Customers are saying

Customers enjoy Fire Emblem: Three Houses due to its engaging gameplay and rich story. Many players feel the game has great overall performance, top-notch voice acting, and plenty of replay value. Some players find the higher difficulty levels extremely hard, and a few think some of the maps are repetitive and the game is not fast-paced. Overall, the game seems to be well-received.

I love fire emblem but I hate this game it is mostly conversation and little to no fighting one of the things that made FireEmblem great is the battles.

    Best Fire Emblem in ages.

This game is filled with a lot of what makes a Fire Emblem title great. Huge cast of characters, an epic story (with a nice twist that reminded me of FE4) and soundtrack, some of the most strategic and balanced gameplay the series has to offer. I do have some personal gripes, though. The avatar character (Byleth), he (or she if you prefer) is a pretty cool one by design and concept but they should be taken out of the series IMO, they serve no purpose other than constantly coddling the player in praise (which really isn't necessary), and stealing the spotlight of story from the real main characters, even watering down some of them because of their existence. For example, I think Edlegard is a mostly cool character but it seems like a lot of her motivation comes from this guy even if you don't side with her and it's like...why? He doesn't even talk, and in perspective of the lore, really has no idea who he is unlike some other certain characters. Along with being completely mute for the most part, most of the dialogue choices don't even matter and there are so many situations where you only have one option of dialogue. I work out and put autoplay dialogue on during cutscenes, why should I stop for such a pointless feature? Exploring the monestary, a new feature to this game, was also something I'm not a fan of. It was alright the first playthrough, but for a game where they expect the players to grind through 4 times to fully understand the story it's a bit much of a time sink to rinse and repeat buffing your party Monster Hunter style, clicking on a dot and studying which characters to give them to (out of about 40+ etc. I prefer FE to be more straightforward, FE7 style or FE9 where you do have a break in between battles but it's purely for inventory management, supports and bonus exp(which is a way better feature than all the grinding nonsense,IMO) One last gripe I have is the games UI and graphics. It runs off the FE: Warriors engine and let's just be honest, for this day and age especially, it just looks ugly and I think mostly everyone agrees. I prefer the battle map to have the sprites personally too, over the FE9 and 10 style models. Overall, I had a lot of fun and enjoyment from this game. Hopefully Intelligent Systems continues to make FE even greater once again, Happy 30th anniversary to the series! (Just to clarify this reviewer has owned since day 1?, purchased from another retailer.)

I just picked this up from Best Buy this morning and I have not yet put this game down some 8 hours later. From the moment you fire this game up, you can just tell immediately that you are in for a special treat. The characters are great, the pacing of your interactions with them is perfect. And then there is the story and the battles. When you fight, the camera zooms in on the action, but it is done so well, and the hits are so intense and fast, that it does not take away from the action or feel forced. Even now, while I am writing this review, I am thinking about going back and playing some more, and that my friends is the markings of a great game. Trust me, you owe it to yourself and your Switch library to own and play a game of this quality.

Play the classic mode that once your students die they cannot rejoin you in battle. It is a very good change of pace game for me. I usually am stuck playing a shooter or a sports game on my series X. I needed this game! 10/10 so far. It is challenging, insightful, and the story is great so far. It feels like I am reading a book while playing a game.

Best Switch Game Since BotW -

This is my favorite game on Switch. Harkens back to Switch in 2017 when brand new entries in a franchise would launch on the system and feel really fresh or advanced from their previous iterations. Breath of the Wild gave us the open world Skyward Sword couldn't even attempt - Odyssey returned to open sandbox Mario games with fresh new mechanics and ideas - MarioxRabbids felt fresh and bold and beautiful and show how much color and joy tactics games can have. Splatoon2 further showed how colors can be colorful, fashionable, nonviolent and effortlessly cool. Xenoblade 2 brought some of the sentiment into GIANT dense RPGs (doesn't all have to be grim-dark). FE Three Houses joins these games and takes a bit of what I liked about each. Has the color and energy and fresh art direction of Splatoon2 through the tonal filter of a narrative style like XB2, and not shying from deep rpg systems. Has the tactics JOY of MarioxRabbids, but goes goes deeper. Has ACTUAL SANDBOXY elements like Odyssey. Has the feeling of danger and epic scope, mystery and emotional resonance of BotW. This, 24 hours in has become my favorite Switch game. My only complaint is sometimes the backgrounds and random details (like on a shirt) look a little low rez and ugly. The game is beautiful though. Super minor complaint.

I have always been a PS4 gamer, but I actually bought a Switch so I could play this game! So glad I did! The graphics are absolutely beautiful, the story is interesting and the dialogue is a great. I’m only 4 hours in, and haven’t had any glitches, and haven’t had one moment when I’ve questioned any of the game mechanics. I love when games just works! Looking forward to really diving into this.

The first strategy RPG that I've really liked. Excellent strategy mechanics and customization, a banging soundtrack, and an intriguing story. Im not a fan of the SRPG genre, but I am definitely looking forward to the next Fire Emblem SRPG after playing Three Houses.

This game is a great jumping on point for those who are new to the Fire Emblem series. The game introduces new mechanics slowly every battle and the new rewind feature is great for newbies. Building relationships with students and faculty in between battles is also a fun new twist on the FE formula.
