Get the new version annually

It was definitely worth it. Great franchise and the probably the best game that EA Sports rolls out on an annual basis. I rarely buy the new version (typically alternate years to save money), but this one is worth it.

Improved, but not by much.

I can't say I was too impressed; it felt like the last 2 FIFA's. I've heard PES was a game that constantly makes drastic improvements, and I feel like EA doesn't have any reason to put so much effort into a game people will buy anyway. But my brothers happy with it.
