As with most, I've had a Fitbit Flex for the past year or so and was really looking forward to this watch. I'm going to to break this down into different sections. I've been using this for about a week and it has really been a mixed bag. Of note, I've really only used this and planned to use this for running so I can't really comment on the other functions. GPS: Takes a good minute to get a signal when starting a workout. Interestingly, from a distance perspective, it seems that this is pretty accurate...what is interesting is that when you look at the actual route, you wonder how it even got close to the actual distance. While the route lines seem to mimic what I've done with regard to turns and such, they can be so far off when overlaying the route on top of the map. At first I was wondering if it was a discrepancy between the maps being used but what happens is that it tends to get better about 10-15 minutes into my run. Again, I'm not saying that this is now inaccurate, especially given the results (usually within 0.1 miles or so) but I'm curious as to how it is happening. HR Monitor: Contrary to what I've read in several other forums, I've actually had 0 problems with the HR function at either rest or during activity. It is a bit choppy, but that's what you'd expect on something that is only measuring ever few seconds. I think the key is that you really need to ensure that the monitor will be in contact with your wrist the whole time even if it means making it a bit tighter when working out or by pushing it further up your wrist. Smart Watch Functions: Notifications are good. Nice to get text and phone alerts on my wrist without having to look at my phone but there is a character limit to texts. I also wish was more. Basically all it can do now is phone/text notifications, and controlling music. As I use Bluetooth headphones, that eliminates music control for me. I feel like it should be able to do more (e.g. weather, calendar alerts, etc.)....and maybe it can/will do more but it doesn't as of now. Other (Floors, Sleep, etc.) - The watch does seem to keep a good estimate of how many floors you have. Water resistance is an area of concern. It says it is resistant up to 5 ATM but then you get specific recommendations that you should not take it in the shower...and why is there not a swimming option? Screen: Touch interface seems pretty good. Screen display is blah....black and white. Alas, when it comes down to it, I think I was expecting more out of this watch, especially for $250. When you compare it with what is out there now, it is indeed the most complete IMO, but I feel like the minute some of the other competitors come out, this will be outdated. I'm going to try and give it a little more time, but I think this will be going back.
