People expect so much from Final Fantasy games these days that I think they're unfairly held to a higher standard. I admit, I'm not sure I prefer the way the series is going. But, things have to evolve and sometimes the transition isn't always a smooth one. The key to this game, is that the combat is great. It's different, but fun and inventive. This is coming from a person that still loves the turn-based combat of old. Someday, I believe (maybe FFXV?) there will be a hybrid of old and new that shines with the best of both worlds. Good game, buy it.

Story and gameplay are great, however, being a port from a handheld to a ps4, I feel that they should have pdated the models and textures more due to it being on a much more powerful system.

I haven't really put a whole ton of time into Type-0 but what time I have put in it maybe 1 hr 30 min to get this review done has been enjoyable. I like the battle system its different to me compared to the other Final fantasy games I've played (Being FF11 and FF14 of late) You can tell ita a port though from a lot of the mechanics that you encounter, not to say that's a bad thing just noticeable. I would have like to have Square throw some resources at this to make it more PS4 friendly but then again I guess that's why they threw in the demo. Which is why most people picked up Day 1 versions. All in all if your into any type of rpgs this will keep you satisfied for a while.

I bought the PS4 just so I could play this game without interruption (the XBox One is in the "Entertainment Room" used by the whole family) and it has been worth every penny. So many different facets to this game make it hours of unending fun. I little grinding is required if you want to get all the missions in, but that is also not necessary because you can beat it multiple times with different scenes and missions every time. It is AMAZING.

This isn't a Final Fantasy game, it's Dynasty Warriors with Final Fantasy shoved down its throat. This game is a PSP game HD remake, but the HD segments of the game are reserved to the cinematics while everything else looks like Playstation 2 graphics. It's story is one that is more akin to a History channel documentary, boring and showing no real elements of connection between the Final Fantasy elements in the story other than easy antagonists and event sparks, and much of the story that is original is terribly cliche and can be expected before the game mentions the plot points. The story of Final Fantasy Type-0 follows a class of genetically modified clone school students (yes, really, and no, it's not like Final Fantasy VIII), each with the strength of ten soldiers, and their personality dependent weapon. Each hold the ever original naming style of playing cards, but that's not a major point of dissapproval. Much of the combat style is Dynasty Warriors with more difficult to use combos, often you will find a favorite character to use in a fight, but either you will have a hard time actually using that character thanks to small quirks (such as slow attack speed, sweeping attack motions that don't hit enemies as often as it should, issues with hitting targets as a ranged character, etc.) or you'll be forced to level up other, less interesting characters to round out your group in case a character dies. To make matters worse, the camera is ungodly janky and sensitive to adjustment which makes moving about in and out of combat is terribly nauseating. Aside from the chocobo breeding, a throwback to the fun side quest of Final Fantasy 7, and the overland Suikoden 3-style war events, this game is difficult to enjoy for a mature fan of the classic Final Fantasy games. In closing, if it were not called Final Fantasy, it would be a great game. It can be fun after you forget the Final Fantasy name, even with the terrible PS2 era graphics and the awkward soundtrack, but sadly the combat mechanics leave much to be desired.

The blood, and blood-curdling screams, let you know right away this isn't your traditional Final Fantasy. Combat is very action-oriented, but still requires a fair amount of strategy on your part as you flip back and forth between your different characters and are forced to adapt should one fall during battle. The story, presented mostly in an effective pseudo-war history presentation, is not nearly as plot-heavy as your normal FF, and character development also takes a hit (especially since you have so many characters), but is engaging nonetheless. The last chapter takes an awkward turn, but overall, it's a very solid game.

If you're looking for something to scratch your Final Fantasy itch, this should do it. And if it doesn't, the FFXV demo that comes with select versions of the game will.

This is a whole new take on the turn base final fantasy from the past but it is an awesome one. I love the game play and the ability to switch through characters on missions. The game play took a bit to get used to as you actually have to play with strategy and dodge rather than a constant attack. The only downfall is the camera it's so touch and horrible in tight spaces but still very playable

At first, I got this game for FFXV demo, but after playing Type 0 for a day now, I have to say that its pretty fun and I enjoy it. The battle system is a little different but its definitely better than FF13 series. As for the FFXV demo, this demo is only 3 hours long but those 3 hours can be soooo fun!! You can save your data unlike most demos and the graphics are so crisp and clean!

A lot of people bought this game for the Final Fantasy XV demo, but this game itself is actually really good. It is a PSP HD remake so the graphics are not the most amazing, and also another thing to note is that Square Enix have removed the multiplayer co-op portion of this game. If multi player was in I would've given this 5 stars. Nevertheless, you take on missions and combat is solid and fun unlike traditional turnbased RPGs which i find boring. Great single player RPG even without the FFXV demo, recommended for fans of Square RPGs and can handle action based gameplay.

This game as not at all what I expected. The story seems to be lacking for a Final Fantasy game. There are those that would argue with me about this, but I was never able to fully care for any of the characters, or feel involved in the story. Combat, on the other hand, was probably the best part of the game. Very fluid and very fast paced action, albeit with a few annoying things here and there. Overall, it's a good game. Just not the best Final Fantasy title.

First let me start by saying this is a different FF game than many others. Sure it has the RPG elements and the Japanese culture. But it is also very mature and has a story that tries to do too much at the same time. The gameplay mechanics are what make this game shine. There are many options at your disposal and it can be quite fast paced. In my opinion, the voice acting, not up to par HD remake and camera hurt this what could have been a fantastic game.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has an intense story and fun combat making it a welcome addition to returning fans of the original or new fans that never got a chance to play it. It is great they finally brought this game over here and helps fills a void of JRPGs on the current gen consoles.

I loved the Final Fantasy series until FFXII was released. The games that followed were not as fun as 7, 8, 9, 10, or 5. This game reminds me a bit of Crisis Core with its combat system and has a really deep and interesting story. If you have ever been a fan of Final Fantasy I would highly recommend giving the game a chance.

I didn't get to play this one on the PSP, so I can't comment on any similarities/differences, but as a long time FF fan, this game is simply amazing. A different battle system to get used to, but it is a refreshing change. The story and cut scenes are very well done...hopefully there will be more to the TYPE story line!

I was really interested in this game for two reasons. One was the demo of Final Fantasy XV and that is amazing. The other reason was I was anxious to finally play the game as I have heard a lot of great reviews. So far the game is fun but the story feels a bit disjointed at the beginning. I can see questions that will get answered later. The game play is different and engaging but seems easy if you just want to pass through the game but harder if you want to do well on the missions.
