To all new gamers, this is a perfect chance to experience what this masterpiece of a game was, even though the original PS game was far better, it is an excellent adaption to modern day games. And to all retro gamers, it is a beautiful way to travel back and remember the greatness of this masterpiece of a game. And the best is that there are more games/parts to the story to come!!!

This remake is exactly what you should expect. It's a remake of the game up until you leave Midgar and how gorgeous it is!! The platinum isn't as hard as some may make it out to be, however the story has much more detail. This is not a shot-for-shot remake but does have the exact same story. It is fleshed out and has added more side missions and quirks that aren't in the original.

They nailed it out the park with this one, the graphics, gameplay and the most memorable music now featuring various renditions of the original BGM all blend in really well. There's tons of twists and it's great to see a beloved game back again, the characters being fleshed out with voice overs is amazing, truly reliving the experience again but this time with attention to detail and a lot of great moments with each character. There are however some technical issues with the game such as texture work but nothing game breaking so most of the game runs flawlessly, another note to add is the base PS4 and PS4 Pro versions are almost identical so no loss there. This is the first part of a grand game so I'd expect the same quality from the next one.

I grew up playing RPGs and FF7 was always my favorite. When I heard about a remake, I was excited, but worried that it would be completely different. I am amazed on how well it turned out. The graphics are amazing and surprisingly I remember the story line. I can’t wait for the next one to come out and I look forward to beating this on the normal and harder level.

I can see why this game is so well loved by those who played the original. The gameplay is a lot of fun but the star of the show is the characters. They are all likable and interesting with their own backstories and motivations. I’m looking forward what the next entry in this series will bring. Hands down my favorite game soundtrack of the year as well.

As someone that loved the original FF7, this remake captures everything that made that game fantastic all in a new gorgeous package. I can't recommend this game enough. Even though it's just part 1 expect to put at least 50 hours into it. The Deluxe edition also comes with an artbook, a mini-soundtrack and beautiful steelbook. Worth the extra money in my opinion.

I have been waiting for this for so long and I am not disappointed. However, the game itself is not a loving "remake" of the original. It has lots of similarities but the story line is divergent of the beloved classic. That being said, the mechanics are no longer turn based and therefore, you have to have some ability to block and slash at all times. I haven't gotten to the Hard mode just yet but classic mode is challenging enough for me at this time. You will love the characters, even those they expanded on for this game to stay within Midgar's walls. This is a title worth playing over and over, just don't expect exactly what you loved. It is replaced by better graphics and a fight system to match.

It's a great remake of a great game, my only complaint is that they seem to have made everything in the game a minigame. I kid you not, at one point in the game, you literally have to pump air out of a gas line. It serves absolutely no purpose other than taking about 5-10 minutes to do depending on how fast you pick up on the minigame. Still a great game!

This game is amazing. I didn't play the original so I can't compare them but preordering the game was the correct choice. When I got it I immediately started playing and was amazed at the graphics, The game play, the story, and hopefully part 2 comes out soon. This is a great way to pass the time while being isolated and I definitely recommend it.

I have never played the original Final Fantasy VII, or any Final Fantasy. That being said, this game is phenomenal. In a market oversaturated by open world, non linear games, Final Fantasy VII Remake is a breath of fresh air that tells a compelling and intriguing story. The visuals are amazingly beautiful, even on an original, stock PS4. If you still have the chance to snag the Deluxe Edition, do it. Like I stated, I’ve never played a Final Fantasy game, yet still bought the Deluxe Edition due to amount of items included. The art book is beautifully put together, the soundtrack is physical (CD) and mesmerizing, and the steel book is included alongside A regular case of the game (so if anybody hates having to open steel books multiple times, wearing down the hinges and putting fingerprints on the artwork, this will be perfect for you). Overall, if you enjoy Final Fantasy, enjoy RPG’s, linear games, and Japanese stylization, this game is a must own. Be advised- there will be other installments, most likely releasing on next gen consoles. This is one of perhaps 3-6 parts. The game is also PS4 exclusive until April 2021. Despite this, I still see this game as a must own, must play ASAP game!

The game really pays tribute to the original. But it feels like a whole new game. So much more in depth story. Highly recommend the game. But Best Buy did drop the ball on pre order DLC. Because of this I won’t be pre ordering games from Best Buy anymore. This issue has been over a week long and still no resolve for most people that pre ordered.

Although I never played the original game, this remake had already garnered a special place in my heart. The combat is frantic, well balanced, and most of all fun! The graphics are a technical marvel and are extremely well detailed even on a launch PS4. Final Fantasy 7 Remake simply makes you happy to play, and eager to keep exploring its world.

I was very worried about this game, especially after the delays, but I’m thrilled that Square didn’t let me down. It’s fun, dramatic, and campy in the best of ways. Barrett is suitably over the top, Cloud and Sephiroth are both great, and Aerith has a great innocence to her. If you liked the original, I can’t see how you can’t love this game.

Ff7 Remake is one of the best games I've played in awhile. The story was amazing and the game play was great. But I will say if you played the original you might not like it because its not a 1 to 1 of the original. Since I never played the original I loved this game and can't wait for the next part to come out hopefully sooner than later

The game does an amazing job re-imagining of the original final fantasy 7 midgar story. The combat is amazing and makes you really think about your next move, thinking hard about what can take down the next enemy. The graphics are phenomenal and the character development supersedes the original. 10/10 game for new and old Final Fantasy fans.

it’s not a perfect game, but seeing the characters again and experiencing the story again is euphoric enough that I can easily forgive its flaws- for any fan of the original, I personally can’t recommend it enough. the deluxe edition is really nice too- everything individually packed inside a nice case that’s displayable in its own right.

I was so excited to pick this game up. I grew up as a big Final Fantasy fan so the idea that they were remaking this, possibly the best one in the series, was mind blowing. The main story started intact, but I’m surprised about how many adjustments were made. It really improved the game.

Simply put this is how to do a remake. It takes the best parts of the original and enhances everything. The combat is different but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. If you are an RPG fan, a FFVII fan, or a fan of just excellent game you need to check it out. There is a demo that you can try first but this is easily GOTY material

I never played the original in earnest but always loved the characters, music, and setting. This remake just takes all those things several levels higher, while also adding meaningful development of side characters and an engaging new battle system that successfully mixes real-time combat with turn-based. Hard to put down, great game.
