A Perfect Fit for the Health Enthusiast

I received this as a Christmas Gift and thought that it would be a complete waste of time. Boy was I wrong! This little device has become one of my favorite gadgets in my collections. I rarely leave the house without it. At first I did have a little difficulty with syncing it to my phone but that was due to user error. It does a great job of tracking steps, sleep patterns and even allows me to complete step challenges with friends. Its a great device! Highly recommended.

    Easy and Fun

I bought this about a month ago to track my daily fitness in an effort to be more active. Before purchasing the Fitbit Flex, I also looked at the Nike Fuelband SE and Jawbone Up. I didn't purchase the Fuelband SE because it was more of a hard bracelet and I didn't want to have that on my wrist all day while wearing professional attire. The Jawbone was another that received consideration, but got bad feedback regarding quality and longevity of the bands. The Fitbit is lightweight, syncs via Bluetooth 4.0 with your iPhone or computer via included dongle, and has a simple dashboard that gives you the data you need (steps, calories burned, sleep, water intake, calorie intake). The bands are interchangeable and you can purchase them in other colors. I would recommend this item.

Does not count all steps on treadmill

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Fitbit flex is good at basic tracking of steps walked and distance. Beware that if you walk on a treadmill and hold on to the rail, it will not count steps accurately. Other than that, it's pretty good.

Doesn't have all the bells and whistles but take it out of the package, charge and use. Download the app was easy as well.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she absolutely loves it. The best part about it is the different bands to go with it, as well as the sleep pattern function.

    Way overpriced for quality

I bought this and kept it for 1 day. I didn't like the way it is made and I felt it was made very cheaply. The piece that goes into the band (that gets charged) was so light that I dropped it every time I took it out. It is very lightweight (not in a good way), thin plastic. It feels like a $5 product that would end up breaking in a short amount of time. I also don't like how the band only snaps closed as I feel that I could lose it easily. One good thing about this product is the app. I do like how it syncs automatically. But, I don't like how you have to look at your phone to check the amount of steps you've walked. Also, I'm sure all pedometers are not completely accurate, but with the flex I woke up and went to my kitchen and it said I already walked something like 300 steps! Then as I poured my coffee I was credited with additional steps even though I was standing still. I ended up returning for the Garmin vivofit 2 which does not auto sync, but it does have a screen that you can check without needing your phone. The devise itself is also much more sturdy and seems more durable. Plus it has a locking, rotating clasp so that it won't fall off and it does not need to be charged. Once the battery dies in the garmin, you just replace the cheap batteries whereas with the flex, you will be throwing it away and buying a new one.

So far so good and a very cool device!

I purchased this yesterday at Best Buy and it was the last one since they literally were sold out. This seems to be a very popular item and blows away a lot of the other similar devices out there. It fits on your wrist like a watch and is waterproof and sweat proof. The monitor is a small piece that fits into the band and it syncs with your computer and/or iPhone or iPad to measure daily steps walked, calories burned, food intake, sleep and even water intake. You can also input and log exercise outside normal routine and even mood. The band is comfortable and you can buy colors to match etc. The small piece syncs automatically with your iPhone and computer when near and needs charging every 5 days. It is very simple to set up and start using and works great. The only complaint is the calories burned which I guess is measured by metabolic figures you put in like age and weight and height. It seemed inaccurate and shows me burning like 1200 calories for about 3000 steps walked. If it is right, my metabolism is sure fast. Other than that it is a very cool device and at a good price.

i love my fitbit but after about 9 months wont hold a charge. I did get the protection plan so i will be taking it back after work. I would say do not trust the band to stay on. invest in a bitbelt or something similar to ensure you don't loose it by accident

I bought one for my wife and she loves it. But, their customer service is great. My wife lost her Flex and someone picked it up and start using it. Contacted them about it, sent in the receipt for the Flex and they sent her a replacement. Also, if have an XL wrist (like I do), you can request a XL band for you Flex and they will send you one for free.

Flex is good basic unit but clasp is design flaw

I've owned my Flex since Dec and it's fallen off about 100 times already due to the clasp design flaw (really should have been a buckle). Lost it within 45 days but Fitbits customer service was excellent and immediately sent me a free replacement upon notification. I wear it 24/7 and highly recommend it to everyone I see. I love the apps it auto syncs with. I signed up with Walgreens Step Rewards and from my everyday walking have cashed in two $50 reward certificates for merchandise already. It's free money and paid for the $90 unit for me. It also syncs with my health ins app to give me bonus points towards healthy items and I linked to Earnd It and have gotten running shirts, energy bars, free water and more. I'm not an athlete but feel like I can be with this motivation. Great invention. Buy it.

Feels like a downgrade from the Fitbit One

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was very excited to pick up the Fitbit Flex because of some of the glowing reviews it was getting. I am a previous fitbit one user and I enjoyed it.. The new fitbit flex is not as good as the fitbit one, mainly because it does not track floors climbed. I don't know how this was missed. In addition. touching the flex to get it to do sleep is also terrible when compared to the One. Also, trying to get the bracelet on your end is quite an exercise. It is very difficult to put on. Still interested? Every time I move my hand, it counts it as a step, even if I have set it as my dominant or non-dominant hand. The steps I take in an average day are about 20% higher than what was recorded with the Fitbit one. I am very disappointed in this unit. Unfortunately I bought it at best buy and no longer have the original packaging thinking I'd keep it. I'd stay with the Fitbit one. Better display, easier to read, easier to use, and fits in other places besides your wrist.

My wife and I have been using ours for half a week. I find the objectives highly motivating and achievable. The ability to log your activities and food as well as track your progress against goals is really good. The best feature that I didn't know about when I bought it was the "silent alarms". I have a silent alarm set for every weekday morning to get me up and get moving.
