Customers are saying

Customers praise the enjoyable gameplay, compelling story, and stellar voice acting in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Many appreciate the game's unique dungeon crawling elements and consider it a great remake of a classic title. While some found the map design less engaging than in other entries, the absence of the weapon triangle system was also noted. Overall, the game is lauded for its challenging yet accessible difficulty and beautiful art style.

The game has some frustrating map design (a holdover from the original FE Gaiden, which this is a remake of), but overall has some really interesting systems, great characters, gorgeous art, and solid gameplay. Not a bad buy.

I've played a decent amount of Fire Emblem games and while I still enjoy this one to a degree, it is not what I expected. This is a remake of an older title, Gaiden, and seemingly due to them remaking that older title, they've removed many major mechanics from more recent games and simplified others. The weapon triangle is gone, your mages can just tank whatever for a good portion of the game, maps are smaller and generally require little to no strategy to easily win without any losses. I feel I may have enjoyed this game more had I not played other FE titles before, but as it is, it just feels like a weak addition to the series.

I'm about 10 hours in, so far the story is pretty fun. I really enjoy turn based strategy games, so the fire emblem run has always been a fav. The 3D dungeon exploring is an ok change of pace. All in all its a fun game.

It's a great remake of an older Fire Emblem game. Difficulty is high but appropriate for the series. Loved it.

I really had no familiarity with the original release of this game in Japan, but have been pleasantly surprised playing through this myself. I really enjoyed Awakening, but hadn't gotten far into Fates. I am a few hours into this game and intend to play through to the end. I really enjoy the 3D dungeons in an RPG style and Permadeath can be disabled for those that fear the difficulty in this game. The story and dialog in this game are top notch in my opinion.

A fun addition to the fire emblem series. The dual routes for the story lines and the dungeon crawling makes this entry unique for someone that has only played US released FEs.

Shadows of Valentia takes an old Fire Emblem story and breathes new life into it. This game is a remake of the Japan only title Fire Emblem Gaiden and they have done a wonderful job. The battles are challenging, the characters are interesting, the story is one of the best in the series and the new exploration areas are a great change of pace! If you are feeling like experiencing FE at it's finest, look no further!

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, based on an older Fore Emblem from Japan, is an enjoyable and simpler game than its recent counterparts. While I loved Awakening, I'm having a blast with Valentia. The 3D dungeon exploration is a fun mechanic, and while the combat and relationships are simplified (ie no marriage), they are well honed and capture all the great elements of Fire Emblem. Both challenging and engaging, don't pass this one up!

This is definitely the classic Fire Emblem experience, but there are a lot of interesting tweaks. The added dungeon crawling is a fun way to mix things up, and the two parallel storylines keep things interesting. If you enjoyed past Fire Emblem games you'll like this one. If you're new to this, no worries, it's very easy to get into. It is not necessary to have played the past games to enjoy this one.

This is a good remake, but may make some of the current fans uneasy about the challenge it presents. I enjoyed the cutscenes as they are definitely worth watching. I also liked playing two separate paths to see the story unfold. Overall, it is not Fire Emblem Awakening, but it delivers a great story nonetheless and will please fans of the series for the chance to experience this game!

This is an amazing remake of a 1990’s Japanese Exclusive, I am a fan of the Fire Emblem series, have been since Path of Radiance, and I can say that this is probably Nintendo’s best Fire Emblem Title, better than Awakening and definitely better than Fates!

The remake does a great job of reenvisioning the game for a modern era without actually modernizing the old gameplay. Items and spells stay true to their originals, and Lossing newer gameplay mechanics such as the weapon triangle and rescue/pair ups. A few touch ups to unit growth rate and dungeons make this a fantastic game, especially if you haven't played the original before.
