Love this tracker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my opinion, FitBit finally got it right. Auto functions to track steps, activities, and sleep. Customizable notifications to help free you from your phone. And even a watch display so I no longer wear a watch, and a tracker, and ... All in a sleek design that I'm sure will soon get lots of fashion options. If you're looking for an unobtrusive tracker with lots of functionality, but without the size and hassle of a "smart" watch, this is it. One down side, the display scratches and scuffs easily. A screen protector is a must.

Nice upgrade from my Flex
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the flex for 5 months to try to get a little more active. Once I saw the upgraded features of the Alta, I jumped on it! I wasn't wearing my watch anymore, since I didn't want so much stuff on my wrist. Now I can see the time on my Alta. I also love being able to see texts & calls, which is a great help when carrying your phone in a pocket or purse. Finally, having the readout for steps, miles, calories, active minutes & battery life means that you don't have to keep checking the app to see your status. There are tons of really cute(and inexpensive) bands available on the internet that you can change out, so this new accessory goes with everything. Since having my Alta, my 'activity level' has increased by nearly 20% and I'm on my way to better health!

good activity monitor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been thinking about buying an activity monitor for a while but at a recent family reunion after seeing how many of my cousins had them I decided to get my own. I did the research and decided on a Fitbit Alta. For the price, I think this is a good product for measuring my exercise. I like this model because it has a large screen that shows the time, day and date with a turn of your wrist. With a tap it shows my steps, calories expended, time it takes to reach this level and distance I have walked. It also tracks my sleep patterns. Very interesting results. It vibrates when I reach certain levels or when I am inactive it gives encouraging messages. Also, what I really like is that it vibrates and then displays messages and phone calls coming to my smart phone. Cons: hate the strap. I find it very difficult to snap together. I had to use some pliers at first to get the 2 snaps in the holes. It is impossible to read the screen when out in the sun. Also is not water proof. That would be a nice feature. Over all, I am very happy with the Alta. It is comfortable to wear even at night.

Amazed @ the awesome Alta
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded my 12 yr old son to the Alta when his Flex broke due to a defect. He loves it! He even sleeps with it on which is a bonus because I can get a look at how well he slept. Comfortable, durable, good battery life, easy to charge, he can take it on/off himself, the bands are interchangeable & it's loaded with features that make it even better. The display is nice and bright but won't blind you, the silent alarm wakes you up gradually, call/text message alters, and he was super pleased that it gave him a watch with the date and time also. Fitbit knows their stuff! I'm very pleased with their products. With my son and I both having a Fitbit we can challenge each other and motivate each other to get moving together.

Great fitness tracker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned several fitness trackers, since the first Jawbone came out. This is so much easier to use than most trackers. I also always wear out the bands within a few months, this one is replaceable so I don't have to get an all new tracker just because the band broke

Great fitness watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the fitbit flex before this one and I love the new screen and features. It does all the same things and more that the fitbit flex did. The screen is nice for seeing time, steps and more. I also like being able to connect it to my phone and see text messages, calendar notifications, and who is calling. It doesn't do heart rate or flights of stairs but I didn't really need that anyways and I like the smaller size and the ability to change the bands which you don't get with the other models with those features. I wish it was waterproof but other than that I am very happy with my purchase so far.

Loving it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally had a Samsung gear fit to pair with my Samsung phone but once I switched to an iphone it obviously no longer worked with my new phone. I've been hesitant getting this but a friend has it and showed me how it worked. It's similar to the Samsung fit gear. Notification, step tracking, activity tracker, silent alarm. The size is bit on the big side for me but it's fine. It works well tracks everything well. If there's only one thing is how it doesn't have a heart rate monitor. So if you're looking for one of those in this one, you'll have to pick another model.

Great activity tracker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fitbit Alta is a great tracker. Originally I had bought charge but the band has broken so Fitbit replaced my band with Alta. Though I miss the step tracker but Alta is a great tracker, better looking and seems to have a better battery.

Accurate and convenient
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My work has a program where if you wear a Fitbit long enough you start to get points that save you money on health insurance. I'd had a Fitbit One a few years ago, but I lost it because I kept it in my pocket, so this time around I wanted one of the wrist models. I quickly settled on the Aria. I have an Apple Watch and wanted to keep them on the same wrist, so I didn't get the more watch-like model. And I wanted the display face so I could just look at how many steps I'd gone, rather than having to look at my phone. The Aria looks good next to my watch. Both are all-black, so compliment each other well... One's wide, one's narrow. The features I like about the Aria: * The display turns on when you turn your wrist to look at it. * There are about six displays... Steps, calories, time, etc. * You can cycle through them with a tap, and set in which order (and which shows up when you first turn your wrist –– default is the time, but I have Steps show up) * LONG battery life –– about a week. * When the battery's getting low, the remaining-life display becomes the default until it's recharged. * Bands come in an assortment of about five colors, that are pretty typical for sport watches. * The band is comfortable. * It "celebrates" with a buzz and a little "fireworks show" when you reach your step goal for the day. * The iPhone app interface for it is easy to use. Things I don't love about the Aria: * The band uses pin-and-hole. There are two pins. It's comfortable once closed, but it's harder than I'd like to close it. Of course, if it were easier, it'd be more likely to fall off; I will admit, I have NO concern about it falling off. * The charger is USB, of course, which is as it should be, but it feels flimsy and has only a five-inch cord. I guess I'm used to iPhone charger cords, but I'd have liked it to be two or three feet long. * This model does not count staircases "because there wasn't enough room for the altimeter." I think they could have found a way, even if the body had to be a little bigger. * While you can cycle through the displays "with a tap," it often takes two or three before it gets the idea. * The display washes out in even low sunlight, but is reliably visible indoors. All in all I'm happy with the product and I'm glad I bought it. It looks good on my wrist and is comfortable and it's cool to be able to look down and instantly see how many steps I've taken. It does motivate me to exercise more, which was the point. :-)

