I purchased my Fitbit charge 5 April 12,2024 it is now July 6,2024 I’m waiting on my 2nd replacement. The screen keeps blacking out. It works well when it works. I wouldn’t recommend this model

    Poorly made

These watches are made as throwaway items. Neither my charge 4 nor my 5 made it a full year before Fitbit had to replace them. And when they do, they send out a refurbished one. The bands deteriorate quickly. App syncing is inconsistent. Sometimes it syncs quickly, other times it won’t after multiple tries and reboots. Don’t plan on these things lasting more than 1-2 years.

I love Fitbit. However, this one is on the way back to the manufacturer already and I haven’t even had it a month.

WONT LAST MORE THAN A YEAR AND REPLACEMENTS WONT L

After buying several fitbit devices that never lasted more than a year and most recently receiving 3 replacement devices that only lasted a few months, Fitbit is now telling me that they can only offer a 50% discount on a new device. I have been a customer for over a decade, purchasing several devices and accessories. I will never purchase a fitbit device or product ever again and i will be letting as many people know about my experience as i can.

    Good advertisement for Apple Watch

Works for counting steps. Lack of iphone integration is sad indeed. Screen is much smaller than the glass would have you believe. Available watch faces are ugly, and lack of customization means you can't get the info you want. Borrowed an Apple watch and it gives much better health tracking data with customizable screens to see what you actually care about.

    Does Not Hold a Charge

I got this watch 3 days ago, upgrading from a Charge 4. My Charge 4 would easily go a week on a single battery charge, but since I got a Charge 5, I have had to charge it every day. I went to bed last night with it at 61% battery and woke up to a dead watch 8 hours later and no sleep data for the night. Not good for when I go back to work and won't have constant access to a charger. I love all the features (especially the Find my Phone feature), but what good are features if I can't use them? Not impressed. I should also mention that I've been using the default settings (i.e. have not adjusted the display settings in a way that would increase battery usage).

Sleep tracker stops tracking... among other things

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

If you track your sleep, you won't be happy with this device. It started out working fine, but somewhere along the line, it stopped tracking accurately. Some nights don't get logged at all. Read the comments on the Fitbit Community and you will find Fitbit has you go through all sorts of steps to "fix" the problem and all that does is make your device worse (the green flickering light on the back that senses things stops flickering, so no sense of things) and it doesn't fix the sleep tracking problem. It has been since inception and no fix... don't expect one anytime soon. So sorry I bought this. I think I'll look at Garmin.

Charge 5 has a GPS/Battery issue. Postpone buy

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have had this watch for about 2 weeks now and it is, for the moment, a hopeless piece of junk. The battery depletes in less than 12 hours. There are endless complaints on Fitbit Community about the poor battery performance. HOWEVER, tech support said that there is an issue with ALL Charge 5s having to do with the GPS staying on permanently thus draining the battery quickly. They are working on a firmware update which will automatically update each watch. Plus side? The watch face clarity and features are terrific - but with a dumpy battery life - pointless. Disappointed...but a fix is in process according to Fitbit. Recommend defering purchase until fix is confirmed. When that happens the watch will be a solid *****

    Glitchy with no solution

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This device ended up being pretty useless to me and I'm really disappointed that I missed the return window by a few days. The alarm is so finicky and does not go off some mornings. Fitbit has no solution - I talked to support and they said that they are aware of this issue and are working on it to be released in the next software update. However, this can't be true, because my Charge 3 also did this, and there are people complaining about this issue for multiple devices in the Fitbit support thread from 2019! So, if you rely on this to wake you up in the morning, definitely don't purchase this. I also was disappointed in the responsiveness of the screen, and found it troublesome to get to the apps I wanted. It glitched often. I really wish I could return this. :-(

The Only Thing Worse Is Their Warranty!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I received a Fitbit Charge 5 as a gift in December 2021. By September 2022 the device stopped working, the screen went dark. A replacement was sent under warranty. It arrived in a small plastic bag - not the orginal packaging - leading me to believe it was refurbished. In 5 months, by February 2023 I had the same issue. The device went dark and would not turn on. I called Fitbit to request a replacement or repair and was told it was not under warranty. If you want a device that won't last 1 year and a company that won't stand behind its product, boy do I have a product for you!

Poor Product Reliability and Customer Service

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have owned two Fitbit Charge 5 watches. They are great when they are working, but neither watch lasted past the one-year warranty. The Fitbit Customer Service is absolutely horrible. After many attempts to resolve the failure of the first watch, they sent me a replacement. In the weeks I dealt with them to resolve the first watch failure, I purchased another at Best Buy. The second watch also failed after only about 8 months of use. Despite sending Fitbit Customer Non-Service a copy of the receipt, they are not fulfilling their warranty obligations. Save your money and buy an Apple Watch.

Keep your old Charge. Poorly thought-out "upgrade"

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I replaced my Charge 2 because the face was cracked but I think I'd rather put up with a cracked screen than this dud. Yes, it tracks my steps and has other functions, but it doesn't work with my cell phone. I used to like getting my texts and calls notifications so I knew if it was worth tending to. Now, no call notification and I might get some of my text notifications but not until a day later. Not helpful. Other enhancements, such as heart rate require an awkward position to pinch the device and you must hold it for three minutes. I think my heart rate accelerates just trying to do that.

Not loving it as I did my Charge 3. It doesn’t give me heart rate as it should and is way more cumbersome to control. Also doesn’t always sync .

    charge 5 better than 4

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Fitbit Charge 5 is much better than the Charge 4. The Charge 4 I had was becoming a problem in that it wouldn't synch. I was reluctant to buy another Fitbit but it has been doing okay. I wish the ads for premium would stop though. I am the premium stuff on the app would go away. I am not going to subscribe at any time so it's annoying and can be the reason to not ever buy Fitbit again.

    THEY BREAK ALL THE TIME!

I purchased a charge 5 and versa for me and my wife on January 10th, 2022. In the 2.5 months I have owned them, we have each had 2 fitbits mysteriously (and without cause) just die, completely stop working. The first we were able to return at best buy, now we are having to deal with warranty - which so far has taken over 3 weeks without even an update on when to expect our replacements. These are undoubtedly the worst built products I have ever used. When they work they are great, but they won't last a month, and dealing with their support and returns is horrible. I will be looking for other trackers to use in the future, I would never give this company money again.

    Non working worthless leather bracelet..

I bought the Charge 5, and preordered it. Have had it a couple of weeks and had to re- pair it to my phone twice in that time. Last night i put it to charge and it has not been able to connect to the phone since.. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with tech support Jafiel.. He told me this is a known issue they just lose their bluetooth and he advised me to "put it in a drawer until they find a fix and go back to using my Charge 4". They will not give me my money back or a replacement, and I bought their insurance.. Totally do NOT GET THIS DEVICE...

    Beware / check connector

Was liking the FitBit but…Apparently known issue that I wish I had known re Charge 4 (I think Charge 5 has same design). Connector to band breaks around 13-14 months (i.e., just past the warranty) making watch unusable.
