It is easy to put on, and take off, the camera body via the Bayonet mount system. It is not a screw on lens it snaps into place. The picture quality is amazing using this lens. I received a Sony combination telephoto lens with the camera purchase. I bought this for everyday simple picture taking. This is my prefered lens. It can take various screw on filters . I keep my UV filter and circular polarization filter on the 50mm at all times. It also comes with both a lenas cover & cover to keep the back of the lens clean and the parts from being damaged. I recommend this lens.

I think it's great for beginners learning about lighting and composition. The f/1.8 is unbeatable. Highly recommend if you're starting out!

Small and sharp

I bought this product because I would want to have a small and lightweight lens to go around without needing much effort. I didn't expect that this product would be so sharp and compact at the same time. Definitely, it one of "you must have" product. Also, it is perfect for food and product photography. If you are starting, you will love this product. The only con is that you don't have the button to fix the focus and sometimes you have to wait until the camera can decide what focus is better, sometimes you have to change to manual focus, which is another problem because you don't have the switch button to turn it on and off, you have to go to your camera's menu to do it. But for the price and the quality of its photos, I am sure it is a big deal.

Excellent Affordable Lens

Portrait shoots is what I use this lens for. Excellent sharpness, fast focus and the bokeh behind the subject is nice and smooth.

It's the cheapest great quality prime lens Sony has ever released, producing crisp and clear photos with a classic bokeh look. The autofocus is fast and accurate, and the lens is compact and lightweight. Though it can be a bit noisy when focusing, it's a small price to pay for the excellent stills. This may be the niftiest fifty I've ever owned!
