I've played every FF game since SNES. Loved them all. This one is quite different with more real-time style combat. I missed the classic turn-based style of previous versions at first, but really got into the faster paced action after the first couple of battles. Great story so far (of course, it is FF) incredible amount of depth to gameplay and other things to do off the main questline. I'm impressed!

The story is good for the first 10 chapters, the world is nice and the banter and chemistry with the people is nice. The world is large, but can feel a bit stale after awhile with the driving back and forth getting attacked by the same types of enemies over and over. The gameplay is vastly improved from the previous games. If the last few chapters and the end of the story didn't feel rushed I would still give this game a 5 star rating but it's def. worth the purchase as is.

Great Characters and Graphics Yet Lacking in Story

The game is a fun, action packed RPG for those not into the typical " turn based" combat style of the original games. It was a new take that i didn't think I'd like but the actions are fluid and unique enough to keep me and my friends entertained. I do however prefer the combat system of the original games but wssn't enough to knock a star off for. The thing that knocked a star off was the story being pretty cliche and lack luster as compared to the previous games. TL;DR For those jumping into the series for the first time in hopes of good combat, great character development and amazing graphics this is the perfect game but don't expect a story that'll pull you in.

The 15th game for the main Final Fantasy series returns and makes an amazing game since it feels like older Final Fantasy games. With the ability to do a ton of side quests, while you can freely train and explore, and there's just so much add-on content such as live festivals, or DLC stories, as well as the new Comrade (multiplayer) mode introduced recently, I give this game 5 stars since it's the best and most abundant Final Fantasy to date. Although the main story is easy to do quickly, the side quests can keep you busy for hours on end.

Awesome graphics, brand new action combat in the FF universe, a so so story, but enough content here to get your moneys worth and then some.

Let's get this out of the way first: everything you've heard about the story is true, although I'd argue that its failures lie in presentation more than plot. Monumental events happen off-screen, motivations are opaque, and important insights into the characters and world are hidden away in side media (including a movie, animated mini-series, and radio drama). If you're someone who enjoys the Final Fantasy series for the story, as so many do, you are bound to be disappointed.
But fan disappointment over the story has overshadowed the many things that the game gets right. Real-time action combat that is easy to learn but has real strategic depth if you dig into it. A unique spin on both traditional JRPG questing and contemporary open world design that captures the feeling of a road trip. Impressively written and voice acted main characters that feel truly alive.
Playing the game, it wasn't difficult to feel the absence of all the things the developers would have added to the game if they had only had more time: more cutscenes, more towns, more fleshing-out of the side characters. But when the four bros are walking down a moonlit hillside back to camp, laughing and joking about their brush with death in the hidden dungeon behind the waterfall that you just conquered, and you're already thinking forward to what you will have Ignis prepare for dinner and the pictures that you hope Prompto caught of the boss fight - then you begin the appreciate that what IS here is something special.

I have played 12-15 hours so far and love it. I can't give it a 5/5 cause it's not perfect and the story isn't the draw but it's the gameplay. I liked the demo a lot and decided to get it. I bought it at $32 with GCU and used some credits to pay $20 out of pocket.
I have never bought a RPG before cause of the pause ...strategy ...hit then pause again defense or offensive strike RPG strategy of all the old games. I love that they switched to a action base combat. I like strategizing but with live action besides when you pull up health boost etc.
The story so far doesn't awe me but it's the character development between the bro comradery that makes the story interesting. Looking at Cindy outfit doesn't hurt my eyes either. It's amazing how they dress some of the women. I guess they figure since no women are the main characters they might as well keep the men intrigued by looking at the side female mission characters. I am interested in the story enough to see the ending.
My main gripe with the game is hearing the same repeated dialogue where they complain about being hot while running in the desert with the same response from the big guy. Also the other guy singing about the riding the chocobo(chicken creatures). How can a game that took 10 yrs to make Not have much deeper dialogue variations like GTA and other great open world games?

