A sublime Strategy JRPG
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An unpopular opinion towards major AAA series in video games is to say you haven’t played any of the older ones to truly appreciate what’s in front of you. For me, this is my very first full dive into a Fire Emblem game and I’m glad I took the plunge. The music is beautiful. The art style is well done and the gameplay is fantastic. The issues I had are glaringly obvious while playing on a 4K tv in docked mode. The lines are extremely jagged with zero aliasing and there is slowdown while running around the main hub of the game. The game looks like an upscaled 3DS game which isn’t surprising considering the last few were released for Nintendo’s handheld. The performance is disappointing for an in-house developer with access to optimization secrets from the hardware manufacturer. Despite my issues with the game I would heartily recommend this to anyone looking to scratch their strategy rpg itch. Between the separate houses you have to choose from it’s like you have three games in one well wrapped package. There’s plenty to love here if you’re willing to look for it.

Engaging Strategy Game for all Skill Levels
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fire Emblem Three Houses is one of the best strategy games I have played. Not only does it feature engaging gameplay, but an engaging story and loveable characters as well. The player set difficulty level allows for both veterans and newcomers of turn based strategy games to enjoy this action packed game.

Great story. Great characters. Great strategy game
||Posted . Fell in love with the story and characters and had me instantly hooked. This game has a lot of replay value. There are three stories you can play with decisions you make that will affect the story. It's a must have for switch owners.

Three Houses
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty fun game, you can play through the story multiple times and have new experiences each time. Can easily suck away 120+ hours of your life. Can be slow to get into if you aren't familiar with the series.

Very fun, but too easy.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably one of the best Fire Emblem games. The characters are likable, music is great, and combat is addictive. The graphics are not very good though. Outdoor maps look very bad. The framerate can drop occasionally. People may find hard mode too easy, but a harder difficulty will be added in the future.

Great game with great replayability
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The story in this game is incredible and each time you play, you only get to hear about it from one angle. The gameplay and battle mechanics are very fun, though the game is not ultra challenging if you are familiar with the genre. There are a few difficult spikes but they are usually manageable.

Love this game!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hadn't played a Fire Emblem before but this looked too good to pass up. I'm glad I got it, because so far it's been a lot of fun! I'm playing on Hard/Classic, and the stakes feel high. The interactions with students is very fun and reminiscent of Persona. Definitely interested in the series now!

A must play Fire Emblem game.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent story and great overall RPG for Fire Emblem lovers. This is a unique take on the series where it tasks you to do other things than just one battle after another. The characters are portrayed excellently. This one is worth playing.

A fun and engaging installment to the FE series!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're a fan of tactical turn based gameplay, you are likely familiar with FE by now. If not, this game is a decent entry point. I say decent because it does deviate from some of the classic FE mechanics. Specifically, past games had a 'weapons triangle' system of strengths and weaknesses that operates like rock paper scissors. That system did offer satisfying tactical complexity, but was mostly considered unrealistic. FE: Three Houses deemphasizes that system by only implementing it through specific abilities. If you were to play this FE first and return to older games in the series, you'd notice the impact this makes on gameplay. Otherwise, Three Houses retains the permadeath mechanic for units that fall in battle, like other FE games. However, it does allow players to choose not to play with permadeath, which is a bit different. As much as I appreciate the challenge that comes with permadeath, I do think that making it optional does make the game much more accessible compared to previous FE games. A welcome change. There is a lot to like about the game. I withheld a star in my rating because the 'Monastery' home base mode is a little rough around the edges still, mostly pertaining to camera motion and navigation, UI related issues that cause a little friction. It's not terrible though, seeing as most (if not all) games have some sort of imperfection. I've yet to notice any imperfections resulting from bugs, which would be more concerning to me. The monastery offers a lot of value to the experience, since it is the primary means of building support between characters and raising their skill levels between battles via training. I would certainly recommend this game to anyone interested in this genre of gameplay.

Excellent switch game to pick up
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really enjoying this game on my first playthrough. I believe it has about 150 hours of content if you play through each House's perspective. Great graphics, solid story, and tactical game play that stays true to the core fire emblem systems.

Best RPG I’ve played on Switch so far!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game holds onto the classic Fire Emblem feel while diverging from the rock-paper-scissors weapon superiority system. The story is interesting the whole way through, though at times I feel worried I miss some of the side story due to the school week schedule system. Great game.

Another Hit for a Great Series
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fire Emblem gas been a favorite franchise of mine for many years. Three Kingdoms does great service to the franchise by opening several different story paths that reveal the complexity of armed conflict while also giving the player substantial choice in play-style. There is so much game here, and one could play through multiple times with very different experiences. I particularly like your integration into the story as the teacher for your class of warriors, as it provides an excellent in-game rationale for why you are guiding the development of individual members of your army. I'm also pleased that my biggest fear - that the game focused on a school rather might reduce the scale of the conflict - was indeed a non-issue. There is much at stake in the storyline, and playing it out along several paths reveals more backstory and connection. This is truly a Fire Emblem game for Fire Emblem fans!

Best game on the Switch
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I started playing I thought all the students were just stock anime characters. I had no idea how invested I'd get in all of my students, including the ones that ended up being on opposite sides. Combat is fun, localization writing and voice acting were superb.

One of the better modern Fire Emblems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pre-ordered the game and have been enjoying it so far. As usual with new FE games, there's a bit of a learning curve to figure out what traditional mechanics have been kept, what's been tossed, and how to deal with new mechanics; the most startling difference to me was the lack of a weapons triangle. The game has four different routes to play, so there's a lot of play time built in, and with the monastery function (which is much more fun than Fates's castle or Echoes's dungeon crawling), it's possible to get sidetracked for additional hours. I'm well above 80 hours of playtime and I'm still on my first run through. The only negative things of note so far is about the retailer, not the game. Despite pre-ordering, Best Buy did not get my game to me on time. If I'd known I was going to miss the entire first weekend of play by purchasing with Best Buy, I'd have purchased from Amazon instead, even though I had Best Buy gift cards.
