Like many fans of the original game, I maintained hope that the game would one day return, with all the modern graphics and updates it deserved. And now, at last, it has arrived, and it's everything I could have hoped for! The graphics are gorgeous, the music more than lives up to Nobuo Uematsu's name, and the gameplay is the perfect mix of fun and challenging. I feel like I'm watching a movie every time I play it. Though I haven't finished it yet, the story so far has stayed true to the original, with plenty of brand-new elements to keep it fresh. In short, it's awesome, and I'd highly recommend it!

An excellent remake to the original FF7. Any hardcore fan will love this Remake. It's such a beautiful game. I'm on my 3rd play through and it's such an amazing game. The soundtrack is the true MVP and the graphics are phenomenal on the PS4. Feels like I am playing FF7:Advent Children. For someone getting new to the series, enjoy it. I would highly recommend a 2nd playthrough. Or, play the original first and then the Remake. I love the battle play/system. It's addicting to play!

I was a bit apprehensive about picking up the remake but I was not disappointed. The graphics are obviously updated but so is the fighting dynamic, its less turn based and more live action dynamic combat. I have not finished the game but it has been a lot of fun so far. A lot of filler has been added in to make it more fun to actually explore areas and become more immersed in the details that were never seen in the original game. Buyer Beware: The only downside is that is not the entire original game. For some, they may also find an increase in difficulty from the original.

FFVII Remake is a beatiful remake of a classic JRPG loved by so many people including myself. I played the original about a year ago and it felt amazing to see the classic PS1 graphics come to life in this amazing graphical showcase. The music is also redone and is beautiful as well. While I prefer turn based combat over action, they were able to smewhat combine the two styles into a hybrid action combat that I enjoyed. I'm not docking the fact that it's part 1 of the story because I knew that going in. I look forward to part 2 in the upcoming years.

The graphics are incredible and it tells a great story. This has something for everyone. If you’re new to gaming the battle system won’t overwhelm you on classic/easy or used to action games and RPGs the battle system can provide a wonderful challenge. For those concerned about the length don’t be this game even though overall will be episodic the length is an average of a typical Japanese role playing game around 35 to 40 hours even more if you’re going to tackle the game’s Hard mode. You will get your money’s worth with this purchase.

I am not finished with the game yet, but I have put around 20 hours in so far. I have really enjoyed the story, everything feels true to the original and is well paced. The graphics and music are great. The whole atmosphere still gives me the same feelings I had the first time I visited Midgar. The issues I have with the game mainly revolve around the camera. I feel there needs to be a bit more zoom-out available for both exploration and combat. I also HATE when the game takes over my camera to zoom in on something that is happening which I can ALREADY see happening and doesn't give back control for sometimes over 10 seconds. I can see enough of Biggs killing the turrets while I'm fighting to be sure he's still up there doing it, I don't need to have my camera and controls taken away and forced to watch it every time. This happens several times in the middle of combat and it is very frustrating wondering if one of my characters is going to get KO'd while I can't do anything about it.

Knowing for years that this was only going to be the Midgar section of the game, I was therefore not surprised when that was, indeed, the truth. So, my review will not refer to this aspect as it was heavily promoted and well known and anyone taken by surprise by this is either lying or didn't read two words about the game. As a the first part of a remake, the game succeeds. Tremendous care and quality have been shown into rendering the full experience of Midgar--an experience that was lasted only four to six hours in the original, depending on your playthrough. Given the importance of the city and the amazing view of it players were given in the original game, it was a joy to finally move through each part of it. While the game is shorter than most stand-alone FF games at around 50-60 hours, I believe this will vary with each successive segment, especially when the world really opens up. Whiel it wasn't presented as such, I still treated this game as a prologue of sorts to the games that are to come. I don't mean that the story is all prologue, but that the game itself is a prologue to the forthcoming games. I may be completely wrong, but I expect the others, with the possible exception of the last one, to be much longer than this--somwhere around the 100 - 120 hour mark. It's not absolutely perfect, but it is an excellent expansion of a location and story that seemed far too short in the original. Perhaps this is why Midgar is basically given its own game. It may have always meant to have been more but time, technical, and data constraints made it impossible when releasing the original. So, for those of you who enjoyed the original game and were entranced by Midgar but felt short shrifted by the short amount of time spent there, this will be a revelation. For those players who were expecting a full scale epic on par with other FF games, well, you were warned again and again and again.