So far the combat is highly enjoyable. I was left slightly disappointed with the car controls (very limited) but otherwise enjoy the visuals of the game. The story leaves you hanging a bit on details but you can get the general idea. Tons of side quests and other things that can be done. Don't want to spoil the mystery. If you're a fan of the series I would say give it a try!

Great game that has an open world for exploration. The story may be linear however gameplay is not. Besides the main story their are multiple side quests and hunts to experience to help develop your characters stats. The environments are beautifully rendered as expected with any Square Enix game. Plenty of gameplay to continue after you complete the main story as well.

Final Fantasy 15 Review

For a game that was in development for 10 years, my final thoughts of the game are mixed. First of all the final fantasy turn based mechanic of the game was really not present here. They just made it a hack and slash kind of a game. And the most annoying part of the gameplay is your teammates, I mean the AI behind is so bad and they just always die and it's pretty rare of them to be useful sometimes. Also that pause thing when you are gonna heal should have been removed out of the game in the first place. I feel like that thing really destroys the excitement of the battle. The driving part is the worst of all! It's so awkward to the point of I was just looking at my phone more often that the game when they're driving to the destination of the waypoint. But in all of it's flaws there is some great things too though. The world is so huge and rich. There is a lot of things to do and to CATCH,battle and also to learn. Story was not the great but has a realistic ending to it. I have to say that the dungeons are amazing challenges and the summons are freaking awesome!! Some of the bosses we're OK, But I wish they could have been better. I rate it as a 3.5 all in all.

Best Final Fantasy in Years

Final Fantasy XV has the challenging task of feeling fresh, new, and innovative while also staying true to what fans of the long-running series have come to enjoy. I have put over 70 hours into XV and will say that it's a hard game to review. FFXV and Fallout 4 are the only games I have put considerable time into in the past few years, for good reason on both accounts. The best way to sum up FFXV is to say that the whole is definitely better than the parts. Overall, I highly recommend the game, though it's definitely not going to be for everyone. Here are some quick thoughts:
Combat - Combat is simple on the surface, but insanely deep underneath. You will play for hours and still feel like you haven't really mastered it yet. Camera issues are undoubtedly here and frustrating, but overall it's a lot of fun.
Magic - Magic is incredibly different compared to previous entries and is much more situational than spammed.
Story - The bromance is real and the characters are very likable and deep. You truly care for these guys by the time the end rolls around. Having said that, the overall story hits some speed bumps from time to time; some so egregious that there are future patches and DLC that Square-Enix plans to address these issues, but they shouldn't be there in the first place.

i know that saying that this is the best FF in a while isn't a big compliment, given the 5 or 6 consecutive turds square enix has put out since FFX. but this game is pretty good. story is interesting, game play is enjoyable, and i like the open world feel. definitely a buy for any FF or JRPG fan.

The game is a lot more open than previous Final Fantasy games, but it still has a grand sweeping story. The real gem here is the characters, who have great chemistry and are enjoyable to play as. The new battle system is more like Kingdom Hearts than Final Fantasy, but still very satisfying.

This is the best final fantasy game in years. The graphics are gorgeous, story line is inviting and fun and game play is smooth and enjoyable. Combat system is chaotic but fast paced and fun. I've played pretty much every FF game since FF7 and this one is gets the series back on track.

Game is fun not finished with it yet but played about 6 hours worth.
Load times are long and the traveling around in the car for side quest is not to great. Do like that there are plenty of side quest. Also while fighting the camera views get annoying enemies can't be seen behind trees and other objects.
But overall it's a good game.

I was looking for something new to play and went with FFXV since it was on sale a few weeks ago.
The game is gorgeous, and the combat reminds me of Mass Effect / Dragon Age. The world feels like it's alive, for the most part. I put the world/map up there with some of the better open world RPG's, but it's also no Witcher III.
