No. Is this the best sony prime lens for the cost? Absolutely, I use this lens on the daily for product photography and it works like a charm. Its not as sharp as the zeiss or G lens but those are ten times the cost so for the price this is a great starter lens to get more into portrait photography

For the money, you get a 1.8 lens that's great for portraits and fantastic with low light situations. Sure, there are better ones, but they cost 2-3x as much. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this little guy!

Its basically not usable for video because of how hard the motor has to work to keep up with a subject and the motor can be heared from the internal mic AND hotshoe shotgun mics. If youre just doing photos, maybe portraits and product photography, then its fine. Im pretty sure i wont use this for anything other than a backup lens though.

This is aptly named the “nifty fifty.” The form factor is great, most lenses are huge and this one is pretty proportional to the A7iii. It takes crisp photos and has the aperture I need. Get yours already.

Good nifty 50 for Sony E-mount

It's what most of us need in our bag, an inexpensive fast and reasonably sharp normal prime. You can pay big bucks for a Zeiss or GM lens, but most of us won't see much of a difference, other than in our bank accounts. Unless you're a professional, this is the 50mm lens for you.
