Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the image quality, price, ease of use, low light performance, weight, and size of the FE 50mm f/1.8 Standard Prime Lens. Many appreciate its affordability and how lightweight and compact it is. However, some customers note that the autofocus could be improved, and some have mentioned that it produces some noticeable noise. The lens is generally well-regarded for its performance and value.

One of the sharpest Sony lenses and an incredible price! Only downsides could be having an all plastic build (although the bayonet is metal), and having a focus motor that can be a bit slower than most Sony lenses. The bokeh is stunning with its 7 blades and the sharpness of a prime is unmatched at this price point.

Light weight, slow noisy auto focus, ok for some situations, but wouldnt recommend. Returned and had to pay 15% restocking fee.

I was worried when I got the Sony a7s ii that i would need to buy adaptors to use my other nikon lenses. I picked this lens up when I got it and i seriously use it all the time. Super fast 1.8 and the auto focus and image stabilization really work well. A+

This lens is great for photography! I like to use this lens as a portrait lens. So shoulder length and up. If far away from person can also manage to get full body but I wouldn't recommend it. Great for close ups and portraits though!

The lens was in great condition and came with all original accessories and packaging. FYI, I had to pay $30 restocking fee for returning an open box item. I had gotten the same product elsewhere for cheaper so I needed to return this.

If you're looking to getting nice lens on a budget I would highly recommend this lens. There is an updated one that's more electronic which makes a louder noise but also focuses faster, but that's not why I bought this lens that works perfect for what I need it for.

Amazing!!! Love having a fixed lens where all you need is to focus on your object. It’s a game changer for anyone who’s a professional or wanting to become a professional photographer.

This has to be one of the most underrated lenses in the Sony Lens lineup. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that’s starting out or just needs that focal length to complete their lens collection.

The lens was open box, has two blemishes on the front lens coating but does not seem to affect picture quality. The lense is fast in autofocus and is exactly what it should be. I recommend this lens and find the prime lens a joy to use.

Decent lense...but beware this lense is an FE lense. If you shoot on an a series (a6300) mirrorless, take into account the crop factor. Plus this doesn't have optical stabilization. I returned for the e mount version for Mirrorless cam. It was $100 more but also has optical stabilization. Glad I did.

Its a good lens for a starter, but if you are carrying your camera around daily I would pay more and go with a higher quality lens. Slow focus and noisy. I purchased the 35mm zeiss and I am happier

In the end I'd recommend going with the 55mm lens used or open box. The 50mm 1.4 is a good option as well, but expensive. The 55mm 1.8 has Zeiss optics and can be had for 700-800 dollars open box. Keep an eye out and get a quality lens.

Im not an expert... I just bought my first nice camera with the Sony a6000... To me it takes a great picture... I love the focus on the subject of the image, and the blurred background... It really makes the picture look professional.

Its a Nifty Fifty f1.8, what else is there to say? I needed a AF 50mm for events. It solid, seems to have pretty decent bokeh for Xmas lights

It’s a great little lens for those outings when you need a light little lens you don’t mind getting a little wear on. Take it hiking or around town, It’ll get you solid results as long as you don’t mind a little chromatic aberration here and there.
