The watch I was looking for!

I initially wanted to get a watch for my golf instruction but I wanted it to do more than tell time. I had a friend get a fit bit Charge and said that it did some great things. After researching it, the Surge, with the 24 hour heart rate monitor and gps was the best fit for my needs. I have had it for less than a week and I have learned more about my sleep habits and calorie intake from the FitBit app that will help me shape my new year. The watch was actually smaller that I had expected based on some of the other reviews,(it was much smaller than my ACTUAL watch). Being a data driven guy, this was a great purchase.

I've had this now since December 31st, 2014. I think the software that the surge sync's with is excellent. I found it very easy to set up. It's easy to track activities. The Fitbit dashboard gives you a ton of information and inspired me to start logging everything I eat. I've lost 22lbs already. I'm not 100% sure how precise the calorie burn and heart rate functions are, but they are good enough for me. I've had difficulty once or twice syncing my watch with my phone or tablet, but not a major thing. I wish the extra charging cables were more readily available. Seems I can only purchase one from Fitbit directly for $20 plus shipping, which is a little pricey. It would be nice to have one at work and one at home.

For a while, I had been looking at multiple smart watches and fitness bands to see which one would best suit me. I finally decided to get the Fitbit surge and purchased it at my local Best Buy. As soon as I put it on it felt comfortable, I usually don't wear watched but it only took me a little while to get used to something on my wrist. The battery life is great, I charge it when I shower and never have low battery. The gps and all the fitness tracking features are awesome, I love seeing how many steps I've done throughout the day. The one thing that really bugged me was that I started getting a rash on my wrist from wearing the surge. It got really red and itchy and Fitbit only recommended to stop using the product for a while, it's an expensive product I just wasn't gonna put it away. After a while my skin rash went away and every now and then it'll come back. It's really important to keep the band dry to prevent any moisture on the wrist. That's the only flaw, other than that it's great! I love my Fitbit!

This Fitbit really does work to motivate you to keep moving and hit your fitness goals. Heart monitor works well and the item tracks equivalent stair cases using it's built in altimeter. Tracks sleep if you wear it to bed, Sends messages to mobile phone to encourage you to get in your steps daily and send awards for achievements like 50 or 75 staircases in a day. It sounds hokey, but it does motivate. Only downside is band which is a bit sweaty and not replaceable

I can't say enough about how much I love the Surge! This is definitely a different product than all others in the "smart watch" category, and for a fitness-minded person, that is perfectly fine with me. I really don't need to send voice texts, and the monochrome face is simple and won't drain the battery as quickly as watches like the LG G (which I tried for a bit). The HR monitor is a great added feature that adds a layer of legitimacy to how many calories you are likely burning. Then adding in the GPS has been amazing! I do a lot of trail runs that I never quite knew how long I went or average pace, but now seeing a map overlay, total time, mile splits, etc, has added so much insight to my fitness activities. Also, without a GPS aspect of my FitBit Force, I could walk 1 mile and run 1 mile, and it would think that I ran less because I technically took less steps. The only thing I would say is a deterrent is the price. It's a big jump from the other FitBit products, which I assume is because of the GPS, but luckily, I had the Force, which I sent in for a refund and had Best Buy points to cover the remainder. I didn't pay anything out of pocket, but while I would say it's worth the extra cost, being such a big jump will likely turn people off.

I love the Fitbit Surge. It is so easy to use. The GPS is extremely accurate. The heartbeat monitor is spot on. I've suffered from insomnia for over 15 years. Sure the sleep medicine helps but I don't like taking any medicine unless it is vital to my health. The Surge has helped me to understand my sleep patterns, making it easier to fall asleep with only occasional use of medication. The notifications of texts while working out is a nice touch. I can look at the Surge to determine if I need to respond w/o pulling out my phone. The battery life is okay, I do wish it ran longer between charges. Now for my only complaint. I developed a rash from wearing the surge after a month. After a vigorous cleaning with a medical grade cleaner the rash hasn't re-appeared.

I love my Fitbit. I wish the battery held a charge longer, but other than that, I love it! It counts my steps and has GPS and mile tracking for when I go on long runs. It calculates my pace and shows the path I ran. It shows my heart rate throughout the day and can connect it to my phone. Very easy to use and comfortable...I can hardly tell I am wearing it sometimes!

The Fitbit Surge has been very accurate in monitoring my heart rate, how many steps I take while walking, as well as how many flights of stairs. I like how it tracks my sleeping patters and how I can compete with others who have Fitbits to bet goals. I think it is great that I can also link my iPhone with it and check out my progress there. It has been convenient to see text notifications when I receive them.

The Fitbit Surge is an excellent piece of tracker for multiple needs from steps counting to various exercixe to GPS enabled running with continuous heart rate. Everything about this product is awesome except for the battery life which lasts upto 5 days without GPS function and about 1 day with GPS function. Also, I wish that for this price they would use a better strap which is rather cheap looking.

Pros: GPS very accurate on free run, have a couple of running routes established and it was right on. Easy to read on a run. Good summary page after your run. Easy interface with smartphone app. Call and text notifications work well. Heart Rate monitor is impressive. Very light and comfortable, looks good. Cons: Battery life if using GPS everyday for running not great, getting 2.5 days without a charge. No e-mail notification like on some new competitive bands.

