Having played the original I had certain expectations for the remake. The game has many things true to the original but it also adds a lot of new content. The battle system takes some getting used to but once you do many different strategies for battles open up to you. The storyline has some surprises that weren't in the original and you'll have to play in order to make an opinion on those. Some changes are good and make sense. Like parts that could of been in the original but the technology at the time of the PS1 wouldn't allow it so they added it into the remake to flesh out some parts. Some other changes are questionable but they don't take away from the overall experience. The graphics and soundtrack are both beautiful. Definitely worth playing. Good for old fans of the original and new fans who never experienced the original.

This is so much more than a remake. I've already placed more than 50 hours into the game. In case if you haven't realized yet, it is not the whole FF7 story. It did have a data disc and a play disc which made me reminiscent of the old multiple disc games. The data disc though made getting into a game of this size so much quicker than the usual day one patch download for other major games. That was a major plus side.

excellent remake from a classic ps1 game , music, graphics , everything it great

It’s been somewhere around 10 years since the remake was announced.... worth the wait... I’ll say yes! Nostalgia ultra with new gameplay, added content and a world of difference in graphics. The only gripe I have with this game is that it’s length. Being only 1/3 of the full game leaves us wanting to complete the story in this upgraded 2020 version. Other than that it’s the closest to perfect as humans can get.

Honestly I’m glad the developers didn’t just release the original just with updated visuals. They took the material and rebuilt it from the ground up in a different light. Some purist maybe be negative towards it but I’m more excepting because they’re doing their own vision of FF7. This release isn’t the complete story but I’m just happy that it even exists; looking forward the next releases to complete the story.

One of the best (if not the best) games ever existed!!! Ive been a huge FF fan since my childhood, and I've been waiting for this project with “tooth and nail”. Finally, we get to experience one the best things ever happened to the gaming industry! I don't even know where to start! One thing is for sure. Nothing is perfect in this world, but If theres something that touches perfection, that is FFVII REMAKE!

Good gameplay similar to 13, also love the soundtrack, wish it was on xbox tho ;p;

Ff7 remake fills the longest single area of the original game with extra character development, answers questions that were not answered before, condenses previous elongated dialogue sections and makes combat more fun than ever. Ff7 remake has the perfect balance of nostalgia and new content to cater to new and old fans of the game. I debate often on if I can actually say I like it better than the original.

Good game. Worth the replay if anyone asked. Gameplay was different.

I grew up as a kid having heard of FInal Fantasy VII but never played the original. When I heard they were making a remake, I knew it was time to pick one up and play it even though there might be some variances from the original (e.g. graphics). Anyhow, I'm glad I did, the graphics are amazing and the gameplay is good even though I'm not much of a RPG person. I highly recommend checking out this remake!

Action RPG with fun gameplay and great characters. Music deserves a big nod as well.

Great game altogether, would definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of the series!

After such a long time waiting the game is pretty ok. Textures at some parts look like they were pulled straight from the original PS1 release even during cutscenes these bad textures are noticeable. The character models are amazing though and some scenes are incredibly done. I love the combat system and glad they kept the Materia system close to the same. It’s like a more refined FFVX combat system. Story is about a C+/B-, this is more of a Retcon than a remake. People new to the game might enjoy it though but since it’s only part of the full game it might leave them hanging. Took about 80~ hours to platinum so it’s not that long of a game either

I'm a huge fan of the original on the PS1 and I couldn't resist the chance to play the remake. Arguably one of the greatest RPGs in video game history and we'll deserving a remake. The original creators did it justice in this release. I'm glad they're adding more content and stretching it out across multiple releases than cutting original content. I can't wait to see the world outside of Midgar!

One of the greatest games of all time remade but not quite finished. Worth playing

An excellent reinterpretation of a classic game. Wonderful graphics, smooth combat.

So far the game is fantastic and I can't wait till the next installment comes out.
