Customers are saying

Customers recognize the Alta Activity Tracker (Small) for its ease of use, small size, and effective step tracking capabilities. Many appreciate the sleek design, long battery life, and sleep tracking features, while also noting the accuracy of its data. However, some users found the band and clasp difficult to use, and the lack of a heart rate monitor was also a common point of feedback. Additionally, the display's readability in sunlight was mentioned as an area for improvement.

Battery and Bluetooth Issues - Beware

Unfortunately, there must have a bad batch of the Fitbit Alta. Lots of battery issues. After wrangling with Fitbit support, they *finally* sent me a replacement which won't complete the set up process due to a "FBBluetoothErrorDomain error 11." I reported this issue to Fitbit support, but they keep sending me a very cheerful, unhelpful, canned response. We appear to be in an infinite loop: "My Alta doesn't work." "We're so sorry for your problem!! Try X." "Tried X, device isn't working." "We're so sorry for your problem!! Try X" "Tried X, device isn't working." LOTS of people in their Community Forums have been reporting this same issue since September 2016 and are similarly frustrated.

    Does not last!

I bought one and the band fell apart in about a year. It separated from the main unit. I did get a replacement which also fell apart in the same amount of time. This is a terrible product.

    Not a fan...

The double tap feature worked about 5% of the time and the strap was a pain to line up to snap. Previously had a Charge and much preferred that. Ended up returning the Alta.

Its too bad. I was hoping Fitbit had fixed its battery issues, Nope. This is actually worse. If you buy this, expect to deal with Fitbit Support. A little advice, the Fitbit Support chat is useless, just call them. Here the number: (877) 623-4997. Here's the direct link to their support site, you will need it: http://help.fitbit.com/?cu=1 I had two Fitbit Flex which didn't last a year. About 10 months before I got a replacement. Then the replacement died. Now the Alta is dead... less than 6 months. Time for another replacement...

I bought the alta last night... tried for over two hours to get it to connect via bluetooth. Geek squad couldn't even get it to connect I have a samsung s6 for reference with updated Marshmallow. I am returning today. I have read many other people are having this issue. Also the band is difficult to get on your wrist due to the clasp.

    Do not buy

I recently purchased my first Fitbit device, the Fitbit Alta. Took it out the packaging, and plugged in right away. Paired with my phone and every seemed fine. Once the battery was fully charged, I unplugged it and the screen wouldn't turn on. I tapped and restarted and basically tried everything for it to work. Nothing worked. Then I noticed it wouldn't even sync with my S7 Edge. Turns out my device isn't even compatible, and my first fitbit device was a dud. Never buying a Fitbit product again. Staying with Misfit.

    Poor Design waist band

I had trouble from the beginning with the waistband. It did not stay secured. A number of times it felled from my wrist and not during extraneous activities. I complained, but was told that the wristband was secured to wear. Well, finally yesterday, during a grocery shopping trip, I lost my Alta and I could not find it. I have to buy another Alta again because I had already bought the metal wristband and an extra charger for the Alta. I just did not have time to change the wristband on time.

    Not better that older generations

The device firmware update keeps on failing even after trying number of times. The device does not respond to the taps on the screen. Definitely this device is not fulfilling the expectations of customer. Fitbit is lacking its main focus i.e. fitness tracking and concentrating on cosmetic updates. Definitely not not

I have had nothing but problems with this tracker since I purchased it. It worked fine for about 1 week then i couldn't get it to sync with the app. Now they are going to try and replace it. No option for a refund, just replacement.

I got this last night and have had nothing but issues with the touch screen (or tap screen). Sometimes it takes like 10 times to wake it up. Ridiculous, definitely returning it.

Just received this for a mother's day gift. My daughter got it all configured and charged but I was unable to put it on. Looks better in the box. Will be taking this back for sure.
