Excellent Fitness Tracker with some added smarts

I feel like Fitbit could do way more in terms of being a smartwatch with the Fitbit Versa. It runs Fitbit OS which is a pro as well as a con. It's optimized fairly well so the battery life is good and it's smooth, the only downside is the lack of apps. Developers don't want to develop for more platforms then they have to, hence why they will never have as many apps as Google Wear OS Watch or the Apple Watch. This is the biggest downfall to me, because I have everything Google so it would be nice to be able to have an app for Play music and google assistant but that will never happen on a Fitbit smartwatch as it's geared more towards fitness/health tracking and not a smartwatch. Overall though it's an excellent fitness tracker. The added smarts include Weather, app notifications and can reply to messages with simple responses. The biggest thing I love is that you can get 2-factor authentication prompts on the watch for things like Microsoft Authenticator and can approve or deny right on the watch which is awesome. Sleep tracking and other fitness data tracking seems to work well. Overall excellent fitness tracker with some added smarts, but it is nowhere near as smart as actual smartwatches. If you care more about the fitness data, get this, if you care more about smart stuff, get an Google Wear OS Watch or Apple Watch that can do some fitness tracking but not as extensive as the Fitbit.

I traded my Samsung Gear S2 in for this and I am very pleased with that decision. I love the square shape of the case that's similar to the Apple watch (which I always wanted but I'm a faithful Android user) but even better. My notifications sync from my phone in a timely manner also. I'm not a big fan of the native band because it doesn't fit into the loop smoothly due to the notch that goes into the holes...I also haven't been able to perform the latest update or install extra apps as yet. Lastly, it would be nice if I could manually send texts (other than pre-composed messages). Overall though, this watch is great and I love wearing it.

this is my first "smart watch." I need something to keep track of my heart rate, and I wanted something that doesn't look like a space ship sitting on my arm. So the form factor is a selling point for me. I also liked the idea of putting music on it, but the only way to do that is through the pc app, and the pc app does not work on windows 10. So no music for me. The music control feature for the phone (connected through bluetooth) is very limited, almost pointless. There are apps for pandora and deezer (?), but you have to have paid subscriptions to those services to use them on the fitbit. No thanks. Since the windows app doesn't work, I can't sync data to my computer. But the data I need are synced to my fitbit account online, so there's that. Setting up the fitbit is tedious and time consuming. It's almost as if you have to invest so much time and effort getting the thing working that you won't have the energy to return it. I was thinking about doing just that. However, it does the things I "need" it to do -- tell time and accurately measure my heart rate. There are a few more things that might be useful, as well, like track steps and sleep and such. So between that and the slim form factor, I think it will suffice. I might have a hard time recommending this to others, though, just because it was a real pain in the behind to get up and running. I can't speak to the phone answering features, yet, but that's not why I got it. It might be something I get used to having on my wrist.

This was an upgrade to my previous Fitbit, Charge 2. The design is beautiful and slim. Easy to wear and easy to sleep in. The App Store is very limited and hard to find useful app. Aside, from acces to a few apps and music control, I found no difference in Fitbit models. I liked the Versa but was not completely satisfied. I learned that the most advertised features aren’t available to Apple Users. As an iPhone user I’m unable to reply to messages. As a Mac user, I was unable to upload music onto the Fitbit because there’s no access to the software needed to add the music.

    Great Fitbit

Prior to purchasing the Fitbit Versa, I had the Fitbit Charge HR. The Charge HR did a great job of keeping track of physical activity, heart rate, etc. That information was passed to a mobile device or computer for review. With the Versa, it continues to track all of that same information, while also providing the means to view this information on screen. It can display heart rate, steps, active minutes, sleep time, etc. In addition to this, it can display mobile notifications on the watch screen via Bluetooth from your mobile phone. This is a great device, and I would highly recommend it for those looking to track and view their workouts, daily steps, and quickly view notifications and fit activities.

I recently had to replace my old Fitbit Surge. I spent a fair amount of time talking about the pluses and minuses of the Ionic, Apple Watch 3 and the Versa. They are all great... but what sold me on the Versa is it battery life (> 5 days!) and simplicity. The Ionic also has 5 day battery life - but because it also has GPS - it is a lot bigger. I used the GPS on my surge about 3 times in 3 years... just playing with it. I have GPS on my phone. The Apple watch is also smaller - like the Versa AND it also has GPS AND lots more. The downside of the Apple Watch is the battery life is ~1 day. (Apple says 18 hours). This was a non-starter for me. I have now used the Versa for about 4 days. I love it.

As a college student I try to stay active while taking a 15 hour semester. This watch was a present from my parents and I really enjoy having a smart watch. Things like setting an alarm or reminders is great plus it keeps track of my sleep patterns. I do want to let other buyers know that the GPS feature is great but the down side is that you must have your phone with you while using it. This has been a big issue for me because I like to run around campus but I hate carrying my big iPhone XS Max in my pocket.

    It's ok... when it works.

