I bought this for my wife as a gift. Her friend has one so her friend actually clued me in to tell me she had been wanting one and they could actually sync to each other and get updates of how much activity each other have throughout the day and it is sort of a mutual competition to have more steps than the other. My wife is very happy with the performance and also happy that it tells time to boot. 5 stars

It does not register all of my steps. Must just be me because it does register all of my husbands if he wears it.

The fitness tracker is average at best and is somewhat pricey for what it does.

I picked up the Charge HR from my local Best Buy on New Year's Day after ordering it online. I needed a device that offered wireless sync with my Samsung S4 and that allowed me to put it into an "exercise mode" and check stats for my run while I'm running--not just after the fact. Previous models of the Fitbit didn't have these capabilities, and "running watches" with similar features either didn't have the wireless sync capabilities (or their capbailities/accompanying apps weren't as developed or advanced as Fitbit's) or were much more expensive. Some runners prefer GPS watches because of their high accuracy and ability to give information like pace, split, etc. I'm not that fancy. I just needed time and distance. I opted to wait for the highly anticipated "HR" model because it cost only $20 extra for heart rate monitoring. Overall, I've been pleased with the Charge HR and would recommend it to anyone whose fitness needs are similar to my own. The Band:  I ordered the "small" band. Fitbit recommends wearing the band anywhere from one finger width to a couple of finger widths above your wrist bone, depending on what you're doing. Fitbit advertises that the small size technically supports a wrist as small as 5.5". Mine is about 5.25 at that spot, so I fall a little short, but that's OK, because the band sizing seems to run very small. For day-to-day use, I wear mine on the 4th "hole" for a tight fit or the 5th hole for a looser fit, and it has 8 holes (like a typical leather band watch). Let me emphasize something:  My wrist is *tiny.* If I buy a watch, I usually have to remove at least four or five links. If it's a leather watch, I am usually either on the smallest hole or I have to punch a hole in it. I say all this to say that you may need to size up to a large even if you have a "normal" sized wrist. Don't feel bad about it. It's them, not you. Maybe they imagine small children using this? I don't know. I can technically move it to a smaller size, but then it's uncomfortable. The hard plastic portion of the watch is technically wider than my wrist (in "normal" watch terms, it's as if the lugs are wider than my wrist), so it does look a little comical on my wrist and makes it a little too obvious, so sometimes I will take it off for evenings out, etc. just because it's conspicuous.  Once you get used to it and put it on the right size for you (it took me a day or so to figure out what I liked best), it's pretty comfortable. Because of how it fits on my wrist, it's difficult to wear it with long sleeves/jackets, because of its bulk in comparison to my wrist, but I've had no problems with skin irritation/rashes/etc except for a mark on my skin from wearing it too tight the first few hours. I do move it up and down periodically through the day for different activities, because it can get in the way. I'm still trying to master the art of sleeping with it, because it gets in my way. I almost took it off the first night. My suggestions would be for Fitbit to work on making it more compatible with smaller wrists and to make it possible to change just the band out (for instances when the rubber portion breaks but the tracker itself still works). I know these changes may not be possible with the technology, however.  Setup:  Setup was simple. Took about 15 minutes. The device does not come with instructions other than to go to a website, which basically links you to the app for whatever phone you're using--I imagine if you access it from a computer, it would have you download the sync software. I had no problems pairing with my Android device via Bluetooth. I charged the Fitbit for about an hour and it was at full charge.  The app allows you to customize which stats you can check on your device, in which order they appear (nice!), your silent alarms, the format of the time display and a few other odds and ends. Even if you choose not to see a piece of info on your watch itself, you can still view the information from the Fitbit app. Use: As far as running distance goes, I'm not expecting 100%, GPS-style accuracy. As a test, I ran with the Fitbit and my previous workout buddy, the iPod nano (which also uses an accelerometer for distance/pace), and found the Fitbit to be a suitable replacement in this regard. The two devices were nearly identical on a test run--the iPod said I had run 1.72 mi. and the Fitbit said 1.69 mi. Like I said earlier, this is good enough for me. The difference in the two devices could even be due to human error--I could have started the iPod and then started running a few feet before starting the Fitbit. I live on the second floor of an apartment complex, and I've noticed it is accurate in counting flights of stairs as well. It does inaccurately count certain activities I do at my work as steps counted. This isn't a major deal for me, because I'm not too concerned with steps accuracy, but if you are, you may want to take it off during long periods of working at a desk. One wish I have is that pace could be added as a stat that's provided on the device when it's in "exercise" mode. That's one thing I do miss from using my iPod I know I can calculate it with distance and time, but when I'm running, I'm not in the mood for mental math. Ha. I have no way of gauging the heart rate monitor against other devices, because this is the first one I've ever had. All I can say is that it definitely increases the rate when I'm moving more. This wasn't a primary need of mine, so I haven't done any work to research how accurate it is. This model is improved from previous models in that it automatically enters sleep mode, so no more missing out on sleep stats if you forget to put it in sleep mode. One criticism--The LED lights on the underside of the tracker were distracting to me at night. I have grown used to it, but I'm a light sleeper, and I almost had to take it off the first night. This probably won't bother most people, but I wish there was an option to turn off the LED lights or something.  Overall, this is an affordable fitness tracker that I've enjoyed using for its simplicity and the information it gives me at the right price point. Pros: Wireless sync to established Fitbit ecosystem--if your friends have any type of fitness tracker, it's probably a Fitbit. Syncs with other fitness apps (like MyFitnessPal) Price is definitely competitive for features Improvements I'd like to see: Pace added as a stat I can view on the device Smaller overall size Interchangeable band (like the Fitbit Flex) An option to turn off LED lights for sleep

I like that I can do challenges with my friends. I really don't want to wear it to bed & would prefer to clip it on than use wristband. It only holds a charge for about 2 days & when I contacted fit bit they told me to turn off half of its features. It was a present & I am just not that impressed by it.
