Purchased this watch over a year ago and a half ago. I had upgraded from the Gen 4 so more features in this current model. I do regret not getting screen protector but honestly for what I do for a living I forget to take it off, so I'm impressed it doesn't have more scratched on it then what it does already have. Battery last time is affected by the cold weather so as long as you're not out in the cold all day it should last all day on the one charge.

I was looking for a dressier alternative to my Apple Watch. I hate its square face, and it doesn’t matter what band you add to it, it’s just not an attractive watch. I had fossil watches in college and loved them, I liked having a decent looking watch to wear when I wore a suit...so I purchased this watch. You’d figure after all this time that wearables have been in the market that Android Wear would be solid to that of Apple...no where close. It’s quite disappointing the disparity between the two. I find the UI/UX on the watch very clunky and unrefined. There are conflicts with my Bluetooth link up in my car when ever I wear this watch. The battery life of this is a joke. I’m lucky if I can get a full day out of the battery. I bought a second charger for work. I can get 2 days out of my Apple Watch series 4. Also the face does not stay lit long enough when I raise my are to read the time Google assistant doesn’t work. It could be that I am using an Apple phone. Not sure. This watch’s only saving grace is its ability to customize the watch face, which is a HUGE gripe of mine with the Apple Watch. I actually dropped 30 bucks on the Facer app, because I can push out awesome watch faces from the app. They are truly beautiful, and kept me from returning the watch after day one. This watch isn’t for the faint of heart. If you can get past it’s shortcoming, it’s Ok. Sadly, this watch is Gen 5 and received rave reviews...it may work great with a pixel or Samsung. Not so much with iOS.

One of the nicest looking smartwatches

In my opinion, you'd be hard-pressed to find a nicer looking watch than this. It has a very classic style and is not near as bulky as many other smartwatches. It packs many competitive features as well, with few compromises. I'll get the biggest issue out of the way first. If you're using all the features, the battery is going to need to be charged daily. If you're fine with that, then this watch will likely easily suit you. The bright side of that, is that the watch charges very quickly. They boast 80% in an hour, but I think it may be even faster than that. It also has some great options to extend battery life. For instance, you can have it shut off connections from 11 pm to 6 am to conserve battery life, and that will help it easily last two full days. You can also enter these battery saving modes very quickly from the pull down menu on the watch. It's quick to navigate between screens and applications, call quality is very good, notification management in this latest version of Wear OS is quick and easy to use. Notifications show on the watch instantaneously, which were sometimes slightly delays on other watched I've used. The knob dials on the side of the watch are very smooth, and I haven't accidentally used them unintentionally like I initially feared. The clasp is also great, I have a medium-sized wrist and had a local jeweler remove 3 links to fit me. It's not overly snug or uncomfortable, and it actually feels lighter than any of the other smartwatches I've owned. Even with the metal band, which looks very nice in my opinion. The fitness tracking actually seems to be a bit more accurate than other watched I've had as well. Including a near-continous heart rate monitor. I have mine currently set to take a reading every five minutes. I haven't seen a way to track floors though, and perhaps it's unable to do so. It also doesn't track sleep natively that I could see, but there are some third part apps that fill this need, if that's something you're looking for. The one I used (Sleep as Android) also integrated with Google Fit. Overall, I'm very happy. This is a smartwatch that gives you all the features you'd expect, and looks very classy doing so. Pros: Elegant, lighter than expected, quick, charges very fast Cons: Battery life (though this can be tweaked to last longer), some fitness features may not be available out of the box, or at all

