failed in inform buyer of proper installation
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.gave this product a one star because the adviser at best buy failed to tell me that the installer will have to remove one of me matching lights in front of the garage for it to work instead of mounting it in the middle above the garage, they failed to tell me that I would need to get an electrician for it to be installed above the garage so I had to return this product. this is not wireless it says it is but they told me it had to be hard wired to the house.

Posted .Hello paulvc18,
We are always looking for ways to better our neighbor experience, and your feedback is an invaluable part of this process. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home and empower you to connect with your neighbors from wherever you are. We are saddened to read that Best Buy's Geek Squad could not install your Floodlight Camera Pro where you wanted it on your home. Having the peace of mind, in your home security, you purchased Ring for is critical.
You are correct, the Floodlight Cam Wired Pro requires hard-wiring. If you do not already have a junction box, one can be installed, however, Ring highly recommends that you engage a licensed electrician for this. Ring does offer a variety of battery and plug in devices that may be a better fit for home's environment. Here is a helpful link that compares the cameras we have available: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004687606-Ring-Security-Camera-Product-Comparison.

Avoid Ring products if you live in the cold
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unit (as well as my other Ring floodcams) stops working when temps drop below 10-deg F. Ring customer service is never any help. Also, the new LED lights are only about 1/2 as bright as the old lights. Save yourself some aggravation and buy another brand.

Posted .Hello MnGuy,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us directly. We appreciate it! Extremely cold weather has unfortunate effects on lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in Ring battery devices. You should not be experiencing any downtime due to extremely cold weather with a Ring hardwired device. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with information regarding your hardwired Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro.
As the temperature drops, lithium-ion batteries begin to have trouble holding a charge and if it gets cold enough, they'll stop working altogether. As a result, at certain temperatures, the batteries in Ring battery devices may run out of power faster than expected and may need to be recharged more often. The Ring Floodlight Camera Pro, the hardwired device you reviewed, is designed to withstand temperatures between -5°F to 118°F (-20.5°C to 48°C). It is also designed with two 3000° Kelvin lights and 2000 lumens of brightness. The brightness can be controlled from within the Ring app. Can you ensure that this is turned up all the way under the light settings?

Posted .Hi DoUrHomeworkBefore.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand how critical it is for your Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro to notify you of meaningful motion events where the device is installed. The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We can definitely assist you with this today to ensure your Ring device is performing optimally and the proper settings are chosen within the Ring app.
It sounds like your Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro is not picking up all of the motion that you want it to. When setting up your custom motion zones, exclude areas you don’t need to monitor. Note the potential paths people take to approach your device. Then redraw your motion zones to exclude areas where you rarely see people, such as behind locked gates, hedges, or walls.
Once your custom motion zones are set up, you can further fine-tune the area your devices cover by adjusting the motion sensitivity. Higher motion sensitivity will increase the number of alerts you receive. Follow these steps to adjust the Motion Sensitivity slider in the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the screen.
Tap Devices.
Tap the device you want to view.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap Motion Sensitivity.
Adjust the Motion Sensitivity Slider.
Tap Save in the upper right.
Visit our support center if any additional help is needed.

Posted .Hello RonL,
Thank you for taking a moment to share your overall Floodlight Cam Wired Pro experience with us. We appreciate that you have chosen us to secure your home, and having relevant and reliable notifications is imperative with a home security device! Not to worry, we are here to provide you with information to resolve this concern and ensure your device is capturing and notifying you for valid events only.
Customizable Motion Zones are featured in all of Ring’s AC-powered products, which allow for a fuller feature set and greater degree of customization. This system’s customization options let you draw up to three areas in the camera’s view to detect motion in. These Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring to cover, while ignoring everything outside that area. By drawing your Motion Zones to exclude high-frequency areas such as public paths and roads, you can reduce the number of false positive motion notifications, such as cars driving by, and increase the effectiveness of your Ring device. Here is a helpful support article that elaborates on this feature: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042728431-Advanced-Motion-Detection-in-Ring-Devices.

Posted .Hello Chris,
The Ring Floodlight Cam is designed to help protect your home with a motion-activated security camera and built-in floodlights. The camera features two 3000° Kelvin floodlights, which should turn on and off based on the Light Settings you select in the Ring app. We strive to deliver quality devices that will serve you in the long run as we understand that you will be relying on them for your home security.
When the lights are not turning off, the first thing we suggest checking for is any light switches in your home that might be controlling the Floodlight Cam. It’s best to ensure a dimmer or specialty switch isn't interfering due to a setting, or a nearby object touching it. You can also power cycle the Floodlight Cam, sometimes this quick troubleshooting step gets the lights working properly. To complete a power cycle you will flip the breaker switch or light switch, off and then on again.
It is imperative that your Ring Floodlight Cam works to meet your needs and expectations. If you still have your Floodlight Cam, we would love to investigate this concern further with you. Please feel free to check out our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ for some additional tips and support!
