First of all, I am not an athlete nor do any regularly scheduled exercise. I am interested in my overall health and thought that a device like the Fitbit Flex would allow me to track my general exercise and sleep habits.
The Flex does just that. It's easy to use and the reports I get help me to judge how much exercise I get daily and weekly as well as my quality of sleep. I liked it so much that I got one for my wife and she loves it too. In fact, we go out for more walks now that we have the devices to track how much exercise we get. It's a real motivator for us.

I bought this for my wife as a Christmas present. She loves it, with the exception of 2 things. #1. The band takes a little getting used to on how to snap it with one hand. Struggled at first on taking on and off. #2. After she had it for about 3 days, it stopped tracking her sleep. Had to get online and look at troubleshooting guide. It recommended doing a hard rest, which you can do with a paper clip. We did this, and that seems to have fixed the problem so far. Tracks her steps, calories burned, and sleep habits. All things that she wanted it to do.

Good Fitness Tracker, Could be Even Better

I use Suunto Ambit2 for exercising and tracking HR, distance, etc. while running and so on. This FitBit is nice addition to monitor daily steps etc. for the non-exercising time.
There are other kind of step counters available, but I would say that since this is in your wrist and tracks pretty well it does the job.
Phone app does know quite many chain restaurants and their items from menu. I used that food calories tracking for two - three weeks to get my eating habits into correct track.
Sleep tracker is somewhat ok, but requires some commitment to track it every night.
This item is light enough to be worn all day, and casual and small enough to be worn even with suit on etc. I work in office in semi management position and we have a trend going with few people that we want to track fitness, and so the social aspect of having friends in app puts some good competition.
Only thing what I am missing is a simple display that would show time. It could replace that how the need of having watch, at least for some times.
I haven't used all the features yet, but gradually getting there. So that makes me to say that there is plenty of joy and opportunities with this FitBit.
I would suggest a person considering this to check which fitness tracker your friends may have so you can enjoy of the social features better.

If you are just starting out in your goal to be a more fit person, this is a great cheap little gift.
The app has a lot of good functionality: track your calories and eating habits, time you've been working out, sleep activity, number of steps, and has a neat little community. They even email you a weekly summary of everything.
The device is nice and slim and most of the time I forget that I am wearing it.
The big benefit is seeing those dots increase as you get closer and closer to your goal. The achievement unlocks also help motivate you.

FitBit helped me drop the weight

I've had my FitBit Flex for 10 months. I started with just tracking my steps and sleep patterns but quickly took advantage of the FitBit App (food log & weight tracker) to help me accomplish my fitness & weight-loss goals. I use the app on both Android and Apple devices. Both OS platforms work well but I have to admit the Apple platform is a little bit nicer in terms of logging food. Over time FitBit adjusted my recommended caloric intake based upon my weight-loss goals, activity level, and my body's trend in shedding weight. I've lost over 20 pounds without really needing to do more than be aware of my activity & caloric intake. Knowing "big brother FitBit" is watching was all the help I needed.

The Fitbit Flex, I use it mainly to monitor my sleep during the night and also use it as a silent alarm to wake me up in the morning. It's very reliable and accurate. While at work, I am using the Fitbit Ultra to monitor my number of steps and calories burnt. It's also very reliable and accurate plus I am still using it before I purchase the Fitbit Flex. Both of these devices are part of my life and I can't have my day without having it. Thanks Fitbit, for making this great innovations.

This has been really easy to get used to wearing. Its not that heavy so its almost like a lightweight watch. The nice thing about it is it will sync automatically when you are near your computer or phone. You dont have to worry about manually syncing every day. Battery lasts about a week and it only takes an hour to charge (give or take a few). It does an great job of keeping track of your steps and even notifies you by vibrating when you've reached your goal.

I bought this product because I wanted to do better tracking my exercise. It is great for keeping track of steps and tracking sleep. The device has it's own mobile app and can link up easily with my fitness pal app. It does a great job with tracking my walking and running, but when I do other workouts, such as lifting weights, it doesn't read those well. Overall this is a great product and I am glad I got it, though I think the Charge HR would suit me a little better because I do more than just running for my workouts.