I played the original in 1997 and loved it, and the Remake does a wonderful job of paying homage to the original while updating it with modern graphics and gameplay. The story is very cinematic, with added foreshadowing of plot points to come in future installments. Puzzles and mini-games kept the spirit of the original. There is even an option to do the combats in a sort of turn-based system like the original game (Classic mode). Loved it, only wish it was longer!

The 15 year wait was worth it. Faithful to the original masterpiece. Gorgeous graphics and interesting dialog to keep you listening. The story, characters, and music are what set this must own game upon the upper echelon of art. My only complaint is that it's been split into multiple chapters (assuming a trilogy) which means we'll have to wait at least two more years to experience the full game. Curious how Square Enix will work that out.

They did a great job with this remake. I wasn't sure that I'd like the battle system since I typically prefer turned based for RPGs but I like it a lot. It's sorta a hybrid between action and turned based in combat. Graphics are just plain amazing, Character design is excellent. The only negative is I've read it's kinda short compared to the original. I got the deluxe edition which is pretty cool with the soundtrack & art book.

I’m honestly a little sad as I’m getting close to the ending of FFVII remake. As a fan is the original, I’ve been waiting for this ever since the first PS3 tech demo. The game is beautiful, the story is done justice, and the characters are larger-than-life. The game is a little bloated in some areas and the side quests are not that interesting, but the main line story is everything I could have ever wished for in a remake.

The game is amazing, story, music, combat I can highly recommend to any fan of final fantasy or anyone who likes action packed rpgs. It can be a little cheesy at times but that’s to be expected with Japanese role playing games, if you can move past that there’s a an amazing story to be told in the city of midgar(know this is only part 1 of the final fantasy vii remake, there is a part 2 coming in the future possibly on ps5)

This game was beautiful, in terms of graphics and story. It was extremely fun and well paced. The only reason why I give it a 9.5 out of 10 is because it is linear and fairly short for a Final Fantasy game. But even considering, this game feels extremely fulfilling. The characters are well written, the side quests are fun, and the replay-ability is definitely there for a second run. I would highly recommend.

FF7 is a great remade rpg that looks nice and is fun to play, the story and characters are interesting to watch and learn more about. The combat has many customizable things to fit many different builds and styles of play, each character has there own weapon sets that have different abilitys and perks to them that also fit into different builds. Overall its a fun game and i look forward to the next parts.

This has been a very good remake, the combat is fun, the graphics are great, and the music is amazing. If you're new to FF7, you would pick up this game if you like action RPGs with great graphics and music. If you're not new to FF7, you would pick this up if you want to see a partial retelling of the original game. This is Part 1 of a planned series, and does not remake the entire FF7 game.

So many years of teasing us with test footage and it finally arrived! The graphics are gorgeous and the story has been fleshed out more. Combat is new, but familiar if you've played FFXV. I haven't had a chance to try Classic Mode, but after a few fights you get used to it. Fair warning it's only the first part of the game, but it makes me eagerly anticipate the next part of the story.

10/10 Now that I’ve said that, this is the first RPG I ever played. The full game covers the Midgar arc, which is the first 10~ hours of the original. They did an excellent job fleshing out back stories for characters who were rather forgettable in the original. They also portrayed Cloud better than the original. I actually liked Barret (he was the character I liked least in the original). Epic boss themes purveyed throughout the game and every area had a theme unique to the tone and feel of its environment. The game’s fighting engine was definitely the best way be played on an action RPG (this includes FFXV and KH). I enjoyed the chapter based storytelling. As a gamer who hates linear games, Kitase changed my mind - at least for this game. The linear nature of the game does not deter the player from exploring environment but rather ensures you are on task when certain points need to be met. By far the best game I’ve played in years and the ending (no spoilers) has me interested in finishing the story. I felt like I was playing out movie scene - and that was something I only dreamed of 20 years ago when hoping for something of a remake. This game is both remake and reimagine. The latter only a slight element of the game, and I enjoyed each of those reimaginings. Conclusion: epic fights, awesome story, beautiful and well-timed music frame this classic retake!

I have been a fan of the original game and played many times. This game completely blew away my expectations. I can not wait for the next parts in the remake! Graphics are stunning. The combat is some of the most fun combat I have ever played in any game. The story is staggering. I cried, I laughed, I was so invested in the characters. Do not hesitate, buy this game!

Beautiful visuals, I enjoy the live action battle system. FFVII for Ps1 though enjoyable was obviously turn based. The steel book is quite elegant. Characters are a bit cheesy at times but that is kind of typical for JRPG's. Very linear gameplay/story. I for one don't mind a linear game though a lot of gamers seem to disagree with my opinion on that topic.
