Good Product - Bad Charger Design

Purchased two Alta models. So far we love them with one exception. First the good. The band is small and comfortable and really liked that the Fitbit is compatible with so many smartphone apps that I already had. I also like how it reminds you to move every so often and you can quickly check your progress. It's really is a good simple device if you don't want a full blown smart watch. The biggest flaw and something people should be aware of is the charger design. It has a major flaw. There is a "pinch clip" that keeps the Fitbit on the charging prongs during charging the device. It is SUPER flimsy. Be very careful. You pinch the clamps even with more than a gentle amount of pressure and you will snap one of the clips off. It's a very bad design. I already had to order a replacement for one of the Fitbits. If you search forums you will find them full of people with the same issue. To Fitbit's credit they shipped a a replacement with no hassle. However, they seriously need to fix the design. One other minor complaint is that unless you happen to look at the notifications from your phone within seconds you are out of luck. No way to go back to see the last notification. I wouldn't expect this to store a ton of information like a smart watch but at least the last would be nice. Just a minor thing. Overall if you can be careful with the Fitbit charger I highly recommend the product. However, with such a major flaw I took a star off. If they redesign the charger clip I would easily give it 4 stars.

Most comfortable fitbit thats been made yet. Only thing it doesn't have is the HR monitor but the product itself is nice.

I bought this as a replacement for my flex. I had difficultly setting it up with any device. After a few days of fighting i finally was able to get it to sync with my computer. It still likes to disconnect from time to time. Rebooting the phone usually helps. After it was set up it is a very useful tracker. I love that you have a small display that you can track progress without a phone.

My son is taking a gym class over the summer and has to show his exercise. So I bought this to help him keep track. After buying this and the Alta HR for me, I am disappointed in the report summary. It doesn't give enough detail for the daily workouts in the summary. Otherwise it does exactly what is suppose to do. My son is using it primarily as a watch at the moment.

FitBit Alta is 5 Stars, Teal Band is not!

    Posted .

The first day I got my FitBit Alta in Teal I was so excited- it was bright and vivid. After the first day the edges became permanently dirty, all because I wore a jacket?! I disappointed looked it up, and this is a known problem with FitBits in light/bright colors...After one week of wear, the backside of the band looks so dingy, and the edges are dark... I followed the recommended cleaning steps every day since day one, with no change. I plan on exchanging it later today for a black or plum colored one. Not to mention the charging clip broke the second time I used it!! I'm very upset that this problem wasn't fixed with the FitBit Alta so I could enjoy my teal band.
