    I hate Fitbit!

I purchased a new Fitbit flex in March. After wearing it 4 weeks, I lost it due to very poor clasp. I contacted Fitbit, they would offer no support. Since I am under doctors orders to track my steps I made the decision to purchase the Fitbit charge HR. The strap at least does not come undone. After a week of trying to get the Fitbit synced with my phone and I-pad and many hours with the help desk, they said the Fitbit I purchased at Best Buy was not compatible with my software on my phone.

Love the Concept but the HR is lacking for fitness

For those of you who asked me to let you know my workout results with my new fitbit Charge HR, here they are! First off let me say that I absolutely love the fitbit charge hr. I love that it tracks your sleep accurately, calories, steps, etc. I think it is a great tool to help aid a person in getting or staying healthy because it shows you exactly what you are doing to and putting in your body. Now for the bad part: I was extremely disappointed during my workout today. I wore both my Polar Watch and my fitbit. I did cardio on the open stride machine and then did HIIT/Tabatta with kettlebells and ropes. During the cardio it took the fitbit almost 7 minutes into the workout to catch up to the polar watch. The Polar was reading at 170 and the fitbit was still at 124bpm. Not good. Once it finally did catch up, it actually continued to stay almost the same as the Polar watch. Once I started doing the Tabatta/HIIT workout, the fitbit didn’t really work at all. It never reached the HR that the Polar did the entire time. The Polar was up to 175 and the fitbit was still at 120 or less. My total workout time was 60 minutes and the total calories on the fitbit was 531 compared to 680 and my Polar. So, obviously I’m going to have to look like a dork and wear two watches to work out with. Once I got home I updated the fitbit dashboard with the extra 179 calories that the fitbit was missing, but I had to add an extra activity. I really, really wish I could wear just one watch for everything and this unfortunately doesn't cut it.

I agree with all the great reviews as this is just an awesome, useful and actually fun product. I also agree the battery could last longer, the band should come in a medium size and the screen could be a bit bigger....but what doesn't have its downsides!? The Charge HR is worth the money and time to learn how to best use it for your needs. For me, I use it to check the time constantly (2 taps and it shows up clearly on the screen), to time my workouts, to check my step progress during the day and to check my heart rate....I have also had it long enough for the "honeymoon" period to end and I still love it as much (or more!) than ever. If you are genuinely wanting to live healthier, move more and be more accountable about it all, this is a great "assistant" to have on your team!

After one year my Jawbone Up kicked the dust, so I was band-less for over a month. After my awful Jawbone experience, I decided to switch over to the Fitbit, since it seems to have a much longer life span. Having decided on the Fitbit Charge HR, I couldn't wait for the it to be released, so as soon as I saw it was available at Bestbuy.com, I went ahead and ordered it. I got it New Years Eve and have been tracking my steps since. It's really motivated me to reach my 10,000 step goal. It counts steps accurately--much more so than the Jawbone Up. As I take a step, I can see my step count increase. Awesome! The heart rate monitor is also very accurate--the results match my Garmin (with the chest strap). They're so accurate, that I've stopped using the Garmin and only use the Fitbit now when I run. It's nice to be able to see how my heart rate changes throughout the day--while I'm resting, during exercise, and especially after I've exercised. I can really see the effect that a good work out has on my heart rate for the rest of the day. The steps climbed is also accurate. People who complained should read the following article: http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/How-does-my-tracker-count-floors. The sleep tracking is ok. It's not as good as the Jawbone Up's, but still informative. The silent alarm wakes you right when you set it. It doesn't have the Jawbone Up's ability to wake you during light sleep vs deep sleep, which was a nice feature. The caller ID on the band is also super useful--especially when my phone is on silent, so I don't realize it's ringing until my band buzzes and displays the caller ID. This is one feature that I hadn't thought I'd get much use out of, but so far is awesome! The app is also super cool! It's so easy to view your progress, add friends, and create challenges. The challenge are the best! I'm super competitive, so they really motivate me to move. If you're looking to improve your fitness level or just want to track how you're doing, the Fitbit Charge HR is for you!!!

