Awesome computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 5 year old computer had been dropped a few too many times so i needed a replacement. This is my first asus and ive had zero issues so far. I havent tested much on games or other demanding programs but hopefully i will get to that. Love the touch screen and flip into tablet option. Load times are fast and graphics are nice.

Great little device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research before purchasing this product. This is my first Chromebook and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised, and never realized how much if my computer time was spent on a web browser. I bought this for college because it is smaller and much lighter than my laptop. I love this little device! I use it to take notes and complete assignments (and of course watch netflix and youtube). I love that it has a touchscreen. I wish I had the option u t he store to buy the 4gb one though because I feel like it can lag a little bit, but it is hardly noticable. I would reccomend this to any casual computer user or student.

Looks are not everything!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer looks amazing, small, portable and compact at 10.1", made of aluminum makes it stand out like no there. It is a great computer, for those needing a Chromebook. I thought that it would operate like a PC using apps, but sadly it was not the case and it quickly became a pebble in my shoe. I hated to return it but I had absolutely no use for a Chromebook, but for those actually seeking just that, then this Asus is a right choice.

Not a Windows based machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a Christmas gift for my 8 year old from Santa. Our school system uses chromebooks all the way up thru highschool. Anything that helps them learn is benifecial. Steep learning curve over a Windows based machine and in my opinion, not as good but this is no doubt the future trend. He loves it. Touch screen is a nice to have option. Again, its the future.

Perfect Fit for my needs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this as a replacement for my windows notebook (that laptop was for basic computing, word, excel, etc.). I needed a simple computer that would primarily be for web-surfing and document editing. The chromebook is perfect for that. I used google docs to make a resume, write letters, and prepared a slideshow while keeping them all in google's doc format. When i was finished i would save them as pdf's or word files (or excel or powerpoint) and use them in that format. My wife prefers to use dropbox for storing her files and uses the chromebook to edit them just fine. She has documents that she keeps in the word format (.docx) or excels format, and edits them just fine on this little computer. Because this uses google's operating system there was a little breakin period where i got used to the slightly different keyboard and the shortcuts, but it was a challenge at all. My biggest hurdle to overcome was learning to use google drive. Since i purchased this to write some letters and to create my resume, i found it easiest to use google docs (since the computer is all google based it made sense). In the past i have used onedrive, icloud, and dropbox for this and i consolidated the majority of my information into google drive and it has been fine. I wouldn't call google drive the most intuitive file saving system, same goes for google docs, but it's not too much to figure out. Now that i've got the hang of it i'm starting to enjoy it. The computer itself is basic and straight forward. I have larger hands and i can use the keyboard just fine, much better than the asus notebook i had. The computer runs fine and starts up quick (largely due to the simple and efficient operating system). I have left the computer on for days at a time without shutting it down and the screen blacked out on me. I hit the power button and it flicked back on. I have no complaints with the computer or the OS. I have found free online programs in google's playstore (app library) to merge and edit PDF's. The memory is only 16 GB, so you can't download many movies at a time if you were going to be traveling and not have access to internet, but you can fit a few on there. I did find that i couldn't download amazon prime movies to watch offline. The movies and shows have to be purchased from google's playstore to have offline viewing capabilities. this was a slight drawback but not a big deal for me. I have an ipad that i use for offline movie watching of my amazon puchased tv shows and movies. This little computer has been great for web-surfing and handles documents and spreadsheets just fine. Plus, at being less than $200 it's easier to replace if an accident happens, and if you are using google drive to save your documents it's a breeze to have all your info at your fingertips on a different chromebook or any computer with internet that you can sign into.

Does just what I want
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to how I would want to write this tech review; I want to appeal to the form over function crowd and the function over form crowd. Form Over Function: I personally like the silver aluminum casing but for those that want a little more customization, decal skins can be purchased separately to go outside your Chromebook. The keyboard portion does NOT disconnect from the tablet portion, so you will be feeling keyboard keys in full tablet mode. Since the Chromebook flips completely around, you can adjust however you want. Function Over Form: I really enjoy the FAST boot up time for this device. That's what you get when you combine a Linux based OS and a SSD. The battery life is amazing. My motivation for buying this item was that I wanted a tablet that serves my web browsing, e-book reading, and occasional development needs, in which I also needed a "comfortable" keyboard. I didn't want to get an I-pad (too expensive) and I didn't want a Surface (too expensive and I have a Windows laptop and desktop). The Chromebook is middle of the road. I can work on MS Office documents through the corresponding Chrome Apps and cloud storage. The device also supports mini-SD cards and USB thumb drives. My only complaint is the layout of the keyboard. Where the Caps lock would normally be located, there is a search tool that when pressed brings the Google search and the 5 most recently used apps. I use the Caps key fairly moderately for passwords and creating constants in computer code. The way to get around this is either to hold the shift key down (there is 1 on each side) or go to the virtual keyboard which has the Caps lock key. I wish that Google would follow suit with Microsoft and Apple where they have their flagship keys at the bottom row of the keyboard. This is more intuitive especially when you're doing quite a bit of typing. This complaint technically brings the complete review down half a star but aside from this particular grievance, it's a wonderful product indeed.

The best Chromebook!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 12 year old daughter wanted a tablet and a laptop for school. This item perfectly satisfied both of those requests. It boots up fast and performs great. No complaints at all. Except that I can't get her off of it now. All kidding aside, the versatility on this laptop / touch-screen tablet is a wonder for those that want both.

Great little device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great little device if you spend much on your time connected to the internet. Easy to pick up, though ChromeOS does not come with features many people are accustomed it never bothered me, and the battery life thus far is great.

Great Chromebook for student writer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this item for my daughter who likes to go hiking in the woods to find a place to write. Very portable and light...perfect for her needs (as long as she has a hot-spot to connect). Metal case seems very durable which is a big plus.

Great for high school work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Keyboard has good spring and the touchpad works well. Graphics display nicely, whether reading online textbooks or watching videos. Lags a bit on heavy pages, but not detrimental to work. Connects to wi fi quickly, 2 in 1 feature very handy, works really well as a tablet. Touch screen very responsive so far. 3 weeks in with a ninth grader who has to use it in class and to work on/ do research and homework on and living up to expectations. Great value, glad we bought this product. Battery life about 4-5 hours if constantly used.
