    Band is not replaceable

The Surge does all that is advertised, and it works very well. However, my first one had to be replaced after 6 months, not because it didn't work, but because there is no way to switch out the band--you have to replace the device. They did that the first time. But about a year later when the replacement's band began failing, they just offered a discount. I am a walker, so not particularly stressful on watches. If you are actively doing exercise more active than walking, you might want to think twice about buying this device.

    Read The FitBit Forums

The Surge has many, many issues syncing with PC's and hangs up in the configuration and sync screens regularly. I wish I had read them before I bought one, I have subsequently taken it back to BestBuy. Not a reliable product.

I wanted a fitness device, but I wanted one that looked like a more traditional watch. This one is perfect. Looks nice, and it's been comfortable.

TERRIBLE QUALITY - READ NEGATIVE REVIEWS

Really nice concept - Fitbit products. UNFORTUNATELY VERY POOR QUALITY. 4 of us owned Fitbit watches. 2 of the watches lasted just over 1 year, 2 of the watches lasted just over 1 1/2 yrs. NONE OF US WILL EVER BUY A FITBIT AGAIN. My Fitbit Surge was good for about a year and then screen swipe started slowing down and finally failed all together 6 months later. The others watches also stopped working. Numerous resets and calls to Fitbit customer service helpful....unless you like a $25 discount on purchasing a new Fitbit. READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. ALL TRUE UNFORTUNATELY

    Poor product

I was super excited to buy this. However, that battery life is disappointing. I bought this over other similar products due to the GPS tracking. I have to say I am more than disappointed. I have run exactly the same distance on the same route many times and never once has my surge come even close to tracking the distance. On a three mile run, the distance tracked has varied by at least 1/4 mile every time. On this short of a route, the distance should not vary this much. Wish I woudl have purchased the Garmin like others I know as they are extremely happy with the performance of that.

Ordered online. After online and instore troubleshooting, HR LEDs were dead-on-arrival, Step-count substantially over-estimates, sleep tracking features not functioning. Returned. Bummer, really had high hopes for this tracker, had all the features I wanted.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! My wife bought this as a gift for me at BB. I have been using several Fitbit trackers. The band design on the Surge is completely flawed as reflected in the numerous comments from Surge customers. It bubbles up and/or breaks at the screws. Fitbit will keep sending you a replacement until the warranty is up. Then you are stuck with your $270 lemon. I have three of them where the band is peeling. Fitbit does not allow for its customers to trade the broken Surge in for another, less expensive product with exchangeable bands. Don't buy this or you will be stuck with it when it breaks - and break it will.

    Very Disappointing

I purchased my FitBit at Best Buy in January 2016. It had to be replaced by Apple within 6 months. Then the new device died in under 8 months. Battery life is terrible and the quality/durability of the device is terrible. I recommend if you are an avid runner or fitness person, choose a Garmin and do not waste your time with this device. Just very disappointed with this device overall.

Not as Good as Fitbit Blaze

This is an ok tracker, but nothing like the Blaze. Band is a little on the larger size so it looks awkward if you are thin.

Do not buy a Fitbit Surge

    Posted .

Running & conditioning Coach. I've worn Garmin fitness watches for years. I was impressed with the Fitbit phone app and the Surge watch interface. I bought a Surge in Nov 2016. As of Feb the watch locked up/froze once for no apparent reason and more aggravating is the band strap is lifting up/peeling from where it connects to the watch face. Only after purchasing the Surge did I go on line and read reviews from other Surge users. If I had done so before buying the Surge I would have seen the same complaints from other users and I can now say I would not have purchased the Surge. Fitbit needs to take the Surge back into the drawing room for some critical quality control fixes. For $250 you should not have these kinds of problems with a fitness watch that is less than one year old. Do not buy a Surge. For the money there are plenty of fitness watches with much better quality controls in place.