I bought this knowing it had some limitations such as occasionally unreliable heart rate info and not really being a water proof device, but I like the online FitBit environment so I decided to go with it. It has really exceeded my expectations. It's a great jump up from my Flex and I love the sleep tracking. The GPS is quick and as reliable as the GPS on my phone.

I have tried several brands in the Fitbit family since my Nice+ Sports Watch died. The Surge has an automatic sleep tracker, tracks your steps, heart rate, miles, calories, floors climbed. It also tracks your runs, and your exercise. It tracks your sleep quality to see how much sleep vs how restless you were during the night. The surge will track your steps whether you are wearing on your wrist or in your pocket. The battery only stays charged for about 4 - 5 days. The stair counter is not always accurate. Sometime it detects more stairs or less stairs then you actually did. I just try harder. This has a nice GPS feature. Sometime The Surge will automatically detect if you are riding a bike or on some type of exercise. Fitbit finally did it right, when they made the Surge.

I was skeptical about fitbits before my purchase. I read all of the reviews before purchasing and figured I could get most of the features through various apps or devices on my smartphone. After a week of using it and the fitbit app, I've realized that having all of the features (sleep tracking, step counting, heart rate, GPS, calorie tracking) in one app make it very convenient to set goals for improvement in my unhealthy habits. My only complaint is that the charger is very loose on my fitbit surge and pops off easily, even when i am setting it down on my bed to shower... Maybe I have a dud?

So, I upgraded from the Charge to the Surge. I did this because I would have to wear a watch along with the Charge to ensure that I didn't drain the battery constantly looking at the time. I love the Surge's multiple screen changes. I love the fact that I can track my heart rate, steps, different activities, stairs, miles, but what I'm most disappointed about is the battery life. I get about 4 days of charge before having to plug it up. It's quite frustrating! I'm not syncing automatically.....I don't have the backlight or the music feature on.....but still just 4 days. I keep it solely because I have one thing on my arm as opposed to two. One thing I will tell you....make sure that you purchase a screen protector as it has saved me from having a scratched up device.

I have owned fitbits before and I really liked the products. I am a multi-sport person and the Surge gives me more than HR and steps. GPS works fast and I like the simplicity and ease of programming the watch. It is great. The next step would be to waterproof it (it is water resistant) and I work in China, so it would be great to have a simple pollution indicator on it. (red, yellow and green light). All in all I highly recommend this watch.

I have only used two health trackers so my experience is limited. But I have had this for a number of weeks and I am happy overall. I got this because I have an intermittent form of atrial fibrillation and I had hoped this would help to detect it, but It does not. However, I do enjoy the resting heart rate calculations, automatic sleep monitoring and step counting. I believe it is more accurate than the other device I had used. I like that you can actively see your step counts increment so if you wanted to test it, it is easy to do so. It is comfortable to wear and position and cleaning are important but not a burdeoning chore. I have been using a chest monitor for a few weeks while working out and except for a couple of times (I needed to clean the sensor), it tracked very well with the chest monitor. I like the fact that using your resting heart rate, you can get a more accurate count of your calories burned throughout a day. Minor wish not for most people: The device provides filtering of your heart rate data and I wish they had a development kit that allowed the modification of this filter or a display of the raw data.

I have found that this fitness watch is accurate and useful in every aspect. Heart rate and GPS both work as expected and have been reliable in wooded areas without losing connection. The battery life could be better, but is far from a deal breaker, I get 3-4 days on a charge depending on use.

I really liked my gps sensor. Now i don't have to run with my phone in my pocket. its really feels nice on the wrist and tracks heart beat quite well. the app syncs up everyday . the only down fall i can see in this watch that fitbit claims its not water proof. i shower with my watch every day i just dry it after the shower. for $249 it should have been water and rain proof. but it is water proof fitbit just doesn't want to risk it i guess. over all best fitness tracker i have used.

Still getting accustomed to it... it's pretty big on my arm....but love the detail provided...and best of all...love that I don't need to monitor it to make sure the step counter got put in pause due to it's in sleep mode or paused itself like the galaxy did... love, love that it monitors my sleep automatically without me having to activate it.... and love the fitbit app with all it's tracking features... the history etc...and the camaraderie and motivation I get in watching my steps compare with friends - Only thing I wish is I could switch out the band surrounding it like I could with the gear fit... according to my mood or season.... it's huge and would've been nice to be able to change out the band to fit my personality more or girl it up some.

The Fitbit Surge is a great idea that can improve your fitness used properly. It can benefit you in tracking workouts. Most of the fitness watches key on cardiovascular fitness and there is much more involved. That is what draws me to the Surge, as I do a variety of workouts. Weightlifting is one and you can track that with the Surge. The surge is good but not great which leads me to the limiting factors of the watch. The battery life is awful. Use the GPS and you will be recharging almost daily. Even when you don't use it, you will still be recharging every 4-5 days. The battery life limits the potential of the watch. And the time to recharge is never at a convenient time. For women and men with smaller wrists, the watch is bulky and clunky. It looks big and is big on your wrist. For some people this a turn-off. Fitbit has an annoying habit of using propriety chargers with their devices, which means if you don't have the charger you are out of luck. They even use different chargers on several of their devices. Nothing beats having to take a whole bunch of different chargers when you travel. Would I recommend the Fitbit/ yes with reservations. It needs a redesign and you need to be aware of the battery limitations.
