Bought this to replace our 1st generation ring flood camera after the 1st generation camera didn't go off in the middle of the night while our vehicles were being broken into. So far this one has detected us, dogs, chickens, ect. We will see how it does in a year.

It was easy to install and to connect to my current ring cameras & system. The video can record without the lights turning on. Not sure if I would purchase this at full price, just be cause it is so expensive. At a discount, worth it.

The only thing is, you need to install it in the right place where there's an outlet or a junction box or, have electric run to the desired area if you do not have service in that particular area of the house.

Power surges happen and there is no battery back up. If it loses power while you are away it must be reset by hitting a button on the top of camera which requires a ladder and a human.

It sounds like the device is not performing as intended. The Ring app has a feature that lets you remotely reboot your devices. This function allows you to reboot a device from a distance if any problems occur.
To reboot your Ring device in the Ring app, follow these steps:
Note: To reboot your Ring device in the Ring app, it must be connected to wifi.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select the device you want to reboot.
Make sure it's connected to wifi.
Tap the Device Health tile.
Scroll down to Reboot This Device and confirm your selection.
Give your Ring device a few minutes to start up.

Camera works well at night without the light. App is very good but takes some time to master. Many options and ways to customize alerts, motion, and people detection. Please note to retain video you will need to sign up for a Ring plan. Plans seem reasonably priced.

Other then that minor issue, we really like this item.
