Hi, SharenJ. We're sorry to hear that your Fitbit Charge 6 is not tracking your steps properly. Fitbit devices use a 3-axis accelerometer to count your steps. This sensor also allows your device to determine the frequency, duration, intensity, and patterns of your movement. Also, factors such as device placement, dominant or non-dominant hand, and stride length affect the number of steps recorded. If you're pushing a stroller or shopping cart, try putting your wrist-based device in your pocket or use GPS if possible. I purchased my Charge 6 mainly for tracking steps and sleep. Sleep data for the last 2 months has been wildly inaccurate and inconsistent. Fitbit support just keeps putting me off.

Hi there, Kthomas. We hear your concerns regarding not getting the most accurate readings from the Charge 6. Here are a few things to confirm to get the best results:

      For step tracking:
Confirm your height and wrist settings are correct in the Fitbit app to get the best results. Since it uses height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average.

      For sleep tracking:
      1. Check if your sleep setting is set to Sensitive. If it is, change it to Normal.
      2. For accurate sleep tracking, position your device 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone, ensuring a secure but comfortable fit.
      3. To adjust a sleep session’s start or end time, edit it in the Fitbit app.

Great watch when it stays with you

The Fitbit Charge 6 My Wife’s Charge 5 broke after a rather severe impact. Nothing I could do about that. So I ordered her a Charge 6. The watch itself works great, and the sleep monitoring system is quite good. It has a major drawback. If you misplace it, you are going to have to download a Bluetooth detection app that will get you within about 10 feet. The watch doesn’t make noise to tell you where it is. Most would say that you aren’t supposed to lose your watch anyway. Unfortunately, the Fitbit 6 has a serious problem with the watchband letting go of the watch. At first, I thought it must just be this watch, but a quick internet search showed many pages of people with the exact same complaint. The watch is great, but good luck keeping it on your arm. When I attached the band, I discovered that with minor movement, it would fall off. So, I ordered a new band from Amazon and installed it. It worked for about three days, then had the same problem as the first.

Hi, Jabra7pro. We appreciate your feedback. Fitbit Charge 6 is a wrist-based motion sensor, it may add extra steps whenever your arms are moving, even though your body isn't. To get better step tracking, please ensure your wrist placement setting is aligned with how you wear your tracker. We suggest fixing your hand settings to "Dominant" to decrease its step counting sensitivity. For more info and tips on how to best improve your tracker's accuracy, please check out: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1136.htm

Hi there, VeronicaM. Sorry to hear you're having problems with battery levels on your Charge 6. The device should last about 7 days on a single charge — here’s some tips to reduce battery consumption:

      1. Turn off always-on display.
      2. Use phone GPS instead of built-in GPS.
      3. Dim the screen or enable auto brightness.

Turns out that this cannot be used for a kid under 13 as they're banned for privacy reasons, which is an awful thing to find out on Christmas. So now I have to trudge the thing back to the store and get maybe a Fitbit ACE for kids or something, but naturally they're not on sale anymore or anything. I'm rather miffed.

This is my fifth purchase of a Fitbit product. Likely my last. First I had to abandon (forced) my active Fitbit account and sign up with a gmail account that I never use and now don’t get my emails and notifications unless I check the mandatory gmail account. Not convenient. The durability of the device has not been as strong as previous models. Chaulk me up as a disappointed loyal user who does not support the manufacturer dictates and mandates to their products and platforms. Not a good customer experience.
