Purchased this watch for my husband. It's a little bulkier than he likes, but he enjoys the features so much he's trying to ignore the size. Heart rate monitor seems to work well, he enjoys being able to track how he slept and his steps. The GPS is slightly off, but we expected that from other reviews. Overall, this watch is a win for Fitbit.

This tracker is exactly what I was looking for and more. Easy to use, tracks steps, altitude, running route, user friendly alarms, adjustable watch faces and more. Not the most stylish watch I have ever worn, but it's purpose is to track and motivate, and it does.

I bought the Fitbit Surge because of all the features. I probably will get around to them some day. The instructions are poor unless you down load 50 pages from the internet, which I did. I looked through them to find no way to turn it off and save the battery. Perhaps I missed it somewhere. When I first used it, the battery was great for about 4 to 5 days. After a couple weeks I started getting about 30 good hours out of it before I needed to charge it. Yes, to recommend but not happy about the battery life.

Nice device. Has a lot of features. Like the IPhone/android sync feature. Also nice touch having the phone notification for calls. It's a bit bigger than some of the lesser Fitbits but it works just like you'd expect. I like it. Has very good battery life

It's a great product. Has everything you'll ever need to help track and guide you on a healthy life style. Everything from the heart rate and gps tracker to showing how much you move while you sleep.

I returned my Fitbit Surge after a month of use. I love the app computer face. I, unlike others, thought the watch band was quite comfortable. I'm 45 years old, so while the watch appears a bit "clunky", I would have not been able to see the screen if it were any smaller, as I don't wear reading glasses to run. For the most part, the GPS seemed fairly accurate - always within a couple of hundredths of a mile on 7 mile or less runs. The reason I returned the watch is simple. With every feature turned off, the battery would be half empty by the afternoon. I'm not sure if I had a faulty watch or if this is true in general. If it kept a 5 day charge with "normal use" (which, for a fitness watch, you'd think "normal use" would be using it to track daily activities) then I would have kept the watch. However, it was a little too frustrating to prepare to go for a run (or for bed) and realize that to track the activity or sleep one would need to plug it in and wait an hour or two. I'm going to say that I would not recommend it to a friend, but only based upon the batter life. The rest of the features functioned as I had hoped - and I already kind of miss having it on during my runs.

Good for resting HR and sleep tracking

The main thing I wanted from this activity tracker was the resting HR and sleep tracking. As an endurance cyclist I have other tools for tracking my exercise. After the last firmware upgrade the Surge does now include cycling as an exercise and the GPS tracking is adequate but the HR is lower than accurate. That said HR is fairly accurate under light loads. Overall it is a good purchase for my purposes but if you are expecting it to replace a Garmin or Wahoo (or similar) device you will be disappointed.

this watch/app gets and keeps you motivated.. My husband and I, needed something to get us back to working out and keeping our food intake --in check... This watch/tracker makes tracking workouts easy and the app allows for the rest of it. Being in an older age group the heart rate monitor was also VERY IMPORTANT... Getting my texts and controlling my music. Is icing... :-). All in all you won't find anything with the feature set (that works) on any other tracker. I chose it over the APPLE WATCH AND VERY GLAD I DID...I love apple products it is just that neither the watch or the apps are rest for "prime time" and don't get me started on charging EVERY DAY or less..

I am more into weight training but also do quite a bit of cardiovascular exercise, mainly stepmills, stairsteppers and elliptical machines. I loved my Fitbit One and tried this new top of the line model Surge. Does most things well, but the GPS and music control features are wasted on a gym rat like myself. If you are an outdoor runner, get this. If not, one of the lower end models will do nicely.

I have never been fit in my life, and at 50 am starting to feel rather mortal. The FitBit Surge has been a fantastic tool to keep me on track with both my fitness and weight loss program. I love that I can customize the activities/exercises through the web site. The GPS feature is great for walks and hikes. Overall it is great to keep me motivated. I would highly recommend it.

I bought this as a birthday present for my husband, who is a high school track and cross country coach. He wears it on runs and likes it a lot for that, but he really doesn't wear it 24/7 as it is meant to be work. He likes how it tracks everything about a run, including split times. The only negative is that at times, the battery seems to not charge when it is plugged in to the computer.

This monitor/watch does everything it claims. I was using the Fitbit Flex and wanted something that had more features. The Surge has everything I wanted. It's a little bulky at first, but I got used to it quickly and am very happy with it.

Super item overall. + Like the sleep monitoring function + Easy to log most food (especially if not homemade) + Battery lasts about 5 days - Need to resolve an issue with loose USB charger connection - Email warning re: low battery could be earlier and/or another method could be used such as a clear visual sign of low battery status (on a day trip battery quit so lost tracking capability)

I love how my fitbit surge allows me to see who is calling & texting me. I like how it logs not only the calories I have burned by exercising but also the calories my body burns from performing daily functions (digestion...). I was using a withings pulse previous & it only tracked my exercise. I do wish it would let me read more than 1 text from the same person. Also, the sleep portion of the app doesn't go as in depth as I would like it to, but it is very user friendly.

Bought as gifts for Christmas. The "semi-adult" kids enjoy their new tech. It gave us all something to talk about - how many hours did you sleep; how restless were you; how many steps. Besides health, it's a fun conversation piece.

The Surge works as advertised for all activities. The only thing that I don't like is the daily wear, when not active, it always feels like it is in the way and can even start feeling tight, maybe I'm swelling :-) , but it's just a little large for those that are at a keyboard and wearing long sleeve shirts for a majority of the day. I do like the feature that monitors your sleep but it could be annoying if you sleep with your watch hand under the pillow. :-)

Fitbit Surge is a great fitness watch. The Fitbit app is easy and intuitive. The only thing that i would change would be the addition of a color screen and other band options. I understand that the color screen might impact battery life and getting 4 to 5 days with the black and white LCD is satisfactory.
