Many appreciate the long battery life, comfortable size and weight, and the motivational aspects of the device. Doesn't sync with my smart phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the fit bit. You don't know if your phone is compatible until you open it. I downloaded the app and it would not sync with my phone. I have the Samsung Galaxy Stellar. So it is useless to me.

Tears easily
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a month's use, my fitbit has started to tear at the connection of the plastic and the rubber. I have contacted fitbit and have not received a response. Do not buy this product until the defect is fixed.

Band broke the first night
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fit bit support responded promptly and said would send new band, but never received band. I just returned item to store. Wish it would come with clip that could just attach to clothing I know many people very happy with product. Maybe I will try again later

Not impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used podometers in the past & have done online fitness programs such as lose it , so i figured this would be a great purchase...yes & no.. prior to purchasing, I did read in the reviews that you can't see how many steps you have made, it only shows you in lines, knowing you hit your goal once the 5 lines blinked, which sucks but, if you do the math you take your goal ÷5 & voila. I loved the email notifications of all the badges I earned another feature I liked is that you can track your weight and food (like the lose it app) & was looking forward to trying out the sleep pattern on my fitbit but never did hassle with it. I did use the vibrating alarm though and that feature is fantastic. The downside of this fitbit and the reason I returned it just under a month of use; the inner part that you charge in the usb quit charging. Then the band tore & broke, right in the spot where you slide the device back in & on top of that, even without ever wearing it in the shower or sweaty workouts, IT SMELLED FOUL. Lol, even after washing it several times with antibacterial soap. All of these issues happened within sequence of each other so I threw in the towel. Thankfully my mom had gotten an extra fitbit zip for me that I can clip on or wear in my pocket like my big old school podometers. I can't wait to see how that model holds up. I will send a review for that in the next month.

Works Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have worn the Flex for around a week now. It seems to be fairly accurate. I am a previous zip user and the numbers that I got from that device are around the same. I have read ALOT of reviews online, and it seems people are complaining that it calculates steps when waving arms and typing. Mine does not do this at all. In fact I have the app open on my desk and monitor it to see if steps are tracked when I type and they are not. I also drive 1 hour to work and 1 hour back every day it it maybe calculates 5 steps. My Zip did the same thing. I did however make sure that I wear it on my non-dominant hand and have the setting online set to "dominant". The dominant setting makes the devices less sensitive and maybe thats why people are have accuracy issues. Overall, I really enjoy it and it helps me reach my daily goal of 15,000.

Not very accurate
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to help keep track of my activities. I do a lot of stair climbing throughout the day and this device is not accurate at all at capturing the number of stairs climbed.

very poor product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid over $100 for something that says I burned 800 calories when not even on my wrist. Step count is very inaccurate. You're better off with a notebook and pencil.

Busting some myths about the Fitbit Flex
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First things first: If you fasten/unfasten the clasp a few times (it took me 3 times), the holes in the band will loosen up and the Flex is very easy to take off/put on from that point forward. The very first review of the Flex on Amazon made that point quite clearly. Second, there is a reason there's no manual: generally, people don't read them. That's why you need to go to the website to initialize your Flex, and, hopefully, read the other instructions. FOR EXAMPLE: If your results are really inaccurate, you may need to change the default from Non-Dominant wrist (sensitive calibration) to Dominant wrist (less sensitive). [My experience: I'm using it on my non-dominant wrist, and I spend much of the day on the computer. I'm right-handed, and that's the hand I use for mouse/touchpad. My Flex is on my left (non-dominant) hand, and my results are well within my expectations for other movement.] Third, MEASURE YOUR STRIDE. If you walk, as I do, try this: Put a pencil or other straight object on the ground, just behind your heels. Walk 10 steps, bringing your heels together on the last step. Put another object behind your heels. Measure the distance in inches between the two straightedges and divide by ten. Bingo: You just got a fairly accurate stride. If you are a runner, run a known, accurately measured distance, **counting your steps.** Divide the distance by steps and convert to inches. No, the Flex doesn't have an altimeter, so it can't measure "flights of stairs." (Neither can the One, actually: it measures 10' changes in elevation.) But nothing in the Flex's literature should have given you any impression that it has an altimeter. So not having something it never purported to have, is not a problem with the device. If you do even the most basic research, you'll know the Flex only syncs via Bluetooth to a very, very few Samsung devices (two or three, I believe) and iPhones/iPads. On the other hand, it doesn't suck your Android's battery if you can't sync via Bluetooth. It takes _maybe_ two seconds to sync to my computer via the USB device, and by the time I look at my phone or tablet, the updated info is in both the Fitbit app *and* MyFitnessPal. (If you really want to sync to your phone or tablet, there are cables available to accept the Flex's USB dongle, and plug into a micro-USB port.) Before getting my Flex, I was using the Android app CardioTrainer. I'm still using CardioTrainer, because (a) it's on my phone and (b) I get to listen to music while I walk. The step counts between the Flex and CardioTrainer are within 1 percent of each other (using the same stride length, and having the phone in a back pocket). No, of course the Flex isn't a heart-rate monitor. So no, of course it's not going to *precisely* tell you how many calories you've burned. But the algorithm should be useful for the vast majority of people. If need or want pinpoint accuracy, then yes, you need a heart-rate monitor. Bottom line: For what it is intended to do, the Flex is as close to perfect as I could ask for. Everything I expected it to do, it does, and very, very well.

Great for motivation to walk, run or hike!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It counts steps and tracks sleep. Yes, it's not as fancy as the others. It doesn't tell time or count floors. But it does what it does well. And I like it because the band is changeable. The tracker fits into the band. So you can find another band you like more and use the same tracker in it. Or, if like me, you wear splints to bed, a wristband can be painful at night. So I found a clip online I could put the tracker in at night. This let me still track my sleep. My husband's Fitbit HR can't do that.

Hard to setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got my daughter and I one each. Well they do not tell you, you can't set one up for anyone under 13. So I basically bought her a watch. And mine won't hold a charge. Fun times!!!!

Poor design
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The design of the clasp is impossible to close with one hand and with a braclet there isn't another option. Was looking forward to this product launch and terribly disappointed to have to return the item.

Defective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased 2 of these for my wife and I, We have been using them daily for about 5 weeks now. They are comfortable to wear They track steps, sleep cycle, vibrating alarm Unfortunately 1 out of the 2 I purchased has a "known" defect. regardless of which charger we used (since we had 2) the fitbit will not connect correctly with the pins in the charger. It takes my wife 45 minutes to an hour to get it to connect to the charger if it will at all. while on mine I just snap it into the charger and it connects and charges just fine without any issue. We are going to try to take it back to the Best Buy Mobile store we purchased it at today and try to exchange it for the exact same thing.

Pleasantly Surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i find that it is always very accurate. The bands are comfortable. The apps that they can be added to are good. It just all around keeps me moving. Now i have had a few issues, the dongle stopped working and i emailed the company and with just a picture and copy of my receipt i promptly got a new one mailed to me. I had bought the Lime one and it did start to come apart so once again with and email and picture they sent me a new lime green one. I advise getting more than one bracelet, they will last longer and it's fun to change up the colors. The Fitbit company has be wonderful to deal with.. Never a problem, they respond quickly and are very helpful. The last thing bad that happened was my fault. I lost my bracelet with the tracker. So i sent them and email telling them what happened and asked if they could sell me just the tracker even a refurbished would have been good. They sent me a brand new Fitbit.. The product is new it's going to have problems but I think the company wonderful and they care about their customers.and yes because of it I am starting to lose weight the healthy way.
