    Fitbit Charge 6

The Fitbit Charge 6 is a huge improvement on the older Fitbit I had for a few years. Battery life is decent and Charge 6 offers a very broad range of health tracking features like heart rate and sleep tracking. The screen is clear and bright. My only issue is the tapping does not work as it should at times. Overall, am glad I upgraded to the Charge 6.

My bad. I admit it... See, my current FitBit 4's screen had died and I was in a hurry to get a replacement. Didn't even think to check. Understand, this is my third Fitbit Charge... and I made the (incorrect) assumption that this natural progression in the Charge series (3, 4, [I never got a 5 or you might be reading this same kind of review earlier...]) would be *about* the same as the earlier ones I owned. Maybe some improvements because that's the way this stuff used to work, right? WRONG! I never even considered the possibility that they would take away what I had considered to be the only thing that set it apart from other 'step counter' and heartbeat monitor devices... The ability to track elevation ('floors') and still keep the same "Charge" name. Good job, Google... You got me. <sigh> In a world where companies actually cared about customers, they might give a model with a radical change in functions a different name. Even something as simple as "Charge X Lite" ... well, not that exactly but something along those lines "Charge 6 Budget" "Charge 6 Econ" something to alert people that these new and (not) improved) Charge-s, while seemingly in the same lineage (3, 4, ...) are different. But that would probably hurt sales, right? Who knows, maybe it would have helped sales of a more expensive version with the 'floors' feature. I hope you don't think I'll buy another one with an altimeter/barometer. Not going to happen. In fact, this will be the last Fitbit/Google tracking product that I purchase. New brand in 3 years (or am I dreaming that a Google product could possibly last that long.... After all, planned obsolence is good for Google ... And what's good for Google is good for...well, if not America, then at least our digital overlords, I guess). As for the alleged 'improvements,' the watch GPS is cludgy, an energy hog, and overly complicated. I quickly discovered it is best to default to using the phone GPS... The EDA scan is a truly useless gimmick, there, I suspect, solely as ploy to try to upsell you to premium 'breathing exercises' content (Spoiler alert... Don't do it... they suck... Want breathing exercises? get a dedicated meditation app!). I would gladly sacrifice the gimmick eda-scan-upsell silliness for an altimeter, however (below) average it may perform. On the plus side, the screen is bright and readable in any light. After years of learning to give up on trying to see anything on the Charge 4 screen, I have to remind myself that this screen is actually acceptable. And the "Find Phone" function is useful. Every week seems to be a new problem... As reported elsewhere, the app would sometimes crash when attempting to view (post-workout) the map of a walk tracked on the app ... On more than one morning, I have encountered grossly inaccurate (too high) heart rate. I wear a second tracker for accurate altitude (suunto) on my right wrist. So when fitbit reported a heart rate at double the actual rate, I knew the Fitbit had problems. Searched on-line and sure enough, a known issue. I had to reboot multiple times to get it right. (and the reboot via charging cable is stunningly user-unfriendly... Do you people even know how the average person charges things... You place the button in an almost impossible to reach position unless it is alone in a USB port/jack. Really dumb). The Out of Control Heart Rate Issue started when I was (foolishly) trying to use the EDA scan (my bad... Seriously, we should be given the option to disable the Useless EDA Scan). Suspect the heart rate reading fail is related to stunningly cheap/inadequate hardware design and production issues. And finally, after all these years, you'd think somebody there could fix the app so that it stops announcing the average and split pace as the same for each 'lap' (Average Pace AND Split Pace are generally NOT the same thing!... Sheeesh).

It’s really a great tool for phases of your life when you are actively working out and phases when you just need a reminder to get enough sleep and hydration. I can’t wear it all the time because it does irritate my skin after a while

Purchased it for my 72-year old mom and she absolutely loves it. She has a heart condition, so she loves that she can track her heart rate, oxygen levels, etc. Plus, it encourages her to exercise. She loves the motivation alerts when she hits new walking milestones!