I want to say first, that this Smartwatch does not have a large battery, but you can spend a day of 10-12 hours. The best: It has a super fast charge. It charges you 100% in one hour. It has a large screen, everything goes smoothly because it has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM. The silicone band is 22cm, a bit long for some; but you can find one more small in the Fossil store or on Amazon. It is a super delicate band in contact with the skin and the Smartwatch is very light. I love your design. Your updates make the Google assistant work very well. Of course, be prepared because between setting up the Smartwatch and downloading updates, it can take a whole night; which means no less than 10 HOURS !!! Yes, it is not a lie, that took my watch to update and configure. I returned the first one, because when I finished downloading the update (4 hours), it showed me "The update cannot be installed"; then bingo! Another 4 hours of download. The same happened to me with the second one. That's why I decided to return it. I put the missing money and bought a Galaxy Watch 46mm Bluetooth. Not a bad smartwatch; but believe me that after you had the Fossil 5 Generation on your wrist; He will miss him very much. it's OS Wear (Android) and Samsung phones run Android; So your Smartwatches run Tizen OS. I don't know what Samsung's future will be with Tizen on their phones; but I am sure of one thing: Between OS Wear and Tizen, I keep OS Wear; although, it has flaws like Tizen; At least it is developed by Android. Syncing with your Android device is great. Tizen has no licensed Google app (Except for exceptions with Spotify, Strava and Uber, which are not from Google). But honestly, who will request an Uber service with their watch, if the phone allows you to do better? Tizen uses Here We Go instead of google maps. It is not bad; but in my case I had problems with navigation. The app breaks every time or freezes and I had to restart my phone, so I decided to uninstall this app. For now, Tizen is not doing well with me. You have to use all the original Samsung apps: Phone, contacts, Samsung Pay and even Samsung Internet. Yes, you read it right: Samsung internet instead of Google Chrome! Honestly, I put on this Galaxy Watch to set up Samsung Health and my heart rate and I left it in its box. I just want to see what happens with your battery; but I miss my Fossil 5 Generation. In every way!

Review from a Pixel 5 owner: After owning many android watches: Samsung Galaxy watches, Tic watches, etc... the Fossil 5 Gen is by far the best smartwatch for Wear OS. Samsung's Tizen OS, while a good experience, only works best with a Galaxy phone. Many Wear OS features are either not available or work poorly (google messaging app and Google assistant). Oh... and Bixby speech recognition is awful. Tic Watch Pro 3 provided a better Wear OS experience and good battery, but the watch was plagued with way too many bugs (receiving/making calls from the watch was crapshoot, sound notifications didn't always work). Screen was ok ...not vibrant. Speaker is pretty bad too. FGen5 worked seamlessly out of the box. Very nice screen and true extension of your smartphone. Google assistant works flawlessly. My only gripe is the battery could be better. However, a small price to pay for all the plusses this watch provides. Would have given 5 stars for larger battery.

For a smartwatch, it is a good looking confortable, sturdy watch. I haven't tried swiming with it, but showering isn't a problem. Battery life could be better bearly making it a full day with a workout. There are several battery ansaving modes. Display is nice and bright. Much less expensive than similary equipted watches

Let me start mentioning that the watch is beautifully finished, and a great size for most people. Now Google Wear OS works OK, kind of slow sometimes, but I love it specially if paired with a Android cellphone. Where it kills itself is with Battery Life, you will be lucky if it lasts 24 Hours...Even if you going into settings and shut off quite a few Apps from notifications. That being said, that's why I gave it 3 Stars, and by the way returned it too. Hopefully all these manufacturers can either use bigger batteries, and also Google Wear OS should be more efficient.

