The watch band is not replaceable on this watch

I like the features on this watch but can not recommend buying it. After less than a year's use the band has broken and can NOT be replaced. A $250 watch that has been designed such that you can't replace the band on is ridiculous. Do not buy!

Fitbit is good as long as you...

Fitbit is good as long as you need to export data. The export tool (only available on fitbits website) is not working and has not for over a week. This is not the first time it has stopped this year. Back in march the same problem occurred. I will be looking for an alternative.

easily damaged, does not hold charge for any good length of time; charger often does not stay connected; does not sync with MAP MY RUN, lousy choice.

A simple heart rate monitor is cheaper

Do buy this if you want to use the GPS. If you use it for tracking distance it's useless. I'm convinced the faster you run the less distance it says you run. A mile marked off in a vehicle is 1.03 miles on the surge about 70% of the time. Other times it is anywhere between .84 and .90 miles. It is very frustrating after paying all this money. Today I ran in my neighborhood and the GPS track on the fitbit dashboard had me in a cow pasture outside the development. I recommend marking your course off and using a regular heart rate monitor and a cheap stopwatch.

after a while the charging cord will no longer stay plugged in, creating a nightmare for charging the Surge. fitbit replaced my first one under warranty but the replacement unit did the same thing

    Buyer Beware

Good functionality; but, virtually no battery life, renders the device useless. I am replacing mine with another brand.

Does not read heart rate accurately

The Surge is not a good choice for a serious exercise enthusiast. It must be tightened onto the fore arm (very uncomfortable) or it will not read heart rate. Any flexing of the wrist causes the Surge to lose its ability to monitor heart rate. My experience was not good with this unit. I would not recommend its purchase.
