Excellent Remake

It is an awesome choice for any RPG loving gamer. If you have played the original it is also a good hit of nostalgia but playing the original is not a requirement for enjoying this remake.

Not a complete remake, but a re-imagining?

The battle system is still enjoyable despite not being turn-based (but can be toggled to, just not fun) and they did a great job with the materia system still. There are a few times it felt like the story was just stretched for no apparent reason, and due to the stretching some events didn't feel as 'impactful' or 'urgent' as they did in the original. Notice the game isn't named "Part 1" or anything, and if you play through the whole story you may realize why. I just hope that they don't ruin this going forward. I'd say this is worth the purchase whether you're a lover of the original or a first-time Final Fantasy purchase.

Worth The Hype?

In regard to this set, it’s definitely worth picking up. I’m a steelbook nut and there’s certain steelbooks that you need in the collection. This is one of them. As for the game, it’s great to revisit the FF7 world and updates form I’m just unsure how this episodic content will work.