I love the watch, ease of use, makes phone calls through the watch, although the speaker isn't too great you have to hold it up to your ear, you can only listen to it well if your surrounded by silence. I like the size and all the app options it has. But for fitness it isn't too good. I went from a Fitbit to this because i wanted the making phone calls integrated ony watch, and firebird are great, but they're a few steps behind on technology. Although,y Fitbit would rate my heart beats extremely accurate. This watch doesn't telly heart rate properly. My heart rate is normally at resting mode in the 60-70 this watch says. Always at 120 BPM. That's absurd. I get that high when I exercise yes, but bit at resting mode. So heart rate I give it a complete ZERO. Battery lasts only a day. Which sucks too, because comparing the how spoiled I was with Fitbit, battery would last week's without charge, so I was used to wearing my watch to sleep to monitor my sleep. So that's no bueno. Also this watch doesn't track sleep for you like the Fitbit does. Since the Fitbit s heart rate is so accurate, its so smart that it knows when you fall asleep and when you wake up, without you having to track it manually and it tell you your sleeping cycles and heart rate. The fossil gen 5;doesn't do that. You have to manually set when you go to sleep, and when you wake up, and you don't get the luxury of knowing your sleeping cycles or heart rate in your sleep. So that's a bummer. This watch is more of a luxury. It's perfect for the technological luxuries if paying with your watch at the store, answering your phone calls directly on the watch, pulling up your Starbucks app from the watch, summoning Google voice, which by the way Google voice doesn't work as good either. It doesn't understand when I ask google to call a contact. And it's not my voice, my phone does understand perfectly when I request it to call a contact or ask for the weather, the fossil watch Google voice assistant doesn't work as well and my guess is that the microphone in the watch isn't great quality. So awesome watch to go out, and have for fun. Not good for athletes or for medical patients. As for step count. I couldn't find wether this watch has a pedometer, but since my phone has one, I didn't really care to find out.

It is a great device. I bought this for an awesome price deal. Pros: you can sync it with your phone. You will get all type of notifications on it. Also YOU CAN answer phone calls from it, yes! Weather, steps, heart rate, step counting, control your music. Even answer your texts back from it. You can change the clock faces with several models from Fossil. It actually looks like a really cool watch. If you like watches this is a really good option for you. Cons: maybe to "fancy" if you wanna go and run with it or just do some excersie. It's more like a casual smartwatch. The battery doesn't last that long BUT it charges really fast! So you're good to go.

I returned the prior generation to this one due malfunction on the battery... Same thing happening to this one. Battery dries in 4-6 hours by max. Always using official charger. I had to continously restart the watch in order to turn on the Bluetooth and sync to phone. I won't recommend this item... the desing is great though.

Well just to get it out of the way, the battery life on these watches in general, needs to improve. I understand of course given the small form factor that may be technically difficult at this time, and/or not cheap to implement at this time. I have custom faces on my watch that are cool to look at, people give me compliments about them all the time. but the screen life steals my glory, constantly dimming as necessary to preserve battery life. That will be a constant theme if you purchase *any* smart watch these days unfortunately. One thing though, I did manage to download an app on my smartphone that extends or outright eliminates the standby of watch faces, but be prepared for sub 4 hour battery life if you don't let the screen turn itself off. I have mine set to about a minute from the default which I'm not sure but is somewhere around 10 seconds. I stress the battery life because, other than that, this is a fantastic watch, very comfortable, trendy looking, I even bought additional wrist bands to compliment whatever outfit I have on. With the impending release of the next gen of smart watches on the horizon, you can get a great deal on this and many android watches, although I wouldn't hold my breath for the fruit companies watches. TLDR: Great while it lasts, always keep a charger and/or a battery bank near by, be prepared to charge it if you start adding apps to the phone or if you use custom watch faces from a service such as Facer (and why wouldn't you?)

