Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the image quality, price, ease of use, low light performance, weight, and size of the FE 50mm f/1.8 Standard Prime Lens. Many appreciate its affordability and how lightweight and compact it is. However, some customers note that the autofocus could be improved, and some have mentioned that it produces some noticeable noise. The lens is generally well-regarded for its performance and value.

This was the first lens I got and I was so happy with the purchase. Based on the price, I think it is the best portrait Sony lens that you can get. Would highly recommend it.

Say you take a walk outside and see an amazing picture possiblity but you also have to use the bathroom, this lens will have you in that bathroom quickly. No zoom, just point and make sure the framing is good and take that pic.

    Disappointing Lens

Quite disappointed. The lens is cheap (so called "nitty fifty"), sharp and it focuses quickly, but the colors are muted and something about the shots just isn't right - and it was used on both full frame and crop sensors. It might just be a personal preference, though.

Nice lens! Just a fixed lens so super zoomed in, but that’s what you buy. Love the ease of use though! Great quality as well!

good lenses to begin shooting portraits or to shoot more night time shoots. good for videos too but the auto focus is a bit slow but if that doesn't affect you it is a good pair or lenses.

This is a great first prime lens, especially for the price. You shouldn't count on this to be an every day every subject lens, but count on it to be a great start if all you have is the Sony Alpha Body.

I love this lens. It is great for portraits and lifestyle photos. I used the lens when my daughter was born and all of her newborn photos look like they were taken by a professional. I absolutely love it.

I purchased this lens for my camping trip, that I had in july. It worked out great, for the price, it was pretty good. better than I had thought it would be. Pictures came in clear more vibrant than my stock lens.

This lens is perfect for shooting portraits. I've already done a few sessions with clients and they love how the photos turned out. Really compliments their facial structure and is quite sharp for such a cheap lens.

Everyone should have a 50mm prime lens in his or her camera bag. This one is great for the price and is sharp at 2.8 and above. No major complaints with auto focus speed or noise. It does its job well if you know what you are doing.

Good fast lens but not good for videos since auto focus is noisy and sometimes hunt to much. Great for portraits. So if your looking for a 50mm for videos I would recommend the 50mm/1.8 with OSS.

For close-up pics using my new Sony A7RIII, this lens does a great job. With a F/1.8 lens, it can capture picture sin low light conditions with ease. Picture clarity is excellent.