Frankly, I am unimpressed with the Versa. When I first got it, there was an apparently known syncing issue that was posted on the fitbit site (and app I believe) which took a few days to fix. It did seem to make a difference so I thought, ok, good start. Well, then I got a burn on my wrist due to the HR monitor light apparently. All the help I can find is in forums where several people complained about burns with various Fitbit products and offered various solutions like wearing the watch more loosely. Fitbit never really addressed the issue and put it down to skin sensitivity, from what I read. Now, I am not sure what is going on but my sleep is not recording right and I am not getting any heart rate in my run results. The answer I got from a forum moderator was to read a whole bunch of help articles. I personally find that the watch never worked 100%. It does really cool things when it works, but it's anybody's guess when it will or not. It is a nice watch, I like the look of it but in terms of what is promised when you buy it, very little is actually kept and solutions are never actually offered. One of the very good things about it is the way it charges. There is no USB port which is much better especially for a product that goes in water. It also stays charged for several days. I haven't had another activity tracker/smart watch before, so I am not sure how others work but this is mostly a disappointment to me.

I wanted a good tracker, but then fitbit came out with this smart watch and its pretty amazing piece of kit. I have mine paired with a note 8, a macbook air, JBL charge 2 and samsung level u's. I get all notifications, phone calls, texts, and emails including the ability to respond with actions or pre written replys that you can modify. The app store is still new, and short on apps, but really a great fitness/smartwatch combo.

I have had my Fitbit for almost 1 year and I have to say, I used to love it. I enjoy having a device where I can check to see my notifications. Love having my wrist buzz when I get a phone call because I left my phone on silent for the umpteenth time. I enjoy tracking my steps and heart rate. I love the sleep monitor. I also love the breathing exercises. Sounds like a steeler review right? Well, here is the big downside that spurred me to create an account and write a review. Updating this thing is the WORST! I have been trying to update the Versa for OVER A WEEK. I have tried multiple times through Bluetooth and multiple times through wifi. Each time takes anywhere from 2 - 6 hours only for the versa to tell me failed to update. I wonder at what point this stops being user error and becomes a Fitbit error. Anyways, take this as you will. If you want to drop money on this go for it and enjoy as much as you can before you need to update it.

I received the Versa as a Christmas gift. I put it on my wish list because of the price difference between it and the Apple Watch. The setup seemed easy enough, but I'm finding there is a problem with notifications. It vibrates sporadically on steps notifications, never on text messages, The texts are received on the watch, but no notification is received. I noticed on the community boards this seems to be a fairly common problem. I haven't tried the fix yet due to the time it will take. Another issue is that when I sit down to watch a movie it logs the time as sleep time. That time can be deleted by going to my account on fitbit.com, but it is an irritant. Since I would like to track sleep patterns I would like it to count time when I'm actually sleeping. Some of my issues may be user issues and I'm hoping things will improve with time. Now that I have the watch I need to try to make it work. I only wish I had held off and gotten the Apple watch.

This is the first smartwatch that i bought. I gave it as a b'day gift to my wife. She loves all the features of this watch specially the sleep pattern, exercise modes & great battery life. Although we wish that the food database would have more "indian" food options for recording the calory intake. Overall we are very satisfied with the purchase.

    Questional Build Quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased my Fitbit Versa in May of 2018 from Macys. In the little over one year period in which I have owned the watch, it has had be replaced due to manufacturing defects two times for battery failure. Just recently the HR sensor failed, but this happened 3 weeks outside of my warranty period. The only thing Fitbit offered was 25% off another device. I don't trust the build quality of Fitbit so I declined the offer. When the watch worked correctly the battery would last for four days between charging. This was one of the main reasons I decided to purchase this watch over an Android smartwatch. I like Fitbit's fitness tracking and the app for the smartphone to see detailed metrics. The smartwatch aspects are limited, but that wasn't the primary reason for buying the Versa. It had the basic things I needed, such as call and text notifications. Pros (when functional): Battery life - 4 days between charges Fitness tracking - basic info on the watch and detailed info in the app Sleep tracking (dependent on a functional HR sensor) Cons: location of back button - would cause watch to cancel fitness tracking during workout build quality - 2 battery failures and 1 HR sensor failure connection errors to smartphone app - watch would not sync and would have to perform a factory reset Neutral: Straps - I had 2 straps break in the time I had the Versa. Possibly from wear and tear. Bottom line: I don't recommend the Fitbit Versa unless you buy an extended warranty. In my experience you will need it.

This device is fairly straightforward for an activity tracker. I found it relatively easy to navigate through the screens on the device. Lightweight, nice display size and so far, relatively easy to keep clean. I would not recommend this to a friend because of the app, not the device itself.

I received it as a bday gift and the watch is great! It captures my sleep pattern (not always correct but close enough) feels and looks like an Apple Watch. Sometimes the watch goes a little bonkers when I’m in the shower. I think the watch face thinks I’m touching it. Oh well ..very happy!

Got this Fitbit for my husband and he loves it. He is 73 and the first one would not charge. Returned it for another and it is perfect. Had trouble getting phone connected but once it was he is so satisfied with it. Looks good too. Band not so good but not a big problem.

I have owned most of the FitBit watches and activity monitors since 2000. This includes the Blaze. I have Apple Watch version 1. All of my watches and devices have crashed and died at least once and i am NOT hard or harsh on them. After my Blaze died (which i really liked), i went back to Apple Watch but hated that it was not water resistant. Also I never really liked Apple’s fitness interface. Plus many of my messages would not show up on my watch. So I had realtively high expectations for this Fitbit Versa. Bought it on day#1. I like the fitness interface and heart rate monitoring and sleep functions as alway with all FitBit devices. However, I do find the interface a bit clunky and not too refined. The watch is 100% plastic and feels really cheap. It also looks really cheap = cheaper than a Swatch and cheeper than those $5 watches at the Discount store.