For this item whether I recommend it or not depends heavily on the use. A simple yes or no can not suffice. Nor can the meters for Quality, Ease of Use, and Value. It all depends on your expectations. For example an audiophile will love Martin Logans, while the same person will hate them because they sound aweful after their spouse/partner forces them to be hidden . A first time buyer of a smart watch will not be impressed, while those of us that have had a few and know they kind of all stink will be quite impressed with this model. To clarify my ease of use - watch faces don't show step count out of the box, kind of silly for a device with a heart rate monitor. Nor does it show you your heart rate without digging, again kind of silly for a device that has a heart rate monitor. To clarify value - the lower cost vs the mechanical fruit earn it a Good. Ease of use issues mentioned above keep it from getting Excellent. To clarify Quality - glaring defects in the software that should have been resolved in beta, earns this device an average. The silicone watch band doesn't help. I am not one to expect miracles. I don't want it to do everything the phone can, my phone lasts 1.5 days with a battery 10 times the size of the watch. So obviously a watch that does everything a phone can will only last a couple hours. It shouldn't need WiFi, It shouldn't need direct access to your google accounts, but it does. As such pesky notifications about account actions persist when all I really wanted was a device to relay notifications off of my phone which is already authorized. Said account actions which are near impossible to get rid of on some gsuite accounts. Standard Gmail and a really old gsuite account is fine, but more recent Gsuite accounts just won't fully authorize this watch even when device management is set to basic. Even in large font mode, text is still hard to read. I've found the problem to be worse while in spaces with LED lighting. Bear in mind this watch is 2-3 times further away from your eyeballs than your phone is, you should be able to read it even if you need readers to look at your phone. Which I can still hold my phone and read it without readers. Those looking for a more fitness orientated model should look elsewhere, it's not really a fitness watch out of the box, you have to enable apps which then consume battery to phone home to the mothership. I have a gear fit pro 2 that did everything I needed except staying on my wrist. And lasted at least 2 full days. with a smaller battery. I would prefer downloading updates to my phone and then pushing them to the watch via bluetooth which uses less power due to proximity. But it doesn't work that way, it seems as WiFi needs to be enabled to attain updates. If you walk away from your phone with bluetooth enabled, your battery dies just as fast as if wifi were on. So listening to music directly off the watch while the watch is burning battery trying to connect to your phone really isn't all that practical. All that said if you use custom battery mode; disable WiFi, disable Always On Display, keep your phone close at all times and don't use the direct music, you can get almost 23 hours between charging. Well maybe more, but who in their right mind will set an alarm to put their watch on the charger in the middle of the night. I was down to 20% when I put the watch on the charger till full. About 23 hours between charges. I am not an addict like most, so if you actually use this thing for calls and you look at your watch every time it beeps, plan on carrying a charger with you. If you are a digital addict, I have no doubt that this watch is the best in the current flock for you. According to other reviews other offerings suffer worse battery life. My 3 star rating is simply due to being tired of paying to be a beta tester. A lot of my quirks could have easily been resolved prior to retail launch had a proper beta test been done. I realize this company isn't the only one, it rings true from the cheapest of items all the way to multi million dollar communication platforms. Had the experience after 2 software updates been achieved out of the box, I would have given a 4 star. Silicone is also a stupid material to make watch bands with. (a leather watch band is cheaper than the price difference out of the box, In case you're wondering) It's a base for a common lubricant. As such the darn thing has to be so tight to keep from sliding around that you see indents for several hours after removal. If I decide to keep it, I will be changing bands to something a little less slippery. Yes indents are normal no matter what, but with silicone they are deeper and more constricting.

This smartwatch provides all of your modern necessities. Heart rate monitor, Google Assistant, Google Fit, a ton of customization, and much more. As wonderful as it is, it does not contain the best of battery lives, and unless you plan on remembering to charge it every night, you're going to be missing out on features by modifying the Extended Battery option. Along with that, the charger is a bit finicky, as there are times I am sure the prongs are touching the metal rings, but there isn't a charge, or that it's also not the strongest magnet, meaning it's a bit easier to knock off than I'd like. Other than that, I can't recommend this watch enough for daily techies who make sure everything stays on and connected.

Switched from apple products and had to find a new watch. Tried the Galaxy active2 which was probably a little more refined but bixby is just terrible and laggy so I decided to try a wear os device instead. The Fossil does everything well but i feel it could improve a little on things like battery life/speaker loudness/screen brightness. I do get about a day and a half of battery life on light to normal use. Heavier use with fitness tracking makes it about a day. Overall satisfied with the purchase.
