Not at all accurate on step counting

Years back I bought a first gen Fitbit and returned it because it was not accurate. Later I got a Moto360 and it was fairly accurate but eventually battery issues led to its demise. I picked up a Fitbit Charge 3 to try it out, what I found regarding steps is, it is not accurate but rather adds about 30-40% more steps than other phone apps etc. I compared it to the "Pedometer" app from google playstore...the app lets me adjust the sensitivity and I can get the footsteps fairly accurate. I walk 100 steps, turn around and walk back, the phone app reported 210-214 steps, the fitbit reported 267 - 282 steps. Driving 1.5 hours along interstate the fitbit recorded close to 5500 steps. Fitbit says in this case you can either manually remove the steps or when driving they suggest taking it off. I test software for a living, this would not pass where I work. I ended up ordering a cheap Mi Band 2 for 25$, it's ugly but it is accurate within 1-2% of my phone app. I won't buy anything from Fitbit again.

    Finicky

Got my charge 3 3 weeks ago. looked good and was comfortable, but, my biggest complaint is trying to use exercise tracking. I have found it nearly impossible to shut off tracking. Supposedly pushing the side button twice takes you to the finish screen, but it rarely seems to work. And why do I have to take three different actions to stop it tracking. Too complicated. My Charge 2 was much easier. Returning this one and going back.

Have had sync issues since day one! Returned my first one because I thought it was the device itself but same thing happened to the 2nd one! I have been Fitbit user for long time and had high hopes for this. It is, theoretically, a great product if it works like it's supposed to. Look up sync issues for charge 3 and you will see I'm not the only one. May look at Garmin vivosmart instead.

Check the long term reviews. Many devices have screens that fail after the first year. After the initial one year warranty, fitbit will only offer a 25% discount on a new device.

Purchased my Fitbit Charge 3 on 11/12/18. It seemed to work OK but had some problems with sync. Sometimes it would not sync, it had to be forced by plugging it in or using the sync on the phone. Several days ago Fitbit changed to a very user unfriendly format, extremely bulky and cumbersome to navigate compared to the original, resulting in hundreds of complaints. I no longer attempt to enter my food or water. I can't recommend this product and will be looking for a different tracker manufacturer if this problem is not corrected by having the option of the old format,

The device worked well for about a year. Of course after the warranty expired the device malfunctioned. The device started vibrating continuously then the screen started blinking. The device stopped working shortly afterwards.

Better than Fitbit Charge 2. Silence alerts are better than 2.

    Don’t buy!!

Incredibly inaccurate in tracking steps and miles!! Bought fit bit for wife to replace a 2 year old Garmin where the band busted. Starting to think that if you want an accurate activity tracker, your best bet is to pay up for the Apple Watch, which I have and think is great. Likely going to return to a Garmin for my wife. Too bad Fitbit clearly rushed this product to market!!

    Poor Manufacturing and Support

The latch on the charge 3 constantly comes off for no reason. The screen cracked for no reason. I contacted support but they refused to help me. There are threads of people saying the same things. Don't spend your money. If fitbit won't support their devices then neither should you.

    Junk and Terrible Customer Service

    Posted .

Before you buy a Fitbit of any kind go to their Facebook page and you will find thousands of complaints. Also google "Better Business Bureau Fitbit" and you will find they will not accredit them and have nearly 1000 complaints and barely half have been resolved. I've had two Charge 3s. The first lasted 10 months and the replacement they sent me lasted 6 months. Their customer service is horrible. These trackers are defective and don't last. Please read the reviews before you buy and its not just the Charge 3. There are complaints about all different ones. They won't replace the second one they sent me because they say it goes on the original warranty of the first one so they offered me a discount on an upgrade but I had to buy another Charge 3 or Versa and only certain colors. The also won't let me use the discount on the new Charge 4. Now why would I want another Charge 3 when I've had two defective ones. Do yourself a favor and get an Apple watch. You will spend that much buying Fitbits in less than two years and at least they work and Apple stands by their products and has great customer service.

How do I get at the Fitbit-advertised O2 / SPo2 / Oxygen sensor in the software? I've only got 14 days to return it.

How is this thing getting so many 5 stars rating?

Just bought this a few days ago. 790 steps while I was sleeping. 10 flights of stairs while I was driving, Hundreds of steps while I was sitting at a computer. I like the simplicity, size, and battery life. But for $120, it should do more than just track heart rates.

Software updates killed battery, wouldn't restart

    Posted .

A few months into owning this, I updated the software when I saw the notification in the app to do so. Suddenly, my battery life went from about 8 days to five and quickly reduced to less than two. The support staff do their best to help, and one suggestion was to change the clock face. I'm not sure why a clock face would kill the battery. It wasn't long before my Charge 3 died in just over 24 hours, and it would not recharge. They sent me a new one, because it was warrantied for a year. However, when searching their online forum, I saw many stories similar to mine.

    Constant syncing issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I love my Fitbit for the encouragement it gives me to keep moving, but the technology is not there yet. I want my Fitbit to sync with my phone and it just can't so that regularly. I can spend hours trying to convince it to sync. This is a major selling point for Fitbit and unfortunately it just doesn't work.