Overall Great - But Size Small is very Misleading

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We purchased a small for me and large for my fiance. The Large fits him perfectly, but this small is more for a child unless you have such small/skinny wrists like that of child this is difficult to wear. I have always bought a small bracelet/watches etc. all my life. So I figured this small would work for me. Not so. I had to have it in the second to the last notch with one notch left to put the tab band into it. Basically you can't wear this on that notch and secure it so then the tab band always comes off and the band itself will stick out. So after long debate back and forth whether I should keep or take back, I took it back today. I cannot wear this comfortably any tighter and also wear where they suggest while exercising in the 3rd notch from the end of the band. So if you're debating make sure you have a tiny wrist to accommodate the band size. It says the band is 6.5" inches but my wrist is 6 1/4 inches and it did not work. I am now opting for a size Large - not the ideal solution as that has way too much band for my wrist but what else can you do when FitBit doesn't make a medium size? I've already notified them of the issue. By the talk on their website - so have many others. Soooo..after that one bad thing for me - I'd say this is definitely a go to for an accurate sleep, HR, step recording fit band. We had a FitBit Flex and changed over to this one. I thought it would look too big on my wrist but got used to it (again will have to see how I like the bulk of the extra band - but possibly can modify it after a while to fit appropriately. It doubles as a watch which I like because I no longer have to have to wear a watch. It also has a stop watch and you can record various exercises. We've looked at a lot of them and even with some issues that FitBit seems to have it still is one of the best out there. We were thinking of a Gear Fit but it only works with Samsung phones, and even though that is what we have didn't want to be locked into that forever. The charging is a little cumbersome being that it takes the entire band to charge. No little battery like on the Flex. We bought a multiple charger now to handle just our FitBits and phones. Over all this is an excellent product for someone wanting to do everything that is possible on this FitBit. Only thing I caution you on is sizing for small - maybe they'll come out with a a medium soon - I sure hope so because it would be beneficial - either that or extend the small's band so it can be worn comfortably by small wrists.

Good fitness tracker with a few quirks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I won't go over the details of the functionality as many other reviewers has already covered it. But I will go over a few things/quirks I've noticed about the Charge HR after using it for 5 days. 1. Step count is overly sensitive. I went to bed and woke up, and already logged 200 steps! This happened every night. I'm sure I toss and turn when sleeping, but shouldn't it detect that I'm sleeping and not log any steps? Also, throughout the day, the step count is way higher than it should be. I am comparing it to the iPhone, and the Fitbit Surge I got 2 days ago. The Surge is much more accurate (closer to my iPhone Health app step count). Oh, and the Surge only logged 30 steps in my sleep. 2. HR monitor during intensive workouts is not accurate. This has been brought up by other reviewers. I go to bootcamp classes 4x a week, and workouts consist of movements like burpees, jumping jacks, air squats, pull ups, along with various weight exercises. At times I would check my HR in the middle of my workout and see a -- instead of an actual #. This causes my workout summary to be less accurate than it should. Even when I'm dead tired and feel maxed out, my HR was only at 150. I have yet to reach a HR in the Peak Zone (155 or above for my age range) So the HR accuracy during intense workouts is a little suspect. 3. I wish there was an option to always leave the display on. This would be esp useful during workouts. But you have to press the button to get your reading, and it always starts with the duration of the workout, so I have to press the button twice to get my HR. I want to monitor the HR during my workout by just looking at my wrist wout the need to press the button. 4. The double tap feature to see the display is very finicky. It works when it wants to. I'm still giving it 4 stars. Overall, it works well. I'm hopeful that a software update will fix the few quirks. I do like the other features it has, and I love tracking my workout intensity, even if it's 100% accurate. I'm still on the trail period of both the Charge HR and Surge. I do like the Surge more right now, but it's so bulky. The Charge HR fits better on my super skinny wrists.

I bought this as a gift for an overseas friend without first insuring that charging cable was included in the sealed box. Best buy customer service indicated that they would make things right by allowing me to return item to store after the 30 day return policy. I'll be flying to south America to pick up the incomplete fitbit in a couple of weeks and then returning to the store in early June to return it. Stay tuned..!

    Still needs work on software

This product did everything it said it claimed to do, but it had some glitches. It was a great fitness tracker and recorded data very well witch has always been one of Fitbit's strong categories. The caller ID feature had some glitches since it did not work every time I got a call but never caused me to miss one. The heart rate was accurate but had some lag to it. The syncing was also very difficult because it only liked to sync on its own and not when you tell it to. I feel this product has just been released and could still have some software issues that could be fixed. I returned mine to upgrade to the Fitbit Surge for only $100 more dollars to take advantage of some of the extra features. I would defiantly recommend this product to someone who is new to the fitness band market since it has very accurate features but doesn't focus on one excursive.

I used the FitBit Flex for over a year before deciding to upgrade. Black Friday came around with an awesome sale, so I chose to go with the Charge HR. I'm very happy with it! The wristband has a belt-like watch band which I like much more than the snap closure on the Flex and the basic Charge model. The heart rate monitor helps with calorie counting as it's a bit more accurate as to how active you are. The vibrating alarms are also really useful beyond just waking up in the morning, to use throughout the day as reminders. And of course, like all fitbit products, the app is amazing - challenging friends is a great motivational tool with the app playing cheerleader for everyone throughout the day! I'm very happy with this model; only downside is the battery life only seems to last about 4 days.

I really liked this item but soon I found it was not what I was looking for. I think the team member was just interested in getting the sale. So this left me unhappy! I had to purchase and return 3 fitbits until I was satisfied with the altia. I explained everything I was looking for and I don't think he was listening.
