For step tracking:
Confirm your height and wrist settings are correct in the Fitbit app to get the best results. Since it uses height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average.
For tracking heart rate:
1. Tighten the band so that it doesn’t slip on your wrist
2. Heart-rate tracking may not work with certain accessory bands, especially if they’re loose fitting
3. Use the Exercise app to record GPS data for your workout.
4. Intense arm movements can weaken your device's signal. If this occurs, relax and keep your wrist still for roughly 10 seconds.

Fitbit Sense 2

Unfortunately I didn't discover it until the Best Buy two week return period was over. Fitbit replaced it with a refurbished one that didn't work either. They send a third refurbished one that worked better. I liked my Versa Lite much better than the Sense. The Sense 2 doesn't vibrate enough for me to feel the notifications. The menus are more difficult to navigate. Even though I've used their products for 10 years, I would suggest getting a different brand than Fitbit.

Works until charger melted just outside of warrant

This is the 3rd for it that breaks down for whatever reason literally right when warranty ends. Thank god for credit card extended warranty.
