Great budget lens

It is not one of the Sony zeiss lenses so I don't expect much from it. Image sharpness to me is good but not great. Lens is however very light weight and fits nicely on camera. The auto focus is noisy and a bit slow on the a72. My A6000 does a much better job with auto focus. Low light the lens has a hard time finding focus. In full manual mode it's great. It's a 200 dollar lens. No complaints.

Great but no zoom

It was a pleasant surprise as to how tack sharp the pictures came out. The picture quality is pretty close to that of the Zeiss 55mm. The Zeiss is a little more sharp and it does focus much better but the FE 50 1.8's focus is acceptable and not as slow as some of the reviews here suggested. The FE 50mm is staying and the 55mm is going back.
