My pre-order arrived FOUR days late, after the release date of the game with zero updates from Best Buy about the situation. I would not have minded if I had received any sort of update, however, I spent four days wondering if it was even going to arrive at all. In addition, I did not receive my pre-order DLC code that was promised upon purchase. The box that held the deluxe edition canvas bag was severely damaged (thankfully no product was damaged). All that aside, the game is great, as to be expected. Combat is definitely different so if you were looking for pure nostalgia, try to keep an open mind. Point: Great game, especially if you already like FF. Just don't purchase from Best Buy.

Overall a great game, definitely a must play if you played the original or if you enjoy this genre of games. Very easy to pick up and play for a newcomer but also has a great depth to the battle for experienced players. Additional mode and item collection adds to replay value. While this is not the complete story from the entire original game, it expands upon an area and characters that now feel like they were originally glossed over or condensed. It was a great decision to remake this in parts so we can get a deep dive into everything we loved about the original. Summon system is kind of the only weak feature for me which makes the deluxe version kind of meh unless you like the art book.

I’ve waited for this game ever since I was a kid. Best Buy got it to me on launch day with all of the items. It’s been pure joy for me as I’ve played the remake of one of my childhood favorites

This is a outstanding remake to a game that came out in 1997, the graphics, voice acting, story, characters, and gameplay are all crafted beautifully, It is well worth the time invested in it!

Final Fantasy VII Remake is finally here and ever since I played the original over 20 years ago this remake brings back such nostalgic value. The FF VII original story holds up well and it's displayed beautifully on the PS4 with immense amount of detail that has went into the graphic design as well as the combat controls this game doesn't disappoint in those areas, The only issue I have personally is that this is the first chapter of the overall game and without any news of future chapter releases and updates on the duration or time it will take Square-Enix to compete each one, if they even will remains to be seen. Yet still, if your a fan of the original classic, this is a must play!

From the graphics, to gameplay, to the music, this was very great. A must play for gamers and a must have for FF7 fans. Of course it has its flaws and glitches but overall, it was very great.

I’ve played the final fantasy series since the very first installment on NES in 1990! This game has perfected the game play, fighting system, graphics and original story line in superb detail!

This was a long time in the making but game is well done and beautiful to see. Hopefully they finish the rest of the game sooner then this release especially with pandemic delays.

This remake is perfect for new fans of the series, and still pleasing to old fans of the series. Graphically, the game is beautiful. The music, environment, voice acting, and world is absolutely gorgeous. The pacing of the story may turn off a few of the old fans away, but I feel it does a pretty good job. Overall, it isn't the perfect game - but it is a very fun one with plenty of hours to explore.

This game is simply a masterpiece that you owe to yourself to play. The story remains one of the best ever written and the combat is a fresh take on a tried and true system. Get this game!

To some this game is perfect, to die hard fans of the original it is flawed. To me, it's amazing. It adds parts of the story that you never experienced in the original, while at the same keeping the main story the same. The new battle system is fun (in my humble opinion). Some die hard fans wanted it to stay turned based but let's face it, at this point in time, turn based games are a thing of the past. Besides, if you love the original that much, play that, it's there for you to enjoy. I haven't finished this yet, I'm only a little over 12 hours in as of this writing and I've enjoyed every moment. I can't wait to see how it ends and this is just the first part!

An interesting update of the first part of the original Final Fantasy VII. Great graphics and fun updated gameplay. Being only a small part of the original game is a big disappointment.

The remake has expands the FF7. It stretches out approximately the first 10 hours of the original with update graphics story and characters new and old getting a more developed backstory.

This game is so amazing love everything about it the characters the battle system the story all of it I can't wait until they make more to the story of this game has to be my 2020 goty!!

Updated graphics is always a good thing, new battle system and better fleshed out characters. There’s been a bunch of changes and I don’t mind them, might be too much for FF7 purists.

This was exactly what I had hoped for in this remake. The combat was fun, the graphics were great and the characters were on point. Just wish there was more of it. Highly recommended

FF VII Remake has been a awesome experience to play. I love the story to it and the graphics are gorgeous to watch. Anyone who has played the original FF VII will not be disappointed.

This is one of the greatest games I've ever played! If you played the original Final Fantasy VII back on the PS1, you'll really enjoy the remake. I can't wait until part II comes out!

The original Final Fantasy VII is one of my favorite games of all time so when I heard of the remake I was excited, but also skeptical - especially since I heard that turned based combat would be removed. However, this is a very well done remake. The new combat system feels fresh and really makes the nuances of each character stand out. Many side quests and characters from the original game have been reimagined and it's added a lot more humanity to the people you interact with. My only critique of the game has to do with how tedious it can be to obtain all of the skill books for each character. This usually involves replaying several acts multiple times. In some ways this is nice because you really do have to play the game differently on the Hard difficulty level, but it can also be a bit of a slog. Overall, this is still one of my favorite games this year. PSA - You may have heard about copies of the deluxe edition not having the soundtrack. I was one of the unlucky ones who had this happen. When I bought the game I thought that the soundtrack was digital. By the time I realized it was supposed to be a physical soundtrack I already had the game for weeks and didn't think Best Buy would believe me if I said something. In short, make sure your deluxe edition is complete.

It was beautiful to see all the character and world in 4K game is good just sucks that it’s not the full game. We need a crisis core remake with the same gameplay as the original
