The Best and Most Neglected Final Fantasy

FF12 came out right beside the PS3—and it wasn't a PS3 game. Because of this, far too many people neglected it in favor of flashier titles, but that was a mistake. Fortunately, an opportunity exists to replay the game on your PS4 (enhanced for pro). FF12 was ahead of its time in so many of its systems, and because of this the game doesn't feel old except for its upgraded-but-still-dated visuals and compressed voice work. Get it and play the best PS2 Final Fantasy title finally.

I really enjoy that square is re-releasing remasters of these games. I got rid of my PS2 a number of years ago and this hit me right in the nostalgia. I’m still marinating my way through my playthrough.

I really enjoyed this game when I originally played it back in the day on the PS2. I liked the battles because of the gambit system, which allows you to create if-then statements that auto execute when conditions are met during battles. So you can set it up and watch the battles unfold, interjecting if necessary. The graphics so far look really good in this remaster and I look forward to replaying this masterpiece. A top five Final Fantasy on my personal list.

Final Fantasy XII on the Ps4 is the European version that released about a decade ago. Tons of new content is littered across a game that can potentially take you over 100 hours to complete.

One of the best FF games gets an upgrade

FFXII was a great experience over a decade ago, but many of the plodding game mechanics prevented it from being the masterpiece it could have been. Most, if not all, of the problems from the original PS2 release have been corrected, and the result is the definitive edition of a polarizing entry in the series. It's not turn based, so that might prevent some "purists" from enjoying the gameplay, but give it a chance and you will love it.

Reprocessed textures, 1080p, Anti Aliasing, and a masterfully orchestrated soundtrack (even 4 new music pieces!). And that's purely the presentation. The game itself is the most underappreciated Final Fantasy in the series, and the Class system from the International Release that never saw a release in the US provides much needed forced customization to the gameplay. Give this game a chance, or replay it again with this very well done remaster.

    Unpopular Opinion: Best FF evah

Okay, I played the original FF on the NES and was also a fan of FFVII and FF Tactics. This was the first FF that I felt absolutely obsessed over when it first came out. Among the first real-time turn-based versions of the game, it posed a challenge of creating a series of gambits (programmable sequences for party members) that had me trying a ton of different combos. And I love Balthier and Fran. An odd Han Solo and Chewbaca type.

If you played this game previously when it was first released on the PS2, then you know how unique and memorable it was - especially the battle system. If you haven't played it before, give it a try now, as the enhancements have made it much more user-friendly, and there are some memorable characters and a great script to go along with the gameplay. Kudos to Square for remaking a game that wasn't well-known but definitely deserved it.

FFXII is a great game in its series and this is a new opportunity to re-explore the world with new zodiac job system, in English. The multiple License board options make the game enjoyable and fulfill what I have been thinking the original game was lacking. Soundtrack enhancement is a plus while it still captures the core of original music. I would recommend this to any FFXII fans.

This remaster really does the game justice, performance is smooth and the game looks fantastic considering this was originally a PS2 title. It also included very needed changes from the international Zodiac version which North American players have not had a chance to experience in most cases, very much worth the buy for anyone looking for a slightly unconventional mainline Final Fantasy title.

Gotta be honest - FFXII was the last mainline Final Fantasy I fully enjoyed. So it was refreshing to be able to play it again in HD after the train wreck that was XIII and XV (I'm not an MMO guy, so I haven't tried XIV). The fast forward button is a HUGE timesaver, and the newly done soundtrack sounds fantastic. For those purists, you can get the original one, but the difference is negligible.
