. I'll have to save my money for the 1.2. this will do the trick for now

I love this lens it takes very crisp images and I can barely tell the difference between this and the zeiss 55 1.8 images for almost $1000 cheaper it's worth it!

not a high quality lens. for a price of around $120, probably worth it. its fine. its not good. If you dont absolutely need AF, get a used 50mm from any other mfg and be happy

Ordered a open box and it was literally not even the right lens. It was labeled as excellent, no damage. This lens had a bend in it, scathing all over it and was clearly someone’s old lens. I have used the real lens before and it works very well for the price however the GMaster is just miles above this one. However with price you can’t really beat this lens.

I am basing my review based on the fact that Sony does not have a wide variety of lens of this focal length. The only con I have is that this lens is loud. The price, size, and weight outweighs the cons.

Very good image quality but auto focus is a bit slow tends to hunt but nails focus every time which is the importance. No eye auto focus as well. But for its price I would definitely purchase again

I bought this for my grandson he told me this the best lens to have he really really love it I’m glad I got it for him.

Really good lens, it’s a little loud so I would recommend upgrading to the Zeiss 55mm if you’re a videographer or just have the extra cash; but this is a solid lens on a budget

Lens takes great shots, not built for video if you plan on using in camera mic footage as there's so much gear noise from the autofocus. Otherwise excellent and a great bang for your buck.

One of my favorite lenses. The nifty fifty, with such low aperture and such an awesome focal length you genuinely can’t go wrong with this lens. 10/10.
