    I bought this as a gift, and have already swapped it out once for another unit. As online reviews state, the Fitbit has overall issues with step tracking. You have to remember that this device sits on your wrist and detects motion and decides if it was a step or not. If you don't have to move your arms around a lot, while doing things such as dealing with kids, then it would probably be better.