Terrific Device With Great Usability
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After years of faithful use, I accidentally washed by FitBit One and ended its life. I knew I wanted to replace it with something for my wrist but I didn't need anything TOO fancy. Thanks to the assistance of a store employee, I decided on the FitBit Alta and I couldn't be happier. Clear display, long lasting charge, easy synch and very accurate. It can be a little tricky learning to tap on the side of the device to turn it on, but a quick wrist flick will do the same thing. Overall, it's very durable and comfortable. I'm very happy with my choice.

First Time Fit Bit User
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first time purchasing a fitness tracker. I picked the Alta because of the size & the functions. I am very pleased with the purchase. Its super easy to set up & use. Battery life is about 5 days and recharge is very quick, maybe an hour? I wear it almost all the time, except when swimming or showering. Its lightweight and I hardly even know it's there. It syncs to my smartphone so I get phone calls, texts and calendar alerts. If you're looking for an easy tracker with a great price I recommend the Alta.

Love it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously have had the Fitbit Charge but hated the ugly black band and that I couldn't customize the band. It looked more like a sports watch. I love the sleek design of the Alta and the many choices in bands. It seems pretty accurate and I love that it recognizes my exercise a lot better than the Charge did. It does not show flights of stairs climbed, but I don't really care about that. The teal color is very pretty and so far the band does not seem to be getting dirty or falling apart. It also stays on very well. Highly recommend

Excellent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have debated getting an Apple Watch but was more interested in having a nice fitness tracker with a solid social application. I chose to get the FitBit Alta which provides all I need (Phone notifications, Calendar Notifications and Text Notifications along with a superior fitness tracking capability) and more. Stylish, comfortable and slim to wear when playing basketball, running or any other activities. I may still get an Apple Watch just for gadgets, but it I do I will still wear the Alta for fitness. It is just that darn good!

Excellent tracker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I started with the Fitbit Zip then upgraded to the Flex and now the Alta. I'm in love with it. I feel it accurately tracks my steps. The battery life is good (I don't use it while I sleep). I love that its also a watch and it shows me texts I recwived, calendar events and alerts me of incoming calls. My favorite feature is the 10 minutes before the hour reminder to walk alert, it sends you fun messages to keep you going. I also purchased the leather band in "blush" for when I go out and I love it. Highly recommend it.

Does not monitor heart rate, otherwise great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my father for Christmas. We got it all set up and then realized it does not monitor heart rate, which was the main feature he was seeking. He exchanged it for the FitBit Charge HR, which he loves. The Alta has a slim low-profile look and otherwise met all of his needs (sleep monitoring, step tracking, distance walked, and time spent active), but if you're looking for something that features a heart rate monitor you may want to consider alternatives.

Good, but not for everyone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Alta for a month now, and the overall experience has been good. My wife had been using her (different brand) tracker for a year and a half and liked it, so I thought I would try one also. I browsed some reviews and top 10 lists and decided on the Alta. I purchased the Alta the night before we left for a vacation. The initial setup was harder than expected, but after letting it charge for overnight and resetting it (thanks to online forums!) I was able to complete the task the next morning before we left. Day 2 I was already disappointed because I hadn't thought to verify that the Alta was waterproof ... thus, I had to take it off every morning when we went swimming. And I have since learned that it doesn't track exercise on a stationary bike or elliptical (my phone will do both if it is in my pocket). I wasn't surprised, but hey, a guy can hope. And maybe if I put the Alta in my pocket it will do the same ... The device is pretty comfortable to wear. I do occasionally catch it on stuff, but I assume that will reduce with time as I become more used to having it on. I've had no problems with the clasp, either fastening or having it come off unexpectedly. Step counting seems to be pretty accurate, and the reminders to get up an move every hour are pretty good since I sit at a desk all day. The sleep tracking is not perfect, but it is interesting and I expect it to help me zero in on the right amount of sleep for me in a more quantitative method. I'm still experimenting with other features on the unit and in the app. In in the end, this seems to be a good tracker, and most of my disappointment with it are due to my ignorance of which features I really wanted, so I'll use it for a while before deciding whether to get something different.