The step counts aren't 100% accurate, but that's not the true purpose of it. It's just to help motivate you from day to day. There are times when I feel guilty when I don't break my daily step count so then it motivates me to go to the gym late at night or hit the gym even harder the next day. The friends/challenges are also a fantastic way to keep even more motivated.
I've already lost over 20 lbs using this as motivation. I'm looking to lose 15-20 more lbs, and then I would be as fit as I was in my college years.

I purchased this as a present for my wife. She loves it and uses it daily. I'm more of a techie though and there are a few things I think could be improved. 1st - Battery life could be better. It typically needs charged (taken out of the bracelet and plugged into the wall) every 4-5 days. This is less than what is advertised. 2nd - Although it monitors sleep, it is not automatic like other models. You must tap it to tell it when you are going to sleep and when you are getting up. 3rd - The step count does not seem to be very accurate, which I'm basing on the experiences of my wife and my coworkers. My wife reached her 10,000 step goal after a 12 hour day of driving. Our car is a pretty smooth ride and there is no way she actually took 10,000 steps so I believe the unit is a little too sensitive. My coworker had the opposite problem when she was running. She would run the same distance each day and noticed a wide variety of step counts depending on where she wore the unit. 4th - The internal transmitter is pretty weak. It often won't sync with the phone or laptop unless it is right up next to them. 5th - I think the unit is quite overpriced for what it is. It appears to be a gyroscopic or acceleration sensor, a battery, a bit of memory, a very weak transmitter, and an app.

I bought this to replace the one I lost, which was the exact same one. I like the flex because it is smaller than the other models on my wrist. The others are more like a large watch on a woman's wrist. This is the basic model, but it gives my steps, calories and sleep patterns. If you get one, you should also purchase some little bands ($6 for 30) to help keep it on your wrist.

Love my Fitbit! I sit in an office all day. I knew I wasn't getting enough exercise but, I didn't want to pick up running just yet either. My Fitbit was the perfect compromise. It tracks my steps keeping me active, and it let's me know when I've hit my goal for the day! My coworkers were so impressed they got one, too! Additional feature I love; the vibrating alarm. It wakes me up, not my husband. Overall it's the perfect tool to train you to move more!

Got this for my son for his 13th birthday since he's much too "old" and cool for toys, and didn't want to get him yet another video game. He is obsessed with this FitBit and wore it on vacation. Tracks his steps, tracks his sleep- is thrilled with it and the fact that it will keep him on his regimen of being healthy. I am constantly reminding him to take it off before showering or swimming though I did read that you can get it wet.

I love this product. I have use mine everyday.
Pros: It motivates me to get off the couch and get moving. It also showed me that most days I was moderately active. It also showed just how lazy I could be. It's simple to use for those that aren't too tech savy. The steps seem to be right on target. Though it won't count bicycling or stairs on this model. I don't even notice that I have it on. I don't care that there is no watch since I wear my watch on the other hand. Great that it has 2 sizes because you can swap with another person that is in a different size. Love that it links with Myfitnesspal. Great customer service. A tad slow but they will fix any problems you do encounter. I recommend the extended warranty with best buy also.
Cons: I am not impressed with the water resistant feature. They make it sound like you can wear it in the shower. I would not. I had to replace it twice till i read others review on it. Which by the way they had no problem replacing. I do not like their food logger or exercise logger. I use myfitnesspal that links with it. I love the negative feature of it too. If you aren't as active as you should be it shows that you have less exercise so you have to eat less calories to compensate or get off your butt to get those calories back.

I have really enjoyed the fit bit flex. It is small and easy to use. I have set goals for the day and holds me accountable for reaching those goals. I sit in an office and have set alarms every hour to make myself get up and move and that alone has helped me with my fitness goals. Since I have been using the fit bit I have moved more and have lost weight. I didn't realize how much I was sitting. I thought I was moving more but now I have my accountability partner right m=with me everyday to remind me to move.
