It is very much affordable and a must for portraits and landscapes too. f1.8 is fast enough in low light conditions but sometimes searches for focus. Can be used for videography too.

Others have suggested this lenses and eventhough I was looking for a wide, I figured I needed a portrait anyhow. In short, you can't beat the price for a f1.8. It's clean enough where you'd have to nitpick, but it does have its down side. It's rather slow to focus and quite loud while doing so. If you're in a jam and need a lens that won't break the bank, I'd say it's a good buy.

They haven't heard my older low end lenses. While it is noisier than my high end lenses, it's not THAT bad. It takes beautiful pictures on a low budget. Is it as good as the same high end lens across all apertures? No. Is it still pretty good? Yes. Am I glad I bought it? Yes.
