Not a quality product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received as a Christmas Present, and now on my third one. The first one would run for almost two days before the battery went dead. FitBit response was to send a replacement after having me run some tests while they watched through the site. The second one was initially better holding a charge for 5 to six days for about two weeks. Then became totally unreliable. Charge would last from 12 hours to three days. I adjusted settings to maximize battery life per the fitbit website recommendation, but did not make much difference. THEN THE FABRIC PART OF THE BAND CAME UNGLUED ON ONE SIDE. Received my third one yesterday and so far, it seems ok except it won't pair with my phone. For a $250 device, this performs like a 19.95 device. I previously used garmin, timex, and phone based devices. All worked well and reliably but required a chest strap for heart rate. I found the heart rate performance to be good, but I do not stress the devices capability. While the easy dealing on warranty issues seems positive at first, the ease with which I am able to get a new device seems to me to indicate the company knows this device is totally unreliable. This is my last fitbit.

So far I am Impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I am impressed. The interface is easy to use and for the most part is intuitive. I like the fact that the operation of some of the watches functions can be done with the buttons on the side of the watch. This is nice when I am sweaty or cannot use the touch screen. The step count tends to be a little too sensitive when I am driving and I tend to get a few (50 to 150) extra steps when I am driving down county roads that leave something to be desired in the smooth ride department. The website does warn that this can happen but in the overall total of the day it is less than a 1% increase in the number of steps that I have taken in the day. I have only been using the Surge for 3 days but have been impressed with the way that it works. I was unsure of the activity tracker that I wanted and tried the Basis Peak before the Surge and both have their pros and cons but all in all they both work well and the one feature that I wanted was to have my pace displayed on the watch. The Peak did not do that and so I went with the Surge. A note about Best Buy. Their policy of allowing you to "test drive" the wearable technology was the major reason that I purchased it from them. I was on the fence on which device to choose and this policy helped me make an informed decision on the device that best fit my needs. KUDOS Best Buy! Pros: Easy to Use, Great App, Displays Running/Walking pace, Button Operation. Cons: A little large on the Wrist

Just a fitness tracker, not a smart watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this watch last night without much research. I had only seen several people in the office using it. The watch/tracker does work and it does the things that it says it can do. I does do notifications and it does work with an iPhone. The problem is I assumed it would work with i Message, it does not work with iMessage. I talked to Fitbit and they verified that for me. You cannot get email on the Surge even though it is $249 plus tax, email is not part of notifications. When they say notifications, they mean phone calls and SMS text. There are a lot of fitness screens and I like the watch, but without email and iMessage it is not waht I thought it was.

Doesn't stay connected with Android phone.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cons: Does not stay synced with android (I have a Galaxy s4) Very bulky (will get caught on longs sleeves) 1 out of 8 notifications get received HR seems to be off I payed about 320 with warranty and I much rather buy a pebble or vivosmart watch. Pros: 6-7 days battery life easy to use Seems to be more compatible with Ipod (I have a Ipod touch 5th gen)

I recommend the Fitbit Surge
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the Surge for over a month now and have been very satisfied with its performance. I'm able to track steps and heart rate during very rigorous games of racquetball, as well as all other activities I've participated in since the purchase. The message alerts have also been useful when my phone isn't in hand.

Very good device @ fair price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works as promised. Moved from the Flex and I really like the Surge. Getting between 4-5 days on a charge. I thought the price was fair for what I'm getting. I've had it for a week now and I'm very happy with it.

functionality sound, wearability needs work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All of the functions work as advertised, the band leaves a rash on the skin. I alternate the watch daily between left and right arm, but still getting a rash.

Not built to last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have now had my watch for over 6 months, and it began to break down within 4 months. The watch band has cracks along the screws, and I am constantly having to snap it back into place, and the cracks keep getting bigger. The counter rarely gives me the same distance when running laps, and its ability to accurately track when using an elliptical is horrendous. You would think if they have a specific setting for it they have at least adjusted the alogorithim to account for it, but freguently I do 5 miles and it measures 2. I expect some variance, but 3 miles is unrealistic. I often find times too when it isn't measuring my steps at all, and have tested this on numerous occasions. Sleep tracker seems to work well enough though, but if you actively work out this is not the tracker for you.

Great Motovational Tool
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife owns a Charge and I own a Surge. We have only owned them for a week but I would consider it to be on of the best purchases I have make, concerning our health. We compete against each other and this has inspired us to walk everywhere. Prior to last week my wife would complain if I parked too far from a store entrance, now we deliberately park the farthest and walk to the entrance, Getting to the 10000 step count every day and earning badges has really motivated us. On the downside. I wish it would have better reporting and charts. Also, none of our smart phone are able to Bluetooth in, you need Bluetooth 4.0 on your phone.

