I am really happy with my fitbit. There are only two things I wish were different - I wish the battery lasted longer and that the GPS was a little more accurate.

    Not worth the cost

Why pay to have all the bells and whistles if you can't read the display? Surge display is not nearly as bright as the cheaper models which can be read easier in all lighting. Returning for the cheaper model.

    Not worth the money

I had the fit bit charge HR and i liked that one. It was very comfortable. I wore it to sleep and everything. I wore this watch for one day and brought it back. It did not receive my notifications and it was very uncomfortable to wear. It has a strange shape to it...like a hump that elevates it right near the wrist bone. It is also kind of hard to see. No brightness to turn up. Very disappointed in a watch that cost $150 more than my gear s smartwatch and does a lot less.

    GPS fails during run

    Posted .

The GPS locked up during my 2 mile run at 1.2 miles. I live in the desert with super clear skies. My Garmins have never had an issue. I had hoped the other sensors would take over and still keep my run data somewhat useful but it calculated my Pace based on the full time but only on 1.2 miles showing a 19 minute mile. Fitbit community forums shows this is wide spread. This device has promise, but it looks like GPS is too much for them.

Poor battery life and inaccurate heart rate tracki

Ive turned off just about everything I can and only sync in the evening. I'm getting about 3 to 4 days on a charge. The heart rate recorded at my wrist manually will be 50 to 60 but the device will record in the 110 range. Ive had trouble syncing consistently. Generally end up reseting/rebooting watch and devices (supported smartphone and tablet). Often times have to plug it into the laptop. Finally, autobacklight not working consistently in a dark room. I suspected an issue when I opened it up. It was on with insufficient power to connect/pair. Seems that it may have been previously returned and put back out for sale. Just a hunch. As it's 15 days at 1035 I need to get over there when the doors open.

    Good but Screen Defective

Purchased my Surge in January 2015. SInce then I have had it replaced 2 times, once for a worn band, and once for a cracked screen. The screen cracked a second time, without any impact to it. No heat exposure either. The device worked pretty well, the HR montior malfunctions once you sweat a lot, during an intense work out, but other than that pretty accurate. I would be aware of the cracked screen issue. FitBit refused to replace it after the screen cracked the second time, was over one year since original purchase. Keep in mind, the warranty clock starts ticking on the original device and if you have it replaced, the warranty does NOT reset. Something to consider.

It's a watch but other than that it lacks on accuracy tracking calories. It's about 150 calories off to what the elyptical says. Heart rate monitor drops off with -- when you sweat even just a little. Step counter seems to work but other than what I mentioned it's not worth the extra 107 from the Charge HR which seems to be the better buy.

I was so excited to try this product, but after 2 days I'm extremely disappointed. It does not give me notifications on my galaxy s5. When I turn on notifications it gets stuck on configuring and then tells me to restart bluetooth. It also looks really big on my wrist and feels a bit uncomfortable. This is going back tomorrow!!

    Disappointing

After reading reviews and checking these out in the store, I decided to pull the trigger. After all, it had a built in GPS chip and was waterproof. I work out and also kayak fish, so it seemed to be perfect for my needs. I could not only use it at the gym, but also to track my path as a fish. When I unboxed it, it was kind of cool to play around with, except that I noticed the screen was a little dull. After fully charging it and doing the setup, it almost completely locked up. It would only switch between the clock screen and alarm screen. There is also no setting that I could find to change the screen brightness. I returned it and decided to try the Blaze instead.

    Sleep works part time

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought my Surge in October. Set the sleep time from 10:00pm to 6:30am. Sometimes it gets it right, but most of the time it only tracks from mid-night to when I get up. I tried changing the sensitivity, but that was no help. This is the main reason I spent $250. The other features are good, but if you are buying for sleep monitoring - think again.

    Not very comfortable

I would give this tracker an "OK" rating. It is not very comfortable on the wrist with the heart rate tracker poking into your wrist. Also I experienced issues with the Bluetooth staying connected to my phone. With a few upgrades I think this could get better

    Poor Product Support

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For the money, the Surge has a clumsy interface, poorly lit, should be in color and has lousy product resources for any questions regarding use of product and how to use the information once you get it on the device. After I bought the device, I followed the 4 page, two x two inch instructions on how to download the FitBit app and sync the device. Any answers to questions after that point came via FitBit forum pages. Got a question on how to add exercise short cuts? Welcome to the forum. Wade through posts to find your answers! Got a question on how to move info off device to your computer? Welcome to FitBit forums! No thanks. How about a manual or at the very least a PDF downloadable version. Maybe there is one. But I couldn't find the info on FitBit forum. Greatly disappointed. Supremely let down. Returned it 1 hour after I purchased it.

Its not very nice to look at and the screen imaging just feels outdated. I tried it out but didn't care for it; the step counter is very inaccurate and with all the other options out there with better LED screens and much better displays; I would rather look more the something else.

    The last straw

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had my Surge for a while (over a year now). I've verified several times that the heart rate monitor and the GPS are quite inaccurate. Now, the band broke. That's the last straw, I'm dumping it. I had a Garmin before getting my Fit Bit (a 'Forefunner'), it was old school, but I've miss it. I'm going to shop for a new Garmin to replace my fitbit. The Fit Bit seems great for tracking sleep, but that's not that important to me.

I recently purchased this merchandise today. I spent the whole day trying to get it to work. It looks great, feels great but was unable to use it. I could not sync it to my phone (android) or two computers (Windows 10 Windows Vista). Called fitbit for tech support. They were nice but even they recommend I return the product. Traded it for a new one and the same issues. Not to mention that I received attitude from customer service because I wanted my 10% coupon back which they were unwilling to give me (Gratiot and 13 mile in Michigan). Now I will have to return the item for a second time. Probable won't go fitbit again.
