Basic Chromebook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am rating this product as such because it is actually a replacement for the first Chromebook that lasted exactly nine days. Hopefully that was an outlier. This one has been satisfactory for almost a month. I can only hope that this one lasts considerably longer

Great for my teen!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought last year for our 13 year old son. Schools here are tech schools, no textbooks. Uses this one at home for assignments or homework. Also for his games; the APP Store is full of thousands of options to personalize perfectly for you. Great way to stay connected & very easy to set up and use. Highly recommended!

My go to computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has become my main source for all computer work. Have a windows computer that I have not used for several months. Don't need the hassle of fighting and waiting on the windows system. I can do what I need so much easier and quicker on my Chromebook.

Lots of looks and features, but underpowered
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This might work great for you, so I'll start with why I returned it after 3 days. I am an insurance agent, and I meet in people's homes, For the most part, I need to have many (up to a dozen) browser tabs open, and I need something light, slightly small (so the screen doesn't serve as a wall between me and my client), utterly dependable -- no stalling, no start-up lag time, no waiting for updates, no freezing, with long battery life. The Chromebook is exactly that, but the right one for me took some searching. My first Chromebook was the HP touch screen for $259. It was extremely dependable and worked just great, with excellent battery life. However, in my travels, I dropped it and broke the screen. I don't fault HP that it broke -- I twisted my ankle and it flew out of my hands onto the concrete sidewalk. I decided to see if there was a better option for me than the HP, as there were a couple of things I found frustrating with it. It handled the work with the 4GB RAM, but the touch screen wasn't super responsive (I can't stand touch pads, I feel like I'm trying to operate the machine with my knuckles, and I usually disable them for all their unintended consequences from accidentally touching them). The screen was a good size for allowing me to interact with clients, but between the unresponsive screen (which may be a real Chromebook software problem) and the small screen size making my fingers too big for the fine points I was trying to hit, I thought I'd look for better. I saw the reviews for the ASUS, and thought I'd try it. I thought the screen would be more responsive, but I was wrong. Here, the screen size was REALLY too small for the responsiveness I needed, and the thing was underpowered as well. After about 5 or 6 tabs were open, it couldn't handle more and simply closed out some, saying there wasn't enough memory available. The screen and touch pad often became completely unresponsive. In short, it just couldn't handle the work. I took it back right away and got the Samsung Chromebook Plus, which was worth every extra penny and works perfectly for my needs. If you can't afford the Chromebook Plus, pick something that has at least 4gb RAM unless you really don't need very many tabs open. The flip screen to tablet mode is nice, as the HP didn't have that, but I'd pick the HP over the ASUS any day for its responsiveness, dependability, and staying power.

Android tablet substitute?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was for my wife. She is using an iPad2(I won) that is getting long in the tooth. We are not interested in rejoining the Apple ecosystem. After a month she uses the Flip for all except reading books which she still reads on the iPad. As many say the touch screen is not as responsive, especially near the edges, as it could be. Closing tabs in Chrome in tablet mode is usually frustrating. A fine point pen touch screen would make the difference. There is no way to put the tablet to sleep without closing the clamshell. If it goes to sleep as a tablet you can't wake it without folding it shut first. Pressing the power button goes to the lock screen. Android on this Chromebook is still in development. Solitaire locks up. Requiring closing the app and then reopening. I would recommend this to someone interested in a tablet for the first time.