FitBit Surge swuipe and menu access problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received my FitBit Surge today after checking the Best Buy reviews. I opened the package and found that screen on the unit would not swipe. I thought this may be an isolated problem until I went on the FitBit Community page and found that there were several pages of reviews with the exact same issues. Here is a link to the FitBit blog to see for yourself. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Surge/Unable-to-swipe-between-screens/m-p/592370/highlight/false#M446 There is not a solution at this time and it seems this product even today is in the beta phase and should not have been released. Some have sent units back and been successful while others have not. I tried all of the troubleshooting and none have helped. I would suggest waiting until the bugs are worked out before investing in this product. This one is going back asap.

Very useful product ...horrible battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had my Surge for going 4 weeks and have really enjoyed it until the end of week 3 the battery life went from lasting 4-5 days down to barely making it through one day on 2-3 hours charge. I do not use it with GPS tracking and have no alarms set. Don't even have it sending text or phone call notifications and it still barely makes it 24 hours. Great product but sucky battery life...and not to impressed at with that important issue. Will be contacting Fitbit to see what they are going to do to fix this.

Awesome Fitness Accessory!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my husband to use for cycling and basic fitness tracking. It is amazing! GPS to tell him where and how far he cycled, MPS control, and statistic readout right from his wrist. I want one now.

Fantastic with Flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all I love the watch, sadly after approximately 6 months of hard use the band started to tear. Now I have a torn band on both sides of the watch. When I looked up to see if you can replace the band, on FitBits website Q&A it was asked and answered, that unfortunately you cannot replace the band on the Surge. They tell you that you can on a couple others, but that doesn't help me. I would still love to use it but before I know it, it will be totally torn. Also when I upgraded my phone to the iPhone 7 it stopped syncing with the phone. Not sure if that's a compatibility issue or what. Sadly because of the band issue I cannot recommend this to a friend. I would get the blaze but I am really looking for a GPS enabled watch.

This Watch is not worth $249.00
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I would have read the lower rated reviews before purchasing this so called watch. I have no idea how this watch would receive a 4 star and above rating at all. 1. The display is so dark you can barely read the date. You are able to read the time, but it is not even close to being as bright as the two lower Fitbit models. 2. The battery doesn't last but 4 days. The watch comes with their own charger cable of which by the way doesn't fit very well into the watch. 3. All of the complaints about the BPM on the reviews are correct the accuracy of the watch is poor. Last but not least is this really comparable to a regular watch NO not even close. If you buy a watch it should be rugged enough to wear as one. save your money and buy a smaller fitbit.

moisture get into the watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love the watch. It is a good sport watch. The watch tracks heartbeat 24 hours and count steps. BUT The watch is not water resistance as it states and the arm sweat will get into the watch. Once you see moisture inside the screen, it is a matter of time of complete failure.

Pretty good fitness watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So it's been two days with the FitBit Surge and I am impressed. Pretty accurate heart rate tracking, steps, distance, sleep, etc. The FitBit iPhone app adds calorie/food tracking and the ability to review past data. Battery life seems pretty good so far even with continuous heart rate and Bluetooth on. It's pretty comfortable even while I am sleeping. The call notification works as advertised but the text message notification is very basic with the ability to only read incoming messages. Overall a great fitness watch with basic smart watch features.

Glitches galore!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading the reviews, I was really looking forward to owning this watch. I've had it for 6 weeks now. It keeps a charge for 5-7 days... unless you actually work out. Then it's 3 days, maybe 4 if you're lucky. If I swing my arms the way I normally do when I walk, it only records 60% of my steps. So when I walk, I have to keep the surge wrist glued to my side so it records my steps. Weird. I've tried this over and over counting my steps all the while and it's consistently off on step count. The vibrating notifications worked great for the first 2 weeks I owned it, then stopped working. I went online and saw some suggestions to reset the watch or restart it altogether. Kept trying both and the vibration would work one or two times after, then stop working again. I still can't get the music controls to work and I've followed the instructions to a T. The heart rate function is the main reason I purchased the watch and it's very spotty. Sometimes it'll show my heart rate spike to 170 bpm during a workout, then come back down. I'm pretty sure this isn't happening. Other times it'll show a highly elevated heart rate when my workout activity is roughly the same throughout my workout. I'm taking it back to Best Buy to exchange for a different Surge hoping I just got a bad watch. If I still have some of the same issues, I'm trading it in for a different (better) fitness watch.
